Yes, I was +4:45 slower off my Marathon PR due to the slipping in the rain. My marathon PR though is also in the Elite, in dry conditions. It’s a great fast shoe, but so weather dependent.
I'm a 5:10 pace marathon, 5 hours 10 min. 😂 even my 1/4 mile pace is over 6 pace. I do like the cielo x1 though walking pace it's not stable for me so for anyone who may walk a little it gets unstable for me when walking but for long runs I it's one of my favorite shoes for sure. And I had issues with the heel stiching with the adios pro 3 so yeah buyer beware. I returned both Paris models as I need more stability.
@@supwell have only run halfs so far but I'm on the fence between the gara and the endorphin pro 3. I think the durability issues I have is mostly that I'm 200 lbs and land more heavily on one side of the heal than the other but the pro 3 has less wear than the gara and the pro 4 and I have more miles on my pro3. The gara maybe better for a marathon as it's a little softer but I like the rocker on the pro3.
I just ran my first half marathon this past Sunday. Didn’t run as fast as I’d like because I had some things come up during training, but I wore the Endorphin Pro 4 per your recommendation and I loved it. I’m 6’4”, 210lbs, kinda slow. Shoe was perfect. Comfortable throughout the entire race, but I could tell the foam and carbon plate kept me rolling along. Also had a bit of rain at like mile 8-9 and the outsole grip never left me wondering if I’d slip.
The Pro 4 is my first racing shoe. I’m a slow runner and it’s not harsh at all really enjoyable shoe to run in. Also I’m forefoot striker naturally and this shoe does not bottom out in the forefoot.
Loved the 3's. Not sure if it was my sock choice or I cranked my laces too tight for race day but I ran a HM with the Pro 4 and by the end the tops of my feet were hurting - makes we worry about running a marathon in them. Awesome comparison!
@supwell thanks for the comprehensive review. Which shoes would you recommend for a 100 mile race in asphalt, pace rangin from 10 to 12 or 13 minute per mi, which includes walking breaks. I've been looking at the Saucony Pro 4 but most reviews I've found they haven't been tested at that slow pace and distance. I typically run in trails so this is new territory for me. Thanks in advance 😊
Thank you! Yes here's the comparison video I did with the endorphin pro 4 New Balance SC Elite v4 vs Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 th-cam.com/video/gO6MDbVGZu0/w-d-xo.html the sc elite v4 isn't my favorite for fast running - just feels like a little too much foam for my liking. But it is a very comfortable and stable shoe
How do either of these shoes accommodate runners with wider/splaying forefeet and slightly higher arches? Do either of them have any volume in the forefoot? (Most racing shoes don't).
I really appreciated the spectrum of least aggressive to most aggressive as well. Do you have any suggestions for us middle or back of the pack runners. I'm typically a 11:00 mile runner and I'm wondering if I just settle for comfort as in the Triumph 21, Endorphin Speed 3 or look for something relatively aggressive in the Alphafly y 3.
Endorphin pro 4 is still a nice option if you want that race day feel. I've also been testing the s/lab Spectur which is designed for more time on feet and comfort, so that will likely shake out to be a top choice as well. But for now my top picks would be novablast if you want more of a training shoe with comfort and stability and endorphin pro 4 if you want that race day fast feel
I have been running all my races (5k-half marathon) in the Pro 3 and I love it. Looking to get a new pair of carbon plate racers, but I’m worried about width. How do these two compare in width to the Pro 3? My foot fits in the 3s, but it’s really close 😂
My fave shoe for training is the Novablast 3 and the gt2000-12. I'm looking now for a marathon shoe and considering the endorphin pro 4. Im a heel striker and very slow targeting to finish the marathon in less than 6hrs doing a run/walk. Do you think the EP4 is a good choice? Lastly as I need to buy this overseas is the sizing the same for all Saucony models. I wear a 9.5 in in guide 16 will I be the same size in EP4?
When you mean easier do you mean it’s harder on the feet and or knees? I seem to have a problem with the endorphin pro 3 as a long run shoe where it hurts my knees a lot contrast to the super blast where I don’t.
How about the Superblast as an alternative to de N4 or the EP4 for a 4 hour marathon?. I do have EP4, AP3 and superblast and soon going for my first one.
Yeah I'd put superblast in that same category with novablast as a good alternative for more comfort/less aggressive feel. I don't personally love that shoe but a lot of runners like it for longer runs and marathons
What shoe would you recommend for weekly long runs 40-60k during ultra training, that won’t have to be replaced every month due to high weekly mileage, based on your reviews I thought the Boston 12 could be a good fit?
bought the elites cheap a few days ago, liked the style ngl. so maybe im a new saucony fanboy. the FIT is just insane in those elites. so smooth. grip in dry is brutal. ( dont know wet conditions but yeah, theres no rainprofile on it. gonna give the pro 4 maybe a try aswell. but first ill run my next marathon in oktober in the elites. pushing some PR close to 3h. run my 3:15 in the novablast 4. so i hope i can save some minutes there with my first carbon plated shoe :D
Sc elite also a great choice! It's a little too much foam for my personal preference (due to the lower drop) but a great choice if you want something stable and super cushioned
Did you know that Steve Nash is a big Tottenham Hotspur Fan, my football(soccer) team in London! - useless fact of the day! - put some respect on the Hotspurs!
The Cielo X1 looks like a really fun shoe. The weight probably wouldn't be a problem because my wallet would be so much lighter. :) As it is, I plan to try the Neo Vista as a reportedly bouncy, rockered shoe that sounds like a good fit for my mechanics and is almost $100 cheaper.
I would look at the Wave Rebellion Flash 2 or the first version of the Wave Rebellion Pro if you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the Cielo X1. The Wave Neo Vista looks like an interesting shoe but reviews giving much more of a daily cruiser vibe.
I have somewhere between 250 and 300 miles on my pro 3 and it still has some life left. I think pro 4 will have similar durability where most people can get 300+ solid training miles out of it - it's has the same primary foam and similar rubber coverage as the 3. I felt the foam lost a bit of that race day pop around 150 to 200 miles but it's still super comfortable and protective
I have got close to 500 miles out of two pairs of Pro 3 and 280 miles on a 3rd pair in training. Great training shoe across the paces for me but a little too soft and bottoms out when form starts to go around 20 miles for me. I need some replacements for this type of shoe soon. Have an eye on replacing with possibly the asics Magic Speed 4 and the Topo Specter 2. Racing in the Endorphin Elite at the moment. Ran two good Marathons (including my current PB in my first pair) and one poor Marathon. I can definitely see what is said here rings true as I am shooting for low 3+ hour Marathon times with half an eye on a Sub 3. Lost some fitness recently and they definitely feel harder work even over shorter distances. Got 155 miles on my first pair of Elites which I am now using for Half, 10k race shoe. Got another pair of Elites which will probably be kept box fresh for Boston 2025 🙂 so don't really need to worry about race shoes until the end of 25 or even 2026. I tried the Metaspeed Paris and would definitely be concerned about stability in them, even a little concerned over a tough Half distance. The Paris seem like they can absolutely fly though if you are able to handle them!! 🧑🚀🚀🚀
@@TheMf51y I Used mine for 10k and half and was running 3.03-3.10 pace. Elite feels super fast with the aggressive rocker but still nice and stable. I think anything under 4min kms it’d be fine as long as you strike mid to forefoot
Endorphin Elites destroyed my achilles. Possible that also my strength wasn't on point, but feels like if the rocker doesn't align well with your MTP joints you will have a very hard time climbing out of its rocker

Adidas Supernova with the new DreamStrike foam hasn't got much attention. Can you please compare it (SuperNova) with the Peg'41? It would be nice.
I second this!

It’s awesome you have so many shoes. Makes for great content.
Wish I had done more research and gone Pro4 for my marathon last week, the Elite gave me terrible foot pain and blister for 7:45 pace
Sorry to hear about that! Pro 4 would definitely be my choice for that pace - congrats on the marathon finish btw 🙌🏽
Would the endorphin pro 4 be comparable to the s/lab spectur? If so, I hope you could do a vs comparison between them.
