- I'll be showing a couple sealants I like to use on my house exterior that have great durability and easy application. These sealants will help keep any bugs and cold weather out of your home.

A place I rented had a sizeable gap around the AC lines where I discovered that's where mice were coming in. Landlord didn't give a darn ("it wasn't a structural/safety issue..." and accusing me of attracting the mice???)... Anyway, I finally got some copper mesh material, stuffed some of it in the gap, and sprayed that anti-pest flavored Great Stuff over it. Then of course finished-off the meces that were still indoors. Solved in about a week. Up yours, former slumlord LOL!
If it was my own home, I'd have done a neater job. And this was like 20 years ago. Just sharing 😎
Landlords are scum. No offense to the creator of this channel who I think is also a landlord from what I remember.
Between the hoses shown at 0:50 there's presumably a narrow air gap that isn't getting sealed, since you sealed only the perimeter. Is there a way to force sealant between the hoses, or are you certain that gap is too small to be of concern?
You could just place a bit of sealing in the middle to ensure everything is water/air tight. Specifically on my home I wasn't too concerned between the lines.
>everydayhomerepairshelp7417 : The reason why I asked about "forcing" sealant between the hoses is that it looks in the video like the hoses can't be (temporarily) spread apart to allow sealant to easily be "placed" between them.
Your siding made me think of this -- you're always told to check the caulking around your windows for cracks, but none of the videos I see feature houses with aluminum siding like mine. It's always wood to brick or wood to wood. I do have some air infiltration on my wood windows, but it's surrounded by aluminum trim on the outside, so I can''t tell where I'm supposed to be looking for leaks.
Clean work. Thank you for sharing
You bet!
Too bad they don't make a split grommet for things like this but multiple lines won't conform to a perfect circle. Ugh. Nothing is perfect. That's why its called homeowner maintenence
There is always something calling for your attention when you own a home 💯
Have you tried “Big Stretch?” My father inlaw swears by it, but i prefer silicone where water can be. He says it is okay
Oh man, I have not but a LOT of people seem to be making the switch. I need to give it a go,
@@everydayhomerepairshelp7417 they have a sample pack that you can get on their website! Maybe give them a review and I’ll take your advice on whether to use it or not! I think it had 6 different types of sealants! One you’re able to mix paint into! Pretty cool stuff they have!
What was that putty stuff you showed us a while back. It might have been another channel but I think it was you.
The grey goo? Duct seal.
Duct Seal 👍
@@youdontknowme5969 yeah dats da stuff
@@everydayhomerepairshelp7417 isn't that a better than silicon for this sort of use?
