I noticed the brake dust shield still in great condition ( almost new) and the ball bearings were nuke.
It must be a curb hugger loving driver owner or HONDA quality became famous GM quality.
Most TH-cam videos show the procedure on a perfect car. This is what I run into when I do it. Fighting rusted bolts. Trying to find creative solutions to problems. Thanks for showing what it’s really like.

Even though your running a "legit shop" you are speaking clearly to the back yard mechanics like myself who hate to pay anybody else for something they're fully capable of with the right tools. Haha someone seriously upset about which way you put the cone and said they were gonna unsubscribe-see ya! People on YT seriously starting to have issues. I don't get bent out of shape over that type of stuff..usually trying to get some sort of idea of what I'm getting myself into on a job. I do however watch your videos for entertainment, and that guy stating he was gonna leave was funny to me. You do great work Eric and the content is very valuable to a lot of people out there watching. Thank you!
OK, you asked, so here it is:
The good: Showing the tools you used is a huge plus.
The bad: You're not in my driveway fixing my lousy wheel bearings.
It's great seeing even a season mechanic celebrate with a solid "YES!!" when getting those stuck bolts. As an amateur, those are some of the most satisfying moments! Especially when it's one you've had to come back to 3 or 4 times, get a new tool for, etc.
I will never get tired of the "Nuts and Bolts" videos. Each job presents its own set of problems. Seeing you solve those problems is very helpful. So please more nuts and bolts. Hint Hint Ford 2016 ford escape rear brakes, please..LL

Awesome video Eric as always. Thank you. The only thing I would like to offer up is when you're using BIG NASTY I would highly recommend hearing protection. I can't begin to tell you how many people in my work field that have used rivet guns have suffered permanent hearing loss and many of them wear some type of hearing aid now. They all say the same thing. They regret not using the protection. Anyway, I'm not trying to lecture you as I'm sure you already know this stuff. Thanks again for the videos.

That time o' year again. Slammed with summer tires to swap, and lawn tractors to service. In between all that I helped my buddy's crew finish the siding on the ol' barn. That's all done - now I just need a floor to put my lift on! Brand new lift is going to be a pile of RUST by the time I get it installed. Such is life ... MY life, lol.
Since it's cold and rainy, and I have no heat in the new shop yet, I'm catching up on my missed TH-cam vids. Missed WUW, and several others - they stack up fast! I'd better get at it. I've got another 8 hours of vids to watch ... 🤣
I'll give you the recap on all the recent videos:

A lot of people think us mechanics have it easy and we don't.
Don't know where else to put my comment so I picked this video. Been following your channel for a few years. Just wanted to say thanks for all the great videos. I have always been mechanically inclined, but your clear concise videos have filled in some knowledge gaps and given me many good tips and techniques that I now use to maintain mine and my wife's vehicles and save lots of cash at the same time. Just this past week I replaced rear brakes (pads, rotors, calipers), rear hub assemblies, rear shocks, front tie rod ends and control arms and a new drive belt and tensioner pulley on a 2008 Honda accord with 300k +kms. Riding great again and saved tons on labour costs! Thanks again!

THANK YOU. I'm 58 and have never used a garage for any work in the past but this video has convinced me that it's worth paying the local garage the £400+ (in the UK) they want for the job! You've saved me a world of pain working on the driveway! I also really admire your perseverance with that bolt at the beginning and your careful attention to detail. :-)

GERRRRRREAT JOB! I watched the entire performance and 100% enjoyed it! Love that you do not use any foul language and you have a GREAT attitude even when things were getting frustratingly tough! I watched this as we test drove an older CR-V today and right off the bat I noticed a .....'sound' (Not sure hot to describe it) but I just knew it was a rear wheel bearing. And after watching this I am now 200% sure that's the noise I heard while driving it. AND after watching this, I now know I will NOT be doing this myself. I'm a backyard shade mechanic, but don't have the tools nor the patience to do this. Thanks again man...really appreciated watching this.!

The Astro 498 has saved my butt twice so far. Was a bit hard to source bits, but my Mac guy was able to get me a taper and chisel bit.

I don't know what videos I like watching more, you doing battle with rust or you going full computer geek with your scan tools. Both are quite enjoyable and informative. You would make an excellent instructor once you get sick of fixing sick cars.

you definitely have the best most fun job in the world ..... myself having been through university and from there into a highly technical med/sci career which was full of hubris, backbiting, squabbling, mountainous molehills, and fights over parking spaces, i often wish some mentor had pointed out early on that there is more than one career option and career path in life

I've had good luck on suspension bolts stuck in bushings, like leaf spring hangers, I air hammer the bolt head on the flats, side to side, with flat blunt tip. Deforms head a tad, but your still able to get socket on to turn out. Suprising it rattles the rust free and bolt comes out. Gotta love the northeast haha

YOU ARE AWESOME - YOU ARE AWESOME. I know it's time consuming (moving the camera around) and editing but these shots are excellent quality. Aug 5, 2020: I had the L/R rear bearings and L/R rear struts replaced on a 2008 CRV (seems to be a piece of trash after so many repairs in just 2.5 years 2018-2019-2020 since purchasing) Yes, I understand replacement repairs after year #8, but THIS IS RIDICULOUS!! Since purchasing I have replaced: 1. both cooling fans. 2. Pwr Strg pressure hose 3. Fr. Rt. axle - TWICE!! 9 with 1 yr of each other) 4. Front L/R struts. 5. Muffler (we though was the 'loud road noise' later to find out it was the rear bearings that continued to escalate in noise recently) 6. L/R rear bearings. 7. L/R rear struts. 8. Not to mention the CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT on the driver actuator that was psycho on the auto door locks - popping up and down (saved me $350) since it was free.
This video, a rental slide hammer from AutoZone, and the Astro 72885 kit let me knock out this job this evening! Dealer wanted $600+, I did it for $120. Thanks Eric! You saved me $500! I had it a bit easier because my 06 CRV is 2wd, and I live in Texas!

I loved the brake clean interlude!!!
I just finished putting my rear bearing on my 05 Honda element only to take it for a cruise and the brand new bearing is still humming. So on TH-cam I've been sitting for 49 minutes to figure out what I did wrong I think I didn't put the hub in all the way . Tomorrow I'll rip it all apart again. Loved the tool shout out at the end I've been on Amazon buying some of them for the project to make it easier. You forgot the most important tool of the video....hoist lol wish I had 1 thanks for making this video it's helped me a lot. I'm in Ontario so I feel your rust belt pain.

In other instructional videos everything is always easy and clean. Like one I just saw where the presenter was showing how to replace toilet components and you could easily tell he had already taken it all apart so many times it was practically falling apart. And I try the same repair and everything is stuck and corroded and I couldn't even get the water shutoff valve for the whole house to work without spewing water. And the only way I could get the tank bolts out was to drain it, dry it, and Dremel tool them out. In the video they took out those bolts with their fingers.
Eric shows all the hiccups you can run into. And the tricks to overcome them. And sometimes the tricks aren't pretty. He doesn't hide it when the S.H.T.F. And you learn how to fix things when all goes wrong.
I particularly liked the one about his own Honda Civic strut replacement and the trouble he had getting those bushings to come loose.
I was ready for him to just junk the car for parts. But he persevered.

I'll give ya one thing Eric you sure do get creative in you approach to loosening rusty bolts and nuts!! good job dude. your so right when ya say if I can do it, you can do it. Been there done that, at this moment in time I'm working a seized lug nut on the stud and didn't have any flame to put on it at
the beginning so have had to resort to drilling the nut off the stud!! Dawg gone thats a bugger task don't want to go that coarse again... Thanks for doing the video's i not only enjoy them but i learn a few licks from the Ole'

Even though Eric O. Can do it, I know I can't do it! Lol. Honestly I could see myself trying to do this job on jack stands in my garage and total disaster would have ensued. When I got to the first step, removing those lower bolts, I would have never been able to get those out! I better stick to brake jobs and oil changes and let the rest for SMA. Great video.
