A friend and I attempted to break the world record for Fort of the damned. While trying the speed runs I learned a lot of tips and tricks to complete the Fort really quickly.

Tip for knowing which flame to use, the hands below the statue light up to let you know what skellie types will be in the wave

That is one of the very first tips I learned for FotD! And I've only done it like a handful of times, probably only once with my own crew starting it.
It takes about 4 tridets to defeat the boss. So u can stack a bunch of tridents from a shrine and complete it very fast.
AND instead of traveling all across the map to try to gather all 6 flames, you can literally get 5 out of 6 flames in a treasury, plus a bunch of tridents to comfortably kill the boss.

@@pelvismen5510 White - you must hit the Eelectric when it's charging its electricity orb and die from it. It deals very little damage, so you have to be very low on hp. Pink - not possible (unless there is another crew in the treasury), that's why I said "5 out of 6 flames".

It's much faster to get lights from the Treasuary of Lost Ancients. You can get all 4 lights from the Ocean Crawlers (Poison from the poison "green" crawler, Blue from Sirens, White from the electric ocean crawler, Green from any ocean crawler) set yourself on fire and you're already at 5 flame. you only need now the pink player one and you're officially done with setting up.

@@RealCardmaster you have to swim down for every light lol but the tridents do help a lot. takes 3.5-4 tridents to finish the boss in 2 minutes

Normally, I get the pink flame first. because if I get the other flames before for getting that one, those pirates could sink my ship and I will lose my ritual skull and the flames of fate. So here's my tip: first, get the pink flame. second, get the rest of the flames of fate. then finally, get the ritual skull.

I'm tempted to do a fort of the Damned, but my idea was I try to ally with 1 or 2 ships so 3 crews can tackle it together. Then split the loot or break the Alliance and last crew standing gets the loot. However, knowing how people are in this game, getting that to actually happen is a 1 in a Billion chance
tried to do it with an ally before, they betrayed and were so toxic. They kept saying stuff like “you thought we would actually team with you”. i’d say not worth, but if you’re down to do fotd hit me up
I mainly solo, and duo
FOTD is hard if you don’t know what you’re doing, but for me I’ve soloed it, and I’ve also done it with a duo as well. You just have to really be in tune with your buddy and it’s super easy to do.
Alliances are always risky as you are always under threat of a double cross, but if you also are a lone ship at the fort, you’re sometimes a pvp magnet. It’s a win lose situation, alliancing could keep you safe but it could also be the very thing that sends you to Mr Jones.
If you want to do FOTD sometime let me know, I’m pretty skilled at it and I’ve already done most of the commendations for it
@@obliviousdisaster I teamed up with two more sloop's a brig, and then a Galleon came made us think they're and took all of our cannons and wood, so we all had to sink it, we did but they kept coming back. We had 5 ritual skulls and barley managed to finished one of them
that happened to us earlier, we landed on top after they were taking our battlegills. Got 2 fotd loot (300k) from our ex-allianced ship
You can also die by lightning by standing next to a blue ocean crawler, I think the poison from those green crawlers also works for the purple light.

@@RealCardmaster Storm could be faster, but if the storm is far out, just check every island you pass for Ocean Crawlers on your way to the storm.

In terms of weapon combos you must use a blunderbuss it outmatches any weapon in terms of fotd. The second weapon is up to you I usually use the eye of reach for the long distance shots to kill the kegs skeletons without needing to get up close. But sword and flintlock work fine.

Another thing that you can do with kegs are that you can place them in a rock wall at a certain angle and they cannot be moved when placed in that spot but can still be shot or sword slashed

Kraken will also count as purple if you suicide by slashing it. You can also kill your teammate with a venomball if you have one

Note, going back and forth between getting the skull getting the flames and all of the barrels, the prep work alone right there takes over 10 minutes. He's talking about the final end result after all preparation is done. The fight will take less than 10 minutes.
More like you get to reap the spoils of dealing with every ship nearby trying to tuck/sink you. But this is still a fun idea I want to try
Yeah, I feel this man! I mean the best thing I guess about this strat is you reduce the amount of time the FOTD skull is flashing for players to see in the sky.
@@RealCardmaster That's true. Especially if you can get the kegs setup from the other islands before getting it going.
you can speed run this with a brig crew in around 8mins avg. If everyone knows what they're doing. (repeatable after each round for stacking)
Theres also some more cheeky things you can do to shave off a few mins.
most crews avg is 15mins. So good luck out there.
start your session with a pvp fight, throw, and boom pink light first. and getting all that tnt for prep makes this much longer than 10 minute lol

I'm about to start grinding the FoTD with one of my buddies for the achievement (Clear of all enemies 25 times). I was wondering if we start the fort, and someone kills us then finishes it, do we get the point towards the advancement? Or does it not count because we didnt kill the boss?
You just gotta be close to the island, even tuckers who haven't killed a single skeleton get credit for the completion. hope that helps :)
Me and my crew we all switch to the blunderbuss to oneshot every skeleton. Reload in between every wave and you're in the money.

How many kegs do you have to put on the island?
The final bosses health on a FOTD is more depending on ship size. We found on a sloop its about 30-40 kegs.
Stock piling kegs is smart.
After you complete it, save the megakegs and use them for fighting greymarrow a second time

Im a noob. How many barrels would you say is enough?
Well Graymarrow health scales up the bigger your ship size is. 46 barrels roughly needed on a galleon after we visted the skeleton forts and the fotd island we had more then enough to one shot him. Hope that helps :)

I like the kegs, but to say this is a 10 minute run is very misleading considering all the monkey work required for setup.
I respect this comment. The main goal of the video was to minimize the time the FOTD is in the sky, alerting players to your actions.
Or instead of taking an hour to setup the dumbest shit ever, Just go get 3 disney sticks and do the FOTD in about 11 minutes.

What i dont get about the flames... arent you losing all flames if an enemie player kills you and sinks your ship?
Im incredibly late to reply to this im sorry. But just in case you havent already worked it out. You do lose the flames on your ship, however if you have the flames on the fort and then you sink. You can come back and get the lights from the fort so long as the event isnt finished

Yeah it does take longer to prepare but I thought it may be useful to people that aren't so good at PVP and want to minimize the time the skull is in the sky flashing in front of other players. But I get what you saying

Yea you can! You can do it as many times as you have ritual skulls :)

I couldnt do it once cause of Reapers
On no! Not the reapers. Heres my advice find a server with no reapers, get everything setup like I show in the video. So when you activate the FOTD the skull wont be in the sky very long. You should be able to get away quickly with the loot :)

Yeah the setup is longer but completing the actual FOTD can be done under 10 mins. This really helps people who arent very good with pvp. But I get what your saying

Yeah, the preparation at the beginning is so that you can minimize the time the fotd skull is in the sky, lowering the chance of a PVP encounter. I mean this is only relevant if you are trying to avoid pvp as best as you can or in our case trying to speedrun for an official record. But totally understand where you are coming from though
