Your description is wrong. Army Air Corps Staff Sgt. Leslie Edwards wasn't a pilot he was a aircraft mechanic. Edwards a Tuskegee Airmen and the last surviving member of the 477th. Bombardment Group.

Joel Danao There is honor in war when someone attacks your country and you go after them. There is honor for the country standing up for themselves and their allies.
No honour or winners in wars . Every side has casualties . There is no honour when you kill someone's son in the battlefield . The only honour there is comes from the person who can bring peace not wars.
Joel Danao ironically you are being very dishonourable and disrespectful to whatever country you live in and its people! Taking someone’s life in the context of war is okay, they are trying to do the same as you. The honour is in war when you as a soldier, serves for their country, protecting and doing good. That is the most basic way to put it. Other ways of being honourable would be to respect the fact that honour does exist - i think you are the first i have heard make the statement “honour does not exist”, and its disgusting.
@@tommasthetankengine18 obviously you don't know what honour means . What's the point of trying to achieve honour when everyone you know is dead ? WW1 the war to end all wars ended nothing . WW2 didn't stop more wars from happening too .

Honestly, we still don't know where he was burried in real.
roger mawby My grandfather was a tail gunner in the Pacific on a Douglas Dauntless dive bomber. I vaguely remember one specific day where he shared some memories but he never really brought it up. He told me on one mission almost half his squadron was taken out and he lost some good friends. He passed away a few years ago when I was 18. Unfortunately he became a heavy drinker after the war, I think to drown out some of the memories. We went through his safe in his home and found all of his metals, his old uniform, pictures of his squadron, and even some old rounds from what I'm guessing was ammunition for the tail gun. I miss him so much, and wish I could've heard some more stories. He said every mission they went up he'd pack his mouth full of chewing tobacco because it would help with the exhaust/engine fumes and help keep the edge off. I miss you Grandpa Donald. Thank you for your service.
I get teary eyed when I see old vet re-live they're days humbly, share stories with younger vets, or just experience the new things we have today and smile because they left the country in good hands. Semper FI USMC 0311/0331 '06-'12
A large number of tears run down my face for this great man and what he did for this country. He makes me think about my grandfather who was a bombardier on a B-29 and my time I spent with him when he raised me. No matter how this country treated him he still had a flagpole in front of his house and taught me to never let the flag hit the ground and how to fold it. Man, this video hit me hard today in remembrance of him. Salute to SSgt Leslie Edwards and Mr. Sammie Berry (my grandfather).
your tather is a great vet veteran. im dutch and my granddad fought in the ww2 war against germany and later he went to indonesia (it was part of netherlands) against the Japanse . My granddad never talked about it and never became the never person before the war. Rest in peace my friend, your duties will never be forgotten. Btw, he loved Indonesia, he said it was such a beautiful country with friendly people but he had no choice to defend it
It’s amazing how far our technology has come since WWII. Fighter pilot may be very smart and trained, but they could probably learn a thing or two from our WWII pilots
The entire damn millitary could. 4,000 P-51 mustangs were shot down in WW2. The kind of balls to fly one, knowing those odds, is something few posess today.
His hat says "Tuskegee". If he is a Tuskegee airman he was flying P51s, a badass plane for that time. My father was a WWII veteran and recently passed away at the age of 94. Sir, thank you for your service and God Bless.
Not to take anything away from his honorable service, but SSgt. Edwards never served overseas during WWII. He was an aircraft mechanic stationed near Detroit, Michigan and later at Louisville, Kentucky.
Bob Flendorg Air craft mechanics and Engineers were the backbone of the war effort people don’t realize prop planes break down so easily and with engineers and aircraft mechanics to repair the planes where would we be?
Being a medically retired combat Veteran, watching this WWII Veterans Reactions of the F-22 and then hearing what he has to say after. I had a HUGE smile on my face the whole time (not as big as his) and goosebumps trying to imagine the AWESOME sounds of the P-51's Merlin engine as they flew over HIS head on THEIR combat missions. This man IS a Living Legend and History Book.
"If you got a problem with the United States? You gotta make sure it's not a military problem"!. Wisdom from a gentleman. Thank you for this video! And God bless America and this gentleman warrior.
Listen up here...I say God Bless America because that's what I like to say. As well as many other Americans. Just like the saying "in God We Trust". Being that I didn't say God Bless my self? Either way, does that bother you? Isn't there something out there in the world that would better take up your time than questioning me about what I say or what I don't.......By the way? When someone sneezes in my country? It is customary to say "God Bless you" .......When some middle Eastern Country's people blow up a place loaded with innocents......what do you think they say???? "God is Great"!....Wouldn't that justify the comment as a sin?? You know for their "Blessed and Vile actions"? Or do you have a preference about what you think a sin is? Big or small. Curious.
thats because they have no work ethic when they get back home and also a guy in the air force could be a helicopter mechanic but only have ONE JOB and thats to replace parts on helicopters and so when he gets back he says he worked on helicopters but he only changed like one part where as another guy on his team changed out all the electrical while he might only fill the tires with are XD main reason theres no work ethic when they get back
its like working at chuckee cheese and then applying for a job as a cashier in another store and they see you have experince at chuckee cheese but you only dressed up and walked around as a mouse or some shit
no I think being a combat veteran with PTSD is very different than working at Chuckee Cheese. you only think its similar because you play video games for a living.
We had a Tuskegee Airman here in the ROK who passed away a few years ago. He was an honored member of the community. He was my auto insurance provider since the early '80s.

My grandpa is a 92 year old ww2 vet. He fought in North Africa as a radio man on the frontlines calling in positions for artillery and bombers to fire upon. He has a giant Nazi flag banner that he and his squadron took down from a building after taking it over. He’s showed it to me a few Christmases ago...still dirty from the day he took it and has about 3-4 bullet holes in it, honestly probably the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. He’s by far the greatest man I’ll ever know
It never fails to put a smile on my face to see old veterans react/see how advanced military technology has become, from fighter planes to fighter jets, from Shermans to Abrams etc. Salute to this man and I thank him for his service. :)
God bless him. Gentleman such as he and his contemporaries brought freedom back to Europe and Asia. Everyone in the free world owes him their never-ending gratitude and respect.
Facu330 Perez Dreher; Great respect for the Tuskegee Airmen! I always wanted Carrol Shelby to sign the dash in my 68' Ford Mustang (named after the P-51 Mustang fighter planes) but couldn't afford the requested donation to his children's heart fund. And now he's gone. Just last summer I had the great honor of meeting a friend of a friend who is 86 years old and was a Korean War era P-51 Mustang pilot. He flew, and survived being shot down in one. He was later trained to fly a F-86 Sabre, another of my favorites. Long story short, and after several rides in my car, I asked him if he'd sign my dash for me...... and he cried. After returning to his home in Texas, Joe sent me a picture of his P-51 'Little Joe.' I had it made into a dash plaque that is now affixed next to his name. I am the one who is truly honored. On a side note, has anyone seen a picture of the tribute Mustang that Ford produced in honor of the Tuskegee Red Tails?
Thank you for your service, SSgt. Edwards! My children and yours are loving the freedom you bought for them with your risk and sacrifice. God bless all the Tuskegee Airmen!
Leslie Edwards was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Memphis Tennessee. He was the youngest of three children, his father was bellhop and his mother looked after the children. The family moved from Memphis to Cincinnati in 1925. Before dropping out of high school in 1938, he attended Harriet Beecher Stowe School in Cincinnati Ohio. In 1944, Leslie Edwards was reassigned to Godman Field outside Louisville, KY. There he was made the Flight Chief of Flight A of the 617 Bomb Squadron responsible for maintaining the five B-25 bombers assigned to the squadron. Alex Zandate Don't put it off for long. Fewer and fewer of the greatest generation around every day. Sit down with them, and let them tell you their stories. I'm so grateful to have talked to my grandfather and his friends, who have passed away now, about their WW2 experiences. Truly incredible...
I’ve met and talked to a ww2 veteran who was at Pearl Harbor it was fascinating listening to him go on about the war and what he did he passed away from here a year ago he commanded my grandpa when he joined the army in 1972. I’m going to miss his story’s about the war but he’s in a better place now
Alex Zandate It's not that hard. Go to the grocery store on Memorial Day. Usually have veterans out front with fabric poppy flowers selling or requesting donations. My dad was in WW2. I always stop and chat up the WW2 vets, but their dying off fast. So don't procrastinate. Or call the VA and tell them you'd like to meet them and maybe volunteer some of your time if you can to help them. You'll be glad you showed these old boys respect and admiration. They deserve it. As do all veterans in some fashion.

ColoSon that's because they've forgotten that the Wehrmacht fought hard and sacrificed their lives just to protect Berlin and the rest of Germany from The allied and soviet soldiers.
My oldest sister was working at a Hillcrest retirement home and she took care of a Tuskegee airmen and she would come home and tell us the conversations they would have and then she came home one day crying because he passed away
My grandfather was flying a B-24 and it was severely damaged over Italy. They lost two engines and had to toss everything they could out just to keep airborne. That included the guns. Knowing that if even one German showed up they'd just jump out...they had little hope. They then saw a ME109 headed for them but out of nowhere came two P51's and gave chase. They then turned around, told them that they were their escort for as long as they needed them. Red Tails...He never forgot them.

I love the smile on that combat Pilots face! He's earned it, and besides it looks good on him. I wish we could let him fly one of those bad boys. Maybe even a computer simulation?

After coming back to Poland after war, he was arrested as 'an enemy from the West' and got tortured. His brother also was arrested because of that and murdered.
Thank you brave airman for liberating us in the 40s love you guys greetings from the Netherlands
your welcome, America kicked German butt
And us soviets
Well Russians
You mean us Russians with Lend Lease aid?
Let’s just say we all collectively kicked the Axis’ ass
It’s not a competition
I get teary eyed when I see old vet re-live they're days humbly, share stories with younger vets, or just experience the new things we have today and smile because they left the country in good hands.

Years ago i did some work on a couples home outside of D.C. The gentleman was a Tuskegee airman. What an honor it was to meet and talk to him.
This man is a true American hero. The Tusckege Airmen will never be forgotten. My hats off
Lmao america must lack heroes if this guy is one
Pata Crêpe lol do research before hating on the u.s you spoiled bitch
Explain to me how this guy is a hero then
Pata Crêpe fighting Nazis in Europe that wanted to dominate Europe Navy even the world
www.477fg.afrc.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/1342796/staff-sergeant-leslie-edwards-jr/
He was not even deployed
I love that guys attitude and his persona.
We would not have this fine country without Men like him! Thank You SSGT. Edwards. I served USMC AirWing 77-81. We are all links in the chain.
TheDustysix your service is appreciated!
Sammie Berry (my grandfather).
god bless this man. i’d love to have the opportunity to meet someone as wonderful as he is.
Bless you old timer.
Without the huge red arrow on the thumbnail I wouldn't have noticed that man
LMAO so true, that red arrow/circle bullshit is so stupid. Otherwise a good video though.
Tregeta I think you're missing the point. I legitimately couldn't see the man without the arrow
Yeah, I saw him in the thumbnail but nowhere in the video
Logi Cat Cause he's John Cena
Sorry for the dead meme
So klein ist die Welt
Not just any old Airman. A Tuskegee Airman!
eastside907 right! God bless those guys! I wish these young men today we're make these brave soldier's!
Not just a Tuskegee airman, a badass Tuskegee airman, much respect to you Sir, Thank you for your service..
Never let their legend die after the last one passes
My wee papa served his time for the British paratroopers in ww2 and survived past away in 2011 as a proud man 🙌🏼
your tather is a great vet veteran. im dutch and my granddad fought in the ww2 war against germany and later he went to indonesia (it was part of netherlands) against the Japanse .
Martin Kent
Not to take anything away from his honorable service, but SSgt. Edwards never served overseas during WWII. He was an aircraft mechanic stationed near Detroit, Michigan and later at Louisville, Kentucky.
He was part of the greatest generation. You must be proud of him.
Bob Flendorg Air craft mechanics and Engineers were the backbone of the war effort people don’t realize prop planes break down so easily and with engineers and aircraft mechanics to repair the planes where would we be?
God Bless
This Veteran belongs to the so called “Greatest Generation” respect to those young mans who served in that horrible war, WW2
The last true greatest generation. May god bless your soul, sir.
I would like to thank this Gentleman for His 🇺🇸WW2 🇺🇸Service , I still like the P 51 Mustang👍🇺🇸
W.O.V.10 there was an event in Renton,WA and for a price you can fly in a B-17 or a P-51 Mustang for a pretty hefty price.
"If you got a problem with the United States? You gotta make sure it's not a military problem"!. Wisdom from a gentleman. Thank you for this video! And God bless America and this gentleman warrior.
Polizei1945 *God Bless America
Curious.
Rick Sanchez what nonsense the fact that this idiot corrected him for no reason because we say GOD BLESS America all the time idiot
Thank you for your service Sir
Don't call him 'sir', he worked for a living.
He earned the title Sir out of respect and his age. Not his military service. I know the difference. Chill out
Thank you sir for your service.
We just don't use sir during service, but after is all good. They deserve to kick up the feet a bit.
Damn this hit the heart hard. Thanks for giving this man who served us, a few more experiences to take with him beyond.
I love listening to old vets talk
i like this americans act how showing respects to the people worked or fought for them. this is why they are big country.... respects from turkey...
Ha ha, most of veterans don't get no job & live on the streets
thats because they have no work ethic when they get back home and also a guy in the air force could be a helicopter mechanic but only have ONE JOB and thats to replace parts on helicopters and so when he gets back he says he worked on helicopters but he only changed like one part where as another guy on his team changed out all the electrical while he might only fill the tires with are XD main reason theres no work ethic when they get back
its like working at chuckee cheese and then applying for a job as a cashier in another store and they see you have experince at chuckee cheese but you only dressed up and walked around as a mouse or some shit
no I think being a combat veteran with PTSD is very different than working at Chuckee Cheese. you only think its similar because you play video games for a living.
SuperGeronimo999 Ha ha, not true
In a word Awesome.God bless our Veterans.🇬🇧🇺🇸
English Patriot bless mate!!! They are beautiful in every way :-) :-)
English Patriot oh and 🇨🇦
where is the soviet union ☭
the lost 16mill men a big god bless them ☭☭☭☭☭

Tuskegee Air Man? If so he is one of the last few.
We still have a couple that use the VA her in Pensacola.
You're from Pensacola? I was fortunate enough to meet one of theme a couple months ago. Kindest man i'v ever met.
We had a Tuskegee Airman here in the ROK who passed away a few years ago. He was an honored member of the community. He was my auto insurance provider since the early '80s.
C Bruce Strickland had to be.
Talk about a good wingman,..RedTails were miracle workers..germans saw their tail and quit back to base..alive.
Red tails, aint messing arround
Stand proud America! 💪🇺🇸
america is shit
Sirius why do you think that. If it really is, What other country is better
Peter B. stand proud of what. murder, rape, genocide. you know that an entire race was almost whiped off the earth. just so you can live in america and destroy it like you all have destroyed europe
Jay Ton What the fuck are you on about?
Sirius Thats why the USA is the only country to have freedom of speech protected by the government, Lowest unemployment rate, One of the best economys, yet every single european country is better? The ones that are taking in immigrants to replace european culture?
One of the few remaining living legends, Bravo Mr. Edwards. That's Elmendorf Air Force Base Alaska, I see those raptors blasting around all the time.
He’s by far the greatest man I’ll ever know
bradywalker414 Please tell him "thank you". Respect from this stranger and grateful citizen.
True American Hero
What a wonderful AMERICAN !
It was honor getting to meet SSgt Edwards once back in the early 1990's when I was serving in the USAF. Men like him are the reason I joined.
It never fails to put a smile on my face to see old veterans react/see how advanced military technology has become, from fighter planes to fighter jets, from Shermans to Abrams etc.
Salute to this man and I thank him for his service. :)
Thank you for your service!
must have wiped your face with it also as you have shit around your mouth. Other than that, pointless comment.
bruh he cant see your thank you
L-dubwesson bruh yeah he can if he reads the comments on this video bruh.
+L-dubwesson still doesn't stop her from showing gratitude...you ignorant fool ....bye now ..have a nice day :)
Hey Shaun you mad bruh? Dont be such a white knight.
This is great! His reaction and knowledge and smile makes it all worth while, god bless America and you sir!
We in 🇨🇦 salute you sir and thank you for your service 🤝
This country owes this man a great deal a gratitude. WW2 vets
God bless him. Gentleman such as he and his contemporaries brought freedom back to Europe and Asia. Everyone in the free world owes him their never-ending gratitude and respect.
Red Tails
What a kind man... amazing
Thank you for your service, SSgt. Edwards! My children and yours are loving the freedom you bought for them with your risk and sacrifice. God bless all the Tuskegee Airmen!
I LOVE MY COUNTRY FLAG AND THE PEOPLE THANK YOU SIR FOR BEING A LEADER AND A ROLE MODEL GOD BLESS AMERICA

"That will change a fools attitude".......because of people like you who served...:)
To "change a FOOL'S attitude." That right there is timeless southern country wisdom at it's sharpest.
Big Bill O'Reilly dude. You DO realize that the clintons lost, don’t you? Look around! See how America is being allowed to make itself great again...and it is working already? In SPITE of racist evil commie leftists...and WITHOUT their agendas or hatred? Not every Trump supporter or Southerner can be piled together in your hate frame. It’s understandable that you resent our military having such strength - what with it being the only force keeping our FREE land from becoming totally infested and run over with your comrades. Move to your utopian backwards pisshole dreamland where communism actually WORKS if you hate what makes this the greatest nation...oh wait - there ain’t no such pisshole. Just kill your self.
God bless President Trump. gonna go down as the best president in history and God bless this man being a real American serving our country. if you hate America, Get out or die like the enemy of America!
+libtard demotard destroyer (we the people) Jesus dude you need to chill. btw that username could actually prevent you from getting a decent job in society and it effects your image as a person. so be careful.
Man, I hope I get to meet this man and many other WW2 vets like him one day.
Alex Zandate
Don't put it off for long.
I’m going to miss his story’s about the war but he’s in a better place now
Alex Zandate
It's not that hard.
Well, you better get on it, because we are sadly seen
Alex Zandate I'd make that as soon a s you can !!! :-) :-) they won't be around much longer ,bless them ALL :-) :-)
God Bless him. Thank you for your service Sir
I’m from the uk 🇬🇧 but you sir are the reason I don’t speak German!
Thanks 🙏 from the bottom of my heart for giving me and my family a more stable world to grow up in.
I salute you sir
That alone will change a fool's attitude. Respect from India.
Pubg Zone i read that in an Indian accent🤣🤣🤣
“Dat Ahlon vill change a fols attiuude”
Thanks brother, God bless India .
I salute you, Sir! Thank you for your Service!
You do know he's Black, right?
Look, I have great respect for all the U.S. military that served in WWII, but especially for the Tuskegee Airmen, the Nisei Soldiers and the Navaho and Cherokee Code Talkers who fought for a nation that didn't want them except when they needed them.
All I can say it really is utterly despicable how some (LIKE YOU) have bought into the democrats race baiting agenda of division in this country.
Sigmund Solo = Another foul mouthed leftist that has bought into the lefts systemic racism lie (that he can't quite explain outside his second grade schoolyard attacks when asked) that the democrats try to sell on their media and internet that they have taken over to divide and conquer the American people.
We are AMERICANS! Not your identity politics black americans, not your identity politics white americans, not identity politics yellow americans, not your identity politics brown americans We The People are just AMERICANS!
Steve Yulenburg Wow...you didn't get it in the slightest, did you???
ya racist whites treated blacks like shit back then, it was unbelievable what they went thru
Steve Yulenburg some people don't remember racism in a country that used to lynch people with a certain amount of melanin in their skin but pepridge farm remembers
God Bless that man! Thank you for your service!
Holy lord! I just saw and heard my great grandad (just with darker skin), almost drew a tear.. god bless that man! Bless my grandad and all of you kids out there kickenA for us. Sincerely,
The U.S.A.
This man came home to segregation... think about that
Bless him and shame on us that we don't treat our (ex) military men like you treat yours.
Greetings from Germany
ColoSon that's because they've forgotten that the Wehrmacht fought hard and sacrificed their lives just to protect Berlin and the rest of Germany from The allied and soviet soldiers.
They view them as evil as racists yet they were just men like you and I fighting a losing war for there country
ColoSon. They are your national treasures.
ColoSon
Thanks, German friend. I have ancestors on both sides during both World Wars. Both deserve to be honored for their sacrifices.
SS needs respect too from germans, they didn't have a choice on what to do. They were forced.
Thank you brother for you service!
One word from across the pond... " RESPECT"
My oldest sister was working at a Hillcrest retirement home and she took care of a Tuskegee airmen and she would come home and tell us the conversations they would have and then she came home one day crying because he passed away
man has such a great aura, salute 🫡
The Greatest Generation. Thank you
This really brought a tear to my eye. God bless that man!
God Bless You, Sir! Thank you for your service.
Much respect sir, thank you for your service SSgt Leslie Edwards.
Disgusting - 13 dislikes? More than heartwarming! I would have been so disappointed not hearing this gentleman's reaction. Thank you so much for your service, Hon. SSgt Edwards and God bless you!! Thanks also for such a great upload!!
Jeff B haters gonna hate....
Probably because they're racist or just dislike America
Nazis?
Rifles First
Actually they helped quite a bit with the French underground.
Without them D-DAY might have turned out differently.
More like the toddler knew what troops were where and information about the bases.
Thank you for your service and God Bless our vets.Infantry leads the way.
wow you can see how proud he is, this is a true american man ! good bless you and thanks for fighting for my freedom so many years back ,,,,
What distances you have traveled on a journey the likes of which may never be witnessed again. I am a veteran of lesser battles because of the great battles that you and my father, and others of your generation, fought so well so long ago. You deserve to be celebrated and it is we who are honored to be in your presence.
Sir, thank you SO much for your service! God bless you.
The most beautiful thing I've seen this month. 😁 God bless..
Love that man! And he’s absolutely correct! God bless him!

Np9123 Again you troll account? You're a moron!!!
I like this guy.
You can see the pride this man has..just the excitement his smile has..thank you for your service sir....thank you
I love the smile on that combat Pilots face! He's earned it, and besides it looks good on him.
I wish we could let him fly one of those bad boys. Maybe even a computer simulation?
not to insulting him or anything but I hope one day when he dies, he'll has his place in heaven for all of his efforts to change the world
and greetings from Indonesia
Thank you for your service, sir.
Patriot.
The gleam in his eyes and smile on his face says it all. Besides the fact that he's as cute as can be!! 😂
Thanks for your service airman Edwards!
