I loved doing this video because I got to experience Ugandan food for the first time and it did not disappoint! Excited to showcase more East African food over the next months!
We need a competition on, which East African country (Uganda, Kenya Rwanda or Tanzania) cooks the best Pilau rice and chapati 😊

1st girl deserved to win! I really liked this video but the winner scoring her a 6 after heaping a bunch of praise on her food and calling her his competition wasn't cool. Also bear in mind the other women gave her a 9 and 8 collectively. Neutral taste testers are needed when the score is this close/any hint of bias is shown!!

Facts then he rated the one girls plate that had no flavor a 6, so I was not sure how the first one received a 6, when the flavor was there. They should have ppl that did not cook the dish, judge the food to avoid bias

You guys might want to run that math again. 9.5+7+6.5 does not equal 23.5. It equals 23. So even with him underscoring Jawhara after singing her foods praises, they still actually tied.

He cheated! How did the first dish get a 6 along with the girl who's food had no flavor? His numbers were not making sense, and he low balled the first girl to win 🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ he raved about how good the first plate was, and unfairly gave a low ball number
I was quite shocked when he claimed to have enjoyed it and scored her a 6 lol… does it need to be out of this world before you say 9 or 10
Maybe he enjoyed it alot but tasted better? That’s how it could be lol but again a lot of people low ball in hopes they win themselves 😂
He knew the second he put her dish in his mouth that she would win so he lowballed her on purpose.
This is why they need to be blindfolded every time.

First of all, the dish sounds really good. I like this group, honest, fun shade, but didn't take themselves too seriously. As someone who doesn't know anything about Ugandan food, I'm looking forward to other ones from them.

You can search on TH-cam for Ugandan dishes especially luwombo and matooke. There is luwombo of chicken, beef, groundnuts etc with tutorials and all. Luwombo is a cooking method where food is steamed in banana leaves.

never had ugandan food and dont know what this food is supposed to look like but the first and last dish looked delicious!!!! I especially want to try that last dish because the meat looked so well seasoned!

I see that everyone in the video were very humble and offered constructive positive feedback which I love to see.
I do feel everyone else's score in contrast to Mulinde's were alot more generous and that scoring was off.. it should've been a tie for first? Anyway good video and I would love to see more of East African dishes or even the West in fact.

For full effect all th matooke must come from the same cluster. If they are mixed up it wont taste all that. The leaves then give the flavor n taste. Cz alone they do not carry much taste
Then the luwombo leaf has to be smoked carefully or it burns. If gives the sauces you choose to put extra flavor
Smoking the meats before is a plus in taste
Proud Dual Citizen of the Uganda & the UK ... Luwombo is my favourite dish

Had the most delicious matoke and beef stew in tororo a border town in Uganda, almost a year ago, 👌🏽👌🏽

This has made me miss Uganda and my trip I had there. I loved the food, I loved the people and I loved the country. They found it hilarious when I thought Mzungu meant Hello and started saying it to people while waving. I quickly found out I was wrong🤣

as a caribbean native i never thought of green banana as being 'raw' lool maybe unripe is a better descriptor loool
Green banana and or semi ripe plantains; even green plantains can be used. Peeled the veggie and wrapped it in banana leaves or coal fire until baked or roasted.
I would just boil the banana or plantain easier, maybe add oregano/bouillon cubes to the boil water for flavour profile.

Here in Uganda, the matooke is raw, you can't eat it uncooked,it can ripen, but it raw
No we gat different varieties there thoz specifically for food and thoz for fruits and juice
Bananas are either raw (ripe and unripe) or cooked/processed. A dictionary can be used to verify this.
