  • Visit theanxietyguy.com/my-program/ to begin your natural recovery from anxiety through the #1 CBT program online.
Description: I work with many people through Skype that are concerned that they just may be losing their focus/concentration in their lives, coupled with short term memory loss. The question I get is can anxiety cause memory loss and concentration issues?
The simple answer is yes, it can. But it's also important not to chalk this down as just being related to anxiety as a quick doctors visit can put your mind at ease from anything serious. Research has shown that stress severely impairs the short term learning and concentration areas of the brain. This means that when a person is constantly triggering their stress response, they begin cycling around memory loss and concentration issues immediately.
The important thing to understand is these memory and concentration issues are another symptom of anxiety. Prolonged sensitized nerves can trigger a host of strange, and worrying feelings that begin to lessen as the root of the anxiety gets targeted and eliminated.
CBT is a fantastic method to help people suffering from these symptoms of anxiety. The sooner you become willing to learn and change, the sooner CBT can help you being your road to recovery from stress and anxiety in your life.
REMEMBER, YOU ARE MORE THAN ANXIETY!

@Dr Reform You're kidding me right? People wanna always focus on diet, instead of the real causes of so many problems in this world. My anxiety and anger was caused by my childhood & toxic family, not the comfort food I just ate. Typical you let families off the hook, like so many do.

The fact that a guy is putting himself out there and having the courage to be vulnerable makes me so inspired and gives me joy. Generally men feel find it harder to open up about thier feelings because of the society that we live in, when some of these men are too afraid to ask for help they can become suicidal. Your channel is challenging that stigma, that is so beautiful.

I just want to say I have dealt with this on and off throughout my life, exactly as he described it. Even writing this I can feel it coming back. For me the best way to deal with it is too acknowledge that it is exactly what he said it is. There is not something wrong with you, your own internal stress is causing these symptoms in yourself. Once you can accept that the next thing to do is to not worry about it. I know it is hard, but just do this. When you feel like you just forgot something or your inability to concentrate is coming back, realize it is only happening because you are letting it happen. Accept that you have that symptom and keep doing what you are doing. Once you accept that it is there it looses power to affect you. You need to ignore it and go on with what you were doing, it's hard to do but the less pressure you put on yourself to overcome and the more you accept what is happening and continue with your day the less it bugs you. Also, a big help for me was realizing this. If you were walking and a bear started chasing you (or something similarly dangerous) you would not be thinking about your stress and inability to concentrate you would do your best to escape the situation and your sole focus would be in that moment not on your anxiety. What I'm trying to say is if you can find something to focus on you will stop having these symptoms, if only for a brief period, and once you realize you just didn't have the symptoms for even a short time, it becomes easier to accept them for what they are, just symptoms.

Thank you so much for making this video. I have been slowly recovering from an anxiety disorder for the past couple of years. I had overcome many fears over this time (depersonalization, derealization, stomach pain, heart rate issues) but I always had a maintained a lingering fear that the brain fog that I was experiencing was some sort of permanent effect of this prolonged anxious state. I thought perhaps that this was early stage Alzheimer's/dementia or something like that. After watching this video a couple of weeks ago, I was immediately relieved in knowing that this too was a common symptom of anxiety. This was key in letting go of this lingering fear and I have truly felt back to my "normal self". My brain fog has been lifted as well; the improvement occurred immediately once the stress response stopped. Just want to let anyone know who is experiencing this that any anxious symptom you are experiencing will fade away once you let go of that fear.

And things cling onto my memory and it makes it hard to know what happened out of all the timelines. It is hard to remember fact from fiction alot of times. I have had depression for more than a year by now. They were the most crucial days of my life. I neglected sleep and food, stopped socializing, stayed at home engaging in no real tasks during these really difficult time. Nowadays, I think more about myself than I usually did in the past years. I also seemed to develop anxiety due to the symptoms that depression produced. Inability to focus, concentrate, remember recent and past events, fatigue, foggy feeling in my head and chronic illnesses made me more concerned and caused fear that evolved in me day by day. The fear of being judged, feeling of worthlesness, fear of negligence by loved ones haunted me. My memory issues even created a fear in me that I might lose my mind completely if there is nothing I could do about it. Your speech reassured me and made me feel more confident than how I felt some minutes ago. You changed my perceptions towards my thinking. Funny how someone that I found on youtube from random google search can change the way I think! Keep doing what you're doing. The world needs your positivity and love.

This is the BEST channel I have found to help me understand, cope and hopefully conquer my anxiety. One little trick that I've found that kinda helps me is to tell myself in times of health anxiety worry (which is my biggest problem... Especially the fear of Alzheimer's, which to me is the worst of all diseases😔) is that there's no point in worrying until it's diagnosed. Then I can worry, but not right now. Subconsciously what that does is tell me that I might not even have what I fear. Its very hard to consciously believe you dont have what you fear when you're struggling with Anxiety but this trick somehow bypasses my own reasoning and go to my subconscious, which works for me. Thank you so much for what you do, you are an Angel👼 in my eyes🌹

I have a request. I know you have talked a lot about what kind of diet helps with relieving anxiety, but I would really appreciate it if you could do a detailed diet video with giving guidelines on what type of meals to take and what to avoid etc. I will be so grateful! Thanks for all your help. :)

I'm having a bout of OCD/Anxiety/Depression & I'm finding it difficult to remember people's names, which was barely ever an issue for me throughout the 37 yrs of my life. Sometimes it takes me a day to remember close relatives/friend's or common celebrities names. This caused me to spiral further into anxiety & would seek affirmations through people and/or Google searches to ensure that it is not something serious/chronic
Thankfully Sir,your video is a beacon of hope for me & I'm trying to get into terms with my brain that this is nothing but OCD/Anxiety playing its trick or facade on me as usual!

I watched your anxiety vid, I truly hope you are better now, I've recently experienced what you've been through, it's excruciatingly hard not to recognise the person you've been with, on my part it was a 15 years marriage, but i'm sure you can still relate, if the love was the same, the pain was probably the same.
But as you say, it makes you a stronger person, and that's what keeps me going.

And I also wanted to let you know I find it extremely courageous what you've done, a lot of people couldn't have done it, they would have been scared of other people would think of them as weak, but it is sooo very very brave!!

Cj weekly! yes! Same here , that’s a symptom called derealization and it’s normal for anxiety , most likely people who have anxiety experiences that all the time , I’d always get it too and if your having it just ignore it and just don’t worry or panic cause it will make it worse I did that before and it doesn’t feel good 😔 so I would just say just accept that it’s just your anxiety and it’s a symptom.

I just thought my brain was messed up! I forget things a lot. Things that are important and I should remember but I remember the wrong things. I have been forgetting my grandpa and my grandma is going away as well. I forget assignments and I forget names, things I had to eat, clothes I worn etc. My mom says it's not and issue but she says the same thing about my anxiety. Thank god I know now

Im just waking up to the fact that I have Anxiety. I had no idea. I thought it was my adhd and brain trama etc etc etc.. but I've been learning it is my bodies stress response to like 6 trauma's in a short period time. I thought I was loosing my mind and I had a body chemical change in my hormones. I argued with my doctors then I just quit going .. then I founds some wonderful youtubers … Life is better now !! Not finished and healed , but so much better. I love that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that I get to see it :) anxiety and depression are so over looked.

Tammy Hammonds I'm still changing and evolving. I am learning new skill sets and and having a better time seeing things more clearly. Who I want to be, what I want to do, etc. Still tapering off of klonopin so some days are more difficult than others. Just can't wait to be completely free from these meds and start really healing my brain and body. How are you doing?
