    I have one of these, it’s got it’s pros and cons. The band definitely pulls through with much less effort than a CAT, it really doesn’t slide around much at all when putting it on yourself. The quick-release clips on/off quite easily after clipping it a couple times to get the hang of it. The cons would be that even though the windlass clip is smaller, the plate is large and curved, so it folds up just about as thick as a CAT, plus it’s wider, so it is a little bigger. I prefer it in my kits but pulling it out of a carrying case might be kind of difficult unless you’ve got one of those rubber band holders.

    Hi Skinny love your reviews. In your podcast you had said that CM spokesperson said the TMT windless could be tightened either direction and still lock in to position. Could you demonstrate that in a video. I like the small size footprint of the TMT.

    I might switch over to this for EDC. Right now I'm carrying the CAT gen7 and as good as it is, it isn't ideal for EDC (but I keep a couple in my car). Seeing as the TMT folds up and is more versatile, I would heavily consider this for EDC.

      The SOFTT WIDE Gen3 folds so flat that you can do pocket carry!

    • @bebop_557
      @bebop_557 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SuperTango44 Yes but the SOFT T isn't as good for applying on yourself. It's better to apply on someone else, which is why I always carried the CAT over it.

    Do you mind showing how you would use a pressure bandage instead of a tourniquet for a child? I know how to usea a pressure bandage but I don't know if there are any differences when using it as a tourniquet

  • @antonyrobinson1215
    @antonyrobinson1215 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can we see a flat-pack of this? Can the windlass be prepped with it on the side to make it even flatter like I have seen with the SOFT-T (this is the only problem I have with the CAT)?

    • @SkinnyMedic
      @SkinnyMedic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can stage the windlass to the side

    Another great video; thank you! Question: would this tourni be appropriate for children, i.e., for smaller limbs?

    • @SkinnyMedic
      @SkinnyMedic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like I said in the video, it will compress down to 5 and 3/4 inches. Anything less than that then you can use a pressure bandage.

    What's the best soft-w pouch/holster? And is it worth using or should I stick with rubber bands/ranger bands to hold the tq in place instead

    • @SuperTango44
      @SuperTango44 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rubber bands does the trick for me!

    • @beartacticaldevelopment5703
      @beartacticaldevelopment5703 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Phlster Flatpack TQ Carrier ($25) seems to be quite popular and can be used to attach to your belt if you're into that. Other than that, I'd say ranger bands. They also make a Flex Utility Pouch ($18) that fits the TQ in your pocket with no clips but just keeps it compressed. I've also seen IWB TQ pouches if that's what you need.

      g wagner I guess every new windlass style tq that’s hits the market is gonna seem like a C.A.T. to some people. Personally,I see this tq as more useful than the CAT.

    At 2:13 you said: you can turn the windless either way"... Yes, you can turn it, BUT locking it (from what I can see in video) is possible only if you turned it clockwise, due to the clip orientation.
    Or, am I missing something and got it wrong?

    • @SkinnyMedic
      @SkinnyMedic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will lock in either direction

      @@SkinnyMedic Wow, lighting fast answer 😀, THANK you Skinny.
      I can see now there is a hook and indeed will lock regardless of the direction you turned the windless.
      Keep it up man, I am hooked on your videos... Wealth of useful information !!!

    The junctional capability is actually pretty damn innovative. Did the CoTCCC have anything to say on that aspect of it, or did they just approve the regular TQ like you reviewed here?

    • @SkinnyMedic
      @SkinnyMedic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are waiting on FDA approval for the junctional part.

    What do we do with small children????

    • @ambiguitiy1207
      @ambiguitiy1207 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the child is so small that a regular tourniquet such as the TMT or CAT is too large to work, it is more than likely that a pressure bandage or simply direct pressure when properly applied can control the bleeding.

      Erich Von Wachter I don’t think tourniquets will ever be unaffordable, too much competition, especially now that there are more approved by the CoTCCC. Other medical items are cheap like compression bandages and rolled gauze, it’s the fancy pouches they come in that are expensive! You do get what you pay for though.
