    Holy moly, finally a straight answer! I kept looking for what a 'normal' blood glucose level should be and i could only find answers for what someone with diabetes should aim for, not for what is actually normal. I actually can have something to look for when trying to control my levels, as everything I've heard as well as from my doctor said just under 140 is good.

    This important herb with an unusual name is from a woody plant that grows in India and in the Far East. It has been used for centuries in the treatment of diabetes. Numerous benefits can be derived from the consumption of gymnema: it decreases blood sugar levels; it decreases insulin requirements; it regenerates the beta cells of the pancreas and allows them to produce more insulin; and it aids the glucose in crossing the blood vessel wall to reach nutritionally deprived cells.”

    A1C definitely should be less than 5. I have noticed that the "normal" range for fasting blood sugar levels have increased over the years according to my medical provider. Very strange, IMO. As people become less healthy, is the medical system changing the results to keep people in the "normal" range? Maybe. Thankfully intermittent fasting and keto has helped me get my blood sugar into a very healthy range.

    I am curious about some of those numbers. Not suggesting Dr Berg is incorrect. But if damage occurs with Glucose levels over 100 that then suggests that anytime you eat you're inducing damage to the beta cells. I realize he further uses the numbers post meal of less than 140. So if you're fasting glucose levels over 100 damage beta cells but after eating no damage occurs until higher than 140 levels? That makes no sense. Is it 100 or 140? Surely there is a sustained glucose level(s) we need to be concerned about. Momentary levels above a certain amount are okay as long as they return to lower normal levels.

      It's an average. It's like blood pressure. Is exercise good for you. Yes. Does exercise jack up your blood pressure ....YES, very much so. But it helps to lower your resting blood pressure so when you do exercise it's not as high. Resting glucose (fasting) is the same as taking your blood pressure in a rested relaxed state. It's the bottom your number will be all day. But is used as a control measurement.

    • @nancylouin2002
      @nancylouin2002 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@joec1212that can be frustrating and even scary. How high are the numbers? If you've been diabetic and are overweight it may take some time. There is glucose stored in your liver and other tissues that will start metabolizing into the blood stream causing a paradoxic seeming rise. When we fast, our insulin is not released which is one of the benefits of fasting. If the insulin is not released, the sugar can stay high for a while. Also, for many people, their glucose is a little high in the morning. This happens because we release cortisol right before waking. Cortisol raises blood sugar. It's a glucocorticoid. Glucose is in the name. Prednisone and other steroids do the same thing. Again, it seems like a paradox, but sometimes if you eat a little something(not sugar or sugar substitute) it causes an insulin release and the blood sugar will go down. If you are super insulin resistant, it can take a while for your body to become more sensitive again. Good luck!

      @@eastmeetswest8194 You are welcome. So I am guessing 10.5 was your most recent A1C test result? I have read lots of comments on youtube videos of people drastically reducing their A1C levels, even if they've been type 2 for 20 years, by doing keto or low carb. If you are really just beginning the first thing is to cut out as many sugars and starchy carbs (potatoes, beans, grains) and especially regular bread which is just like sugar. You can even buy keto Bread these days, depending on where you live, if you love sandwiches or toast so much.
      Intermittant fasting is eating all your meals, or one meal a day even, within a small window, so your eating window could be 6 hours and so you are actually fasting for 18 hours each day. This has substantial therapuetic effects. Don't be overwhelmed, get the carbs down first and start watching videos about keto, subscribe to Dr Berg and Dr Mindi. Dr Mindi Pelz is all into fasting so she will teach you heaps about that and has forums etc. to join.
      It seems that dietery guidelines are probably influenced heavily by industries that supply food, which is not good for us and makes things pretty difficult for regular doctors too.
      Ivor Cummins works out of Ireland. His videos/seminars about high blood sugar and high insulin are pretty eye opening, especially in relation to heart disease.

    I was diagnosed with diabetes 5 years ago and started out at the blood sugar level of 314 and HbA1c 13. I recently increased intermittent fasting from 18 hours to 21 hours, and right away started losing weight steadily. When I checked my blood while doing 18 hours, my HbA1c was 5.4 (it was close to 5.9 for the past four years) and my blood sugar finally went below 100 (it was 85). I was quite happy with the result until I saw this video. I guess I have to work harder to get the HbA1c below 5. Dr. Berg's expression, "do it in time" caused great alarm. Is taking five years to come to this level at my current age of 65 too slow, or do I still have a chance of recovering my beta cells and reversing diabetes?

      @@yashito8150keep up the good work!😊 In 2012, I was on 200 units of insulin a day, victoza injections and they were quite excited about starting me on another third injection. The insurance was paying $1500/month for the insulin alone. I was doing everything the doctor said and getting worse fast! I was doing intense exercise 1 1/2 hours a day, 1000"calories" a day, no sugar and I don't eat substitute sugar. They told me to eat more beans and legumes, pasta, popcorn, and whole grains-so I did. I kept gaining weight until I was almost 300#! So I stopped what the endocrinologist and diabetic association told me to do. I bought a ton of glucose strips. I tested every glucometer they wanted me to use and I insisted on using the brand that was accurate. When I tested my blood before during and after every meal and also in between, I saw the big lies Beans "stabilize" your blood sugar by jacking it up to 300 and keeping it there for days. Pasta was worse! Popcorn for one night and it's a week to get back to normal! Everything they told me was a lie! I cut out legumes, grains. Cut back on the exercise and started horsing down porterhouses. I also started eating fruit and found it didn't raise the sugar much at all(some fruits do) I even tested after a piece of dark chocolate and sugar went up and right back down. I stopped counting calories and stopped eating some other foods that I found out I was sensitive to. Got off the drugs and lost over 100# in 18 months. I'm still diabetic but off all drugs for it and maintaining fairly well. It can still take a 36 hour fast to go under 85 in the morning, but I know I would have been dead years ago if I had followed doctors and government's orders!
      Glad to meet another successful health warrior!
