Sigur Ros (Victory Rose) exemplifies the contrasts of the whole island country of Iceland. Fire and ice, destruction and beauty, violence and beauty are what you see when you travel there. Listening to recorded versions of their songs are NOTHING like listening to them live. I would describe it as listening to Pavoratti on a 1960's AM transistor radio verses having him sing in person about 4 inches from your ear. Sigur Ros live will tap into your DNA and electrify it the whole freaking concert. You'll be so overwhelmed with audial stimulation that you won't want to breath or sneeze or blink. I've seen them 4 x now and I have to bring a ton of tissues cuz the experience is so deep that I cry tears of joy. Jonsi's voice will tap into a part of your body so visceral, you think of nothing else except the music that is filling your soul. Watch the TH-cam video of their concert at the Disney concert hall in LA. I was there. Best 2 hours of my entire life!

I saw these live about 10 years back. A gig I will never forgot. It's was simply beautiful

The transition at around 8 minutes is one of their most beautiful pieces ever.

Sigur Rós paint full on soundscapes. There's no easy way to describe them other than ethereal. Their pieces are incredibly emotional. My favourite is Ara Batur.

Great review guys - best cup of coffee I ever bought! The word I would use for this song and much of Sigur Ros' material is 'cinematic'. They take you to a different world and paint magical pictures for your brain.

Some years ago, they did an "iTunes Festival" show- back when iTunes was still a thing. I believe this concert is on TH-cam now. You need to watch it. I've watched it more than anything else I've ever watched in my life- any movie, TV show... anything. It is simply life-altering. Seeing them perform songs like this one and many others live.... I can say without any sense of exaggeration- one of the most breathtaking things I've ever watched. I've been fortunate enough to see this band live twice- and I would pay an ungodly amount of money to see them again.

By the way all of those sounds you heard in this song or any other song of theirs can all be created on stage live in real time with many different instruments. Very little sampling or electronic sound involved, their live performances are a total immersive experience, mind blowing.

Great reaction guys, thanks for the video. You guys have to react to their song Untitled 8 live from their movie Heima. That song is mindblowing!

I have been dying for you to review Sigur Ros for ages and you done it over a year ago. No idea how I missed it 🤣🤣. Iv seen them live quite a few times and going to see them again in September, the live show is special. 2 lesser known songs to start with but still great. Be good to see you react to Njosnavelin or Svefn englar...or anything from the first 2 albums really. Also, it was great to see Chris again. I absolutely love your reactions, I look forward to every new one you post.

I've never heard of this band, but I really enjoyed this song. I do like songs in languages I don't understand, as it makes me focus more on the music. One of the commenters mentioned the adjective "cinematic", and I tend to agree with that. Again, glad I checked it out.

I like it. It’s good that the voice is expressive and has its own spark, as without watching a video with translations I’d have no idea what they are singing about.

I always associate this song with the final scene of the season 1 finale of Sense8, so my eyes get a little blurry. Their music is often my work background music - wonderful sounds with vocals that don't distract because I don't know what they mean.

    • @djryguy20

That end scene of season 1 almost makes up for how awful season 2 was.
      Almost.

I love the Icelandic language, fits this ethereal music so perfectly. Certainly mesmerising, their music often has this 'build' element to it where it surges up to a climax. A little bit like Mogwai - another band you should take a look at....!

    • @domiiinik4320
      @domiiinik4320 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Well, not exactly Icelandic, because most of their songs are in Hopelandic, which is fictional language made by Jonsi, frontman of the band (a language that has no grammar, vocabulary or anything, only structure that Jonsi is singing every time)

    • @nordaudio

@@domiiinik4320 This song is mainly in Icelandic. I don’t know where the hopelandic misconception comes from, but () is the only SR album entirely in hopelandic…
