Also at play is how small the market was, being just Aus and NZ with a few other small export markets. So once Holden started selling only GM Global crap no one wanted them and sales declined to an uncompetitive level.

So Al, I have a question for you. I don't know if you'd have a good answer for me or not, but I have a 2000 Mk4 Golf with an AEG 2.0 8 valve engine and a 5 speed manual and I am planning to turbocharge it with a Turbonetics 60-1, Turbosmart Powergate, a Mishimoto front mount, and an HKS SSQV II. I'm not looking for big power, I just want the turbo to fill the performance gap left by the head design when it falls off at 5k rpm. I have the manifold, turbo, wastegate, blow off valve, oil feed and return lines, 1.8t injectors, and I still need to buy an intercooler piping kit. However, my biggest issue is what can I do for tuning? I REALLY hate to say it, but I've been considering boogering it up with a rising rate fuel pressure regulator for the time being because I'm only looking for 5-7 psi, but it's a MAF based system and it should help the ECU to add fuel as positive pressure is applied. I realize that it's an OBD2B car, and a reflash is about my only option outside of a full standalone (and that's not an option, this car was $400 and I had all of the parts sitting on the shelf short of the piping kit). My question is, what would you do if you were in my shoes with a very limited budget? Please don't tell me not to turbo it...because it's going to happen one way or another...lmao
All you should invest your time on learning cad is a must in your work and may help in the future saving time and money, u already have great fab skill just need some tech skills and you'll be truly turbo Yoda the master of stututu (happy turbo sounds)
Dunno if you see this: Ask your mate if he bought that Turbo off a Dump Truck that caught fire for $400 in Rockhmapton - i sold one on eBay years ago for that price off a dump truck, had it on my old BA XT retired cop car from Landsborough, Qld for awhiles until i got sick of replacing 4 speed autos...
Sounds like the guys karma was holding the egine back from it doing a self remodel. Nobody is happy when an engine decides it needs a window or a basement
