      Mike Holt I subscribe to about 20 channels and I see very very few creators actual respond to people's comments. They always give some bull shit response like,"I don't have time to read and respond to everyone's comments." My response is that your fans/subscribers make you money through views and advertising. How is it that you can use your subscribers for personal income but can't take 30 minutes a day to respond to 15% of the comments made?

    I did a rear brake job on my 2005 CR-V today and gained several really helpful tips from this video, including using the valve stem and only doing the half pumps when bleeding. I don't live in the rust belt and have never really used much grease in the past but my CR-V has been fairly squeaky so I followed your lead on where to apply it this time. So far so good!

    One time I had a flat and found a roofing nail in my tire. Then my wife came home and her car had a roofing nail in the tire. Curious, I took a walk along the curve leading up to my street and picked up about 40 roofing nails scattered all over the street. I figured a roofing guy probably had them spill out of his truck as he went around the corned. Bet I saved a lot of other people from having to deal with flat tires.

    I like that valve stem tip better than the board on the brake pedal - I always have to be mindful of staining, or ripping someone's seat, and killing the battery when I can't find the stupid fuse within my very short allotted time, lol. Anything that'll save me time, I'm all for! 👍

      I've left the old caliper hanging from the strut/spring (still connected to the brake line,) and installed the new caliper. When ready, just zip off the old line, clean it up with new washers and re-install to the new caliper. Brake line is only disconnected for 10 seconds.

    @kenman1717 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    just did a set of cardone calipers yesterday. I'm very disappointed in the lack of quality control. the mounting holes on the bracket were a different thread pitch than the factory bolts. the pin bolts had so much red lock tight on them out of the box I thought the bolts were going to break coming out or at the very least strip. and in the packages of hardware, the banjo bolts that came with them were coarse thread, while the holes were fine. the actually antirattle clips didn't even fit the brackets, even though they were the same shape. I just really wish they would check this stuff over better before they throw it into the box and send it out to the stores. but I know that cost money to pay somebody to do that.

    I've found that adding grease also causes a lot of resistance with the way everything moves because it collects dirt and other particles. And yeah aftermarket calipers suck but who can afford to buy the factory ones. On one of my Hondas one wheel is around 300 deg f after driving because the caliper doesn't work right and I think it's the one I just replaced. Yep aftermarket calipers. Also considering not using the pad slides on the next job because they cause too much resistance.

      make sure your hose isn't pinched at the mounting bracket or crimped ends (if you're in a rusty area) the bracket/ends rust and pinch the rubber hose tight, limiting fluid flow, which means slow release/apply and hanging. stepping on and off the brakes fast, will make them pull hard each time.

    Wonder if that same size (TR418) valve stem would be the right size to fit in a 2000 Accord banjo bolt. Great idea. No more pinching off the hose...

    I still turn rotors on 3/4 ton and larger trucks. Even the most Chinese ones are $100-$150 each and the quality is terrible. I need the lathe just to turn new rotors that shake after 1,000 miles. I agree on cars.

      I just checked on F-250 2WD front rotors for a 2005. Cheapest ones are $68 each plus $13 shipping. But, no one wants to wait 2-3 days for shipping. Napa is a few dollars more, but same day service. I still think it's worth turning the original OEM rotors if possible. They're always better than the aftermarket. On my own truck the rear rotors went 220,000 miles.

      The manufacturers seem to put no extra meat on the discs/rotors nowadays, so there isn't much opportunity to turn them and stay within the manufaturer's thickness tolerances. Just another penny-pinching idea for them, but it costs the consumer more money.

      The other issue is the "lifetime" brake pads that are so hard they wear down the rotors.

    Regarding not turning rotors : Do you have a "preferred" brand ? I have had terrible luck with many rotor warping in very short time. I now only buy the premium rotors, with my preference being Raybestos Advanced Technology Rotors.

      I always get tickled by the random few commenters on here that feel it necessary to mention their morning coffee. "Oh yeah another SMA video with "my morning coffee",,,, ("my") whose else would it be, lol. Geez your simply having a cup of coffee, or is it necessary to personalize it and is it necessary to share that experience. Idk, may it is. LOL
