I remember logging as a kid growing up in Northern B.C. in the 70's and 80's. There would be at least 30-40 guys working on a logging operation. We could log only in the winter due to the soft ground so it was a 24 hour operation. Fallers, line skiddermen, buckers, wheel loadermen and the odd foreman. This was before bunchers even. Don't get me wrong, the advancements made by equipment manufactures is great, but it's nice having guys employed.

Tigercat is a privately owned Canadian company. The products are manufactured in southern Ontario and always have been.

Technology is great, but ultimately it means fewer guys working in the bush.
Good point. One of Tigercat's mandates is to mechanize all aspects of logging operations throughout the world wherever possible in order to get people off the ground so that they are not exposed to the associated dangers, hazards and repetitive strain injuries.

Correct - a shovel logging operation somewhere in the southeast, maybe South Carolina.

If I was rich, I would buy one and convert it to a very decent off-roading vehicle, then put my kayak on the roof.

@pburkeame I guess its time to sharpen your axe and Bucksaw and try to make a buck. See how far you get. I rather run a Feller Buncher anyday then run a Powersaw and I have done both for years. And fewer and fewer guys want to run powersaw, not to mention the Danger.

Is this "high tech" in the states? Looks like logging was done here something like 40 years ago.
