    If only they made a skidder that could pickup and unload it's own hitches

    What's the advantages of this clambunk without crane against a common skidder?

    • @tigercat.machines

      The clambunk achieves much larger payloads, compared with a grapple skidder. Because it is confined to the log matt, it is reliant on a shovel logger to build several bunches into a full load. The low ground pressure shovel logger can often work off the matt, organizing and consolidating the loads. The end result is much wider spaced extraction matt roads than would be possible if the clambunk was self loaded. This in turn contributes to greatly reduced ground disturbance in sensitive soft terrain and lowland harvesting operations.

    What's the benefit of this design over using a buncher and a conventional grapple skidder? To me this looks like adding an unnecessary extra step between felling and bringing lumber to the processor. I'm a fan of Tigercat forestry equipment but this seems like a solution to a problem that does not exist.

      The advantage is being able to drag more. Clambunks are used in the swamp where long pulls are prevalent.

      @@smitchell2339 10-4, I log in the mountains so its mostly steep grades and whatever a conventional skidder can drag up with the help of a tether. We use a 632 and that's about as big as you can get with the tethers in my area.

    I dont understand why you would run this setup. Two machines taking twice the time to move nearly the same amount of wood a regular boom/crane grapple skidder could move?

    Seems a bit redundant having a skidder that needs to be loaded and unloaded doesn't it

    Mounted knuckleboom loader on it so it can load itself

    Yeah just get 635, that thing would suck on slopes,and then you don't need another machine to load the skidder

    • @ChaseLandMgmt
      @ChaseLandMgmt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re doing long pulls with big wood, the 640 may be a better option just because of capacity. But I agree and think the 635 is much more versatile.

  • @feedwheels623c

    Lol a 630 could pull that little baby drag! Shovel hand shouldve loaded er down more! I know that 640 can haul more then that

    Achei desnecessário esse tipo de máquina, um skkider normal com pinça leva a mesma quantidade praticamente, não é não depende de uma máquina para carregar e outra para descarregar!!
