  • In this video we look at the Modulator Node in the Unreal Engine Sound Cue.
Using this node, we can adjust pitch and volume for attached sounds with interesting results.

I know this is an older video but, you mentioned briefly pitch scaling instead of pitch shifting. Is there a way to do that in Unreal? I have a monitor beep that needs to change pitch but I don't want the length of the sound to change.

Unfortunately not in UE4 :/ Pitch changes will shift, not scale, so the lengths will always change. I don't know if this is the case in MetaSounds tbh (if that's even relevant for your project!). The fiddly alternative is to apply the shift and use Delays to maintain spacing... but that's pretty messy :/ Another alternative would be to drive the sounds from a BP, setting the tick interval, and triggering the sounds on a per tick basis.

@@valkyriesound3888 After watching your video I did a deeper study of the Audio engine and found the Modular synth component suited my needs perfectly. I use a variable to determine what note to play and I can control the duration, volume, etc with that component.

Perfect! :) It's not something I've used a lot myself I'll be honest!
