I admire Norm that he did not tell the world about his cancer. I admire Norm that he did not tell the world that he could of stayed on, and stood up for Downey. Class act.

This is a criminally underviewed podcast episode. Downey is such a great interview. Check out his Dennis Miller appearances, especially the one with guest host Norm Macdonald.

Chris Farley is dead and you and Norm are fired. That's a tough phone call.

Man I love Jim Downey; he has seen it all. Any friend of Norm's is OK by me. Great episode, boys.

Fun, illuminating, goofy, and Intelligent SNL nostalgia that makes me long for The Change Bank. You will smile warmly and laugh like a fool. Thanks, gents, for doing these shows!

This was so good! I worked at SNL Film Unit in the late 80's, this caused some serious laughter and memories. Jim is one of the most funny humans I have ever met. While working on the Change Bank spots nobody in the room could control our laughter, including Jan Hooks, Kevin Nealon and Jim himself. It was a late, late, night.

Jim is the best guest yet and we didn’t get to hear nearly enough.

This is fantastic. He was there in 1976 with Murray and Belushi and Aykroyd et al, and there with Carvey and Hartman and Spade and Farley all the way up til 2012. What a legend.

Probably one of the most intellectual and reflective people we’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to.

I've read so much about Downey over the years....to hear him tell the stories was a treat. Great show!

Downey's writing, as well as Norm's, had a huge impact on my life. I put both into as many of my college classes as I can when I teach. Excellent, stories, Jim. Your cameo in Dirty Work was stellar too!

The First CityWide Change Bank ad was the best SNL ad in the history of SNL ads. Pure genius.

As a SNL follower from day one I absolutely know who Jim Downey is. I loved his political skits - love his style of comedy and the actors who brought it to life.😊

Hearing the genesis of Spade's "...and you are...? And this is regarding....?" is fantastic. I love Downey's reaction: "Holy shit!" That is exactly my reaction.
