Well done congratulations you have made great work in very short time (very productive). By the way you have also protecting the forest soil with that little Wooden Harvester like in the old time they used two horses for that work. Great wish to you 🇨🇷🐘🇨🇭to🇸🇪💪👍🇸🇪
These are some of the most amazing atv timber accessories. I have a Grizzly and this setup would be awesome for bringing back logs for whatever purpose. 🤤
Not to mention the skill and experience the operator exhibits. Phenomenal example of professionalism in forestry. This is a testament to ingenuity and work ethic.
first i thought this could be a big waste of money, because it looks pretty expensive. but then you were pretty fast with the chainsaw and the way you work, im impressed of how efficent those downscaled machines can be.
One man operation to harvest trees but where is the chipper attachment for shredding the left over branches so they will rot faster? looks good on flat ground ,i wonder what traction you get going up hills?
Only thing I'd change is to use a choker on the winch cable. Save the cable, and make it a smidge less likely to snap and hurt operator. Really Freakin sweet getup though.
I've worked in woodland management with many skilled female operators who could've felled, snedded and stacked a couple of trees while you're still trying to tension your chain. Nice try.
Vad har ni gjort för Polaris fjäderna eftersom den bär väget av pump enheten så bra och hela ATVn sitter hel tiden så högt up? Har ni egen delarna för detta eller kan man ha dom från Polaris?
I was a Sawyer with the u.s forest service for 3 years... I could fall., measure and cut 3 trees in half the time, with half the effort. The only thing this does different is that it bunches the limbs into a slag pile.
It goes into sites too wet or sensitive for heavy machinery. I've seen ancient woodland in UK wrecked by sending in heavy forwarders. The profits will be good but the damage to soil structure, mycorrhizal associations and ground flora will be long lasting. There is a right and a wrong tool for every woodland. A skilled forester knows when to drive in and when not to.
Two questions, for anyone who is familiar with this type of logging, which I think is from Europe but correct me if I'm wrong. First, why do the loggers cut the trees into log lengths in the woods? Here in the US we pull out the trees full length, then cut into logs at the loading area. In our opinion it makes log dragging go faster. Second question, what is done with the very small logs that the processor is making? Are they for firewood, maybe? Thank you for posting the video. As a fellow logger I always enjoy seeing logging in other parts of the world.
Over system is build that way. the harvester get the data from the sawmill automatically every day. The forwarder drives it to the main road. The timber truck have it on crane and load is self. That way we have 3 machines from forest to right lengths on the sawmill and no one is depending on any one other. 2. It is for the paper industry.
I can see the point it will increase the forests profitability buy allowing wind fall trees or trees that have been cut for thinning to be transported out for sale with out the need to chop down trees for a big harvester to get to them. Plus for a one man band operation running costs will be significantly lower.
College students would be expected to do all of that manually. Them logs wouldnt be that heavy anyway. Wouldnt you just use tge processor on all of it fell it then use machine for the rest no need for all his fancy snedding
How much cable can the winch hold? What is the cable diameter in inches? Concept is ingenious! The hardest part of cutting is the limping. This deals nicely with that aspect. This system will out produce a skidder especially if you expect the same quality work. As a forester, I could never get an operator to cut 6" trees and pull cable 75' off the trail!
In Sweden the most comment customer is private forest owner. the customer don´t wont to have big machine in the forest and think it is to heavy to only work whit chain saw.
That looks pretty cool but how many little logs like that would have to be recovered and sold to pay for that machine. Watch the turntable ,mast flex where it comes out of the frame. The whole machine is made of stamped steel. Do you think it will last the years it would take to pay it off?
Interesting video of some light impact equipment that would be good for first and second thinning. The chainsaw operator needs to stop cutting by dragging the saw towards himself when the bar is on the same side of the fallen tree, snedding (removal of the branches) should be done by pushing the saw away from you, thereby cutting on the top of the guidebar, before any advancing, thereby removing the risk of running the saw into your legs. The top cutting is the only back stroke and clears space for the operator to place the saw on the opposite side of the tree and cut with top of the guidebar whilst advancing forward so if you trip etc, the saw is between you and the tree trunk. Safer, fast and efficient. P.S. Don't chock the log with the main cable as it bends and weakens it, instead, use a short section of forestry chain with a suitably rated hook and eye (much more durable).
And with price of all this three machines you can buy a real forest machine (harvester/wood transport tractor). I gues that all of this 3 machines costs over 10 000€ = over 30 000€ - 40 000€. Easier to buy used 4WD tractor (about 15 000€) and forest trailer with loader (also about 15 000€). Costs about same much of money as machines seen in this video, but takes 8-10 times more cargo. And goes better in hard terrain. So... I don`t get any reasons why to buy these machines.
Will B and this size equipments has small amount of free area between ground and this machine. (I have not idea what is right word). Machine that has bigger wheels, example tractor, can go over bigger obstacles like rocks and tree stumps. If i were engineer of this machine i don`t want to put 8 wheels, why 4 bigger wheels is not enough? Tell me pls. If wheels is bigger, there is not needed portal axels = less moving parts = less parts that needs maintenance and less parts that can break. Pls tell if i am wrong.
And if you don`t fit between trees with tractor, those trees are USUALLY too close. No idea to drive between all trees, trees get damage. Make "roads"/"ways"( I don`t know right word) to forest and drive on those. Use winch to get trees nearer and pick them up.
Very expensive for a machine that can only handle small logs. I’m guessing it wouldn’t work very well on the side of a hill. What do you haul the machine to the site with? Really only seems useful if you’re cutting firewood on your own property.
Nice machine but i wonder if it can be productive as it is show very slow working and you have to do so much with a chain saw. I am a forestry worker in finland and i dont think that it is productive enough to be worth the prise an fuel efficiency of the machine. But if some one that have used this pease off equipment can tell me their perspective i am happy to listen
I'm thinking a skidloader with a grapple and one man on a chainsaw could out perform this machine. To much gadgetry for simply cutting firewood. I'd would also like to see it on a 16 inch red oak for example. Pretty sure you'd find the weak spots real quick.
While the machine is neat, I can't see its cost being offset by the value of the materials harvested. Those little logs aren't going to be useful for much other than chips. Unlikely any of those are going to produce much in terms of useful timbers.
