Come on, Jim. You didn’t find that gold on the Bonnet Plume. It isn’t even a gold-bearing river. A quarter-ounces like that would be by far the biggest piece ever found on that river, and would be a lifelong prospector’s dream. Yet somehow you found it after just a couple hours of panning? Give me a break. Your awareness of where gold lies and your poor techniques make your stunt even more obvious. Stick to canoeing and fishing, or get in touch with a legit prospector and learn how to do it the right way, and don’t pull those stunts on your viewers.

@@Ray-Willey It took a quick Google search for me to learn that the Bonnet Plume is not gold-bearing. The geology for the area is totally wrong for gold. There’s even an article from the New York Times explaining that this is why the area is still so undeveloped. Now here comes Jim, proclaiming mantras about preserving wilderness, while at the same time recklessly announcing the find of a nugget that is significantly larger than the finds that have started actual gold rushes. Thankfully, any hobby prospector can see how painfully obvious it is that he planted this piece in his pan. If he had watched just one TH-cam video from a hobby prospector, he could have cleaned up his act and come up with a more believable stunt. There’s a bunch on TH-cam, watch for yourself: Dan Hurd, Pioneer Pauly, VoGus, etc… Notice how different their technique is from his, and notice how excited they get about tiny little flakes. They’d only ever dream of pulling out a piece like his, and they’ve been doing this all their lives!
But for anyone who was previously clueless about how to find gold, well he just made them even more clueless.

    • @Ray-Willey
      @Ray-Willey ปีที่แล้ว +2

@Stephen Chase google will tell you there is no gold where I live also! Lol, guess what....

    • @sc88334
      @sc88334 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@Ray-Willey If that gold is real, Jim needs to take down this video immediately. He will start a gold rush, whether the land is protected or not. That’s a $300 piece of gold in his pan. If it was that easy for him to find, there will be thousands of dollars of gold nearby.

I just want to express my thanks and gratitude for you and your brother Ted for the incredible adventures you have showed. The scenery is breathtaking as is the fishing. The wildlife is beyond anything in my neck of the woods( ma.) There was a time when I went on insane adventures but nothing compared to what you guys do. I just can't do this anymore. Knees are shot and in my late 70's. With that being said, Thank You. Looking forward to more adventures. God bless you both.

    Bonus Episode?? YEEEEEEEEAAAHHH!!!
This has been my favorite series to date (I know, I always say that lol) BUT, the white water, the choices you made, the gold, your humor, and absolutely the scenery. Wow the scenery, absolutely breathtaking! It was all just next-level this time. Particularly the Cabin you explored, thinking of what life was like for whomever lived there, the view out the window, it was surreal. Maybe someday you'll go back with one of your sons and finally get to hike into that lake. I also liked the little spring fed waterfall coming out of the mountain. The braided section was very interesting. Much more difficult than one would imagine. I always enjoy watching and learning from you, Jim, you're a real inspiration. My favorite TH-camr and Adventurer without a doubt, thanks again for taking us along!

@@davidmodeland429 Read through my replies on other peoples’ comments on this post. Jim’s claim is insulting to anyone who’s ever done any legit prospecting before. His technique is all wrong, as is his awareness of where gold settles in rivers. On top of that, the Bonnet Plume is historically famous for not being gold-bearing. The geology is wrong for gold. That’s why the area is so underdeveloped compared to the rest of Yukon. Jim’s claim is reckless because it could open interest in mineral extraction in this area that he claims to want to preserve. So not only is he lying, but his lie could open the door to destruction of the local wilderness. Simply foolhardy.

I can appreciate you really really wanting to "preserve nature" if that's what your goal here is. But by just telling ppl about it you're not going to inspire people to invest their time and energy into making efforts to preserve a place like this, you need to actually show them like Jim does. And read comment, no one is going to go look for gold because Jim found some. I'll bet you a gold nugget!!

You are a good paddler. I paddled the Wind/Peel to taco bar in 2016. That view into the start of the canyon on the peel is beautiful. I was very worried about that canyon all the way down the Wind, I had a novice paddler in my bow, but in the end it was nothing. The Peel can be a real slog after that. Great country. I would love to get back there before I'm done. Aren't we lucky to have this beautiful wilderness still out there. We need to keep it. Save the Peel.
    Maybe consider the NWT rivers?

@@JimBairdAdventurer So many rivers to be paddled. I fear I may have paddled my last true northern river. I may have retired about two years to late. We'll see. I'll need to get back in shape and convince my wife its ok for a 70somthing old fart to paddle rivers up there. I think you are enticed by the white water. I once enjoyed a lot of white water in open tripping boats. But, as I have gotten older, I confess I find it stressful. Now I prefer a bit of white water, yes, but mostly for me it is about getting into very wild places and seen all the country and the wildlife. Doesn't make for great youtube videos. But, it is a wonderful thing to do. Consider the Thelon and the Horton both of which are very wild and beautiful but not such heavy white water. More on the barrenlands end of the spectrum. Maybe the Back?

If I were backpacking this, I would have a backpack and that's it. So just trying to learn more. I'd love to get into canoeing. Didn't realize it could be so dangerous. Sounds fun😁

Thanks a lot did see your comment obviously lol. I had a lot of stuff on this trip as the amount of charging gear and camera gear I bring to document the trip is substantial. This route really didn’t have as many portages as there’s I’ve done so you can bring more stuff it it fits in the canoe. With a larger outfit, you have more survival gear in remote areas which is essentially safer. Paddlers in these areas typically travel pretty heavily but in wilderness areas further east, it’s better to travel lighter as there’s more portaging

@JimBairdAdventurer that makes a lot of sense. Thank you. Here in Texas I don't pack my Kayak heavy, but its Texas. Yes we have some places where you might need to "survive" a few nights, but not many and definitely not like it is up north. I appreciate the insight very much. Been watching your channel here at the VA waiting on docs to get my surgical stuff in order. Definitely inspired to try something new after I recover. Again, Thank you.

Totally lucky as I’m new to this but ya I was right on bead rock which I didn’t really understand how important that was at the time. I should have dug down there but this was one of many times on this adventure I tried panning. So, I found basically nothing after say, 20 hours of panning in this fashion before I found this. I guess even a blind pig stumbles over some corn if he stumbles around for long enough haha.

Have a wonderful God filled holiday season and spend time seeking Him 💕
Yeshua is the son of God who died and rose three days later and loves all of you. He took God's wrath upon Himself, that was the punishment for everyone in sin. He died and rose to give you new life in Him. Born again, a new creation. He died for everyone and wants you with Him, to know Him and live for His glory. Come be saved, receive eternal life and spend time with Him to know Him. Attend a church, read and obey scripture.
Be saved, free, forgiven, healed, delivered, baptized, whole and let Him show you how He is everything you need. He alone satisfies.
Seek God and see your worth how loved you are and know who He is, read scripture. 💕
We are to live righteous and Holy because He said to and He paid for our way to live like Him. Ask anything in His name and the Father will do it amen. Hallelujah Praise the Lord God Almighty 🙏 Thank You Yeshua.
I lift up everyone's prayers, wants and needs to You Jesus, please pour out blessings. May Your favor and mercy be upon the world. In Jesus name come help us all. You know our needs and everything else about each of us. In Jesus name amen thank you Jesus praise God 🙏
Father God Help people to be rooted and grounded in Your love and to obey Your truth. That they are living in the truth being taught by You. That they know Your voice and word. Knowing truth from errors, discernment. 💕
We are to live live righteous, doing the right thing always and living in obedience to scripture, every word of it.
We are ambassadors of Christ. We represent God, when we are seen Yeshua should be seen, His ways not ours. We should be living for and showing God, living for His glory. We are to be an example of Yeshua, for the world to see Him and want to know Him and know Him more. 🙏 🔥
2 Chronicles 7:14 says, if My people humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways I will hear them from heaven and heal their land. 🙏 💖
People need to turn from their wicked ways, Yeshua paid for it. That's God stating it in that verse and there are more verses. People need to repent, to be cleansed by His blood and live Holy because He's Holy and righteous because He's righteous. Our God said to stop sinning in many many scriptures and He paid for everyone to be cleansed of sin (Isaiah 53), and to live how He said. He dwells in the Holy temple (your body) and said not to defile the temple.
He said to defile the temple is death. He's always serious about everything He said to do. He's just as serious about what He said not to do.
We live in obedience to His law, which is all of scripture, every word of it! He dwells within us all to be with and lead us in His ways. 💕🙏🔥 🕊️
Deuteronomy 28 there are blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. The whole chapter, and verse 46 is one example of generational curses. These go into the following generations, the 3 and 4th. Our children pay the price for our sin.
God has said to stop sinning. Scripture says how you are sending consequences to yourself and to your loved ones, children. By God's law you are. If you don't believe me ask Him, in Jesus Yeshua's name may you see and know the truth in its fullness.
Yeshua is worthy of everything He said and paid for, so I implore you to do as God said.
Yeshua said If you love Me you will obey My commands. Love Him with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.💖🙏🕊️🔥 obeying His every word and in that is life more abundantly. Praise God so Awesome!! Hallelujah Yeshua 🙏
God loves all of you and you are worthy to Him, Yeshua died for all because God loves everyone he sent Him. Come know Him, Yeshua call upon Him 💕 the world knows Him as Jesus, He answers 💕
Thank You, Yeshua for Your obedience and love, even unto Your death You obeyed the Father 🙏 Hallelujah Praise the Lord God Almighty 💕 In Yeshua's mighty name 🙏🔥💖🕊️
God is always faithfully Himself and so awesome. Every way He said He would be in scripture He is. Every day ages and ages of Him never changing. Hallelujah Yeshua Praise the Lord God Almighty 🙏🕊️🔥💖

Think of all the gold you have walked over lying in those gravel bars, Jimbo... Here's an idea for your consideration. Get a good quality nugget shooter metal detector and leave something behind next trip to have room for it and take a little longer time between pickups so you can walk some of those gravel bars and shoot for gold nuggets behind some of the larger boulders. You already have the solar charger to keep the battery charged up. Greyling are nice, but gold nuggets are nicer! That land is virgin gold prospecting territory, and is not contaminated with all the metallic garbage of civilization that would waste your time with false alerts. Iron ore would probably be the only false alert you may get, and you can set the detector to discriminate for it.. Put on your sourdough hat and get after it! Gold nuggets are worth more than spot gold because of the jewelry premium. That was a beautiful gold nugget you lucked into. You must have the fever after that nugget.... If you don't disturb the ground and push it back when done, they should not have issues with it. You are not creating silt in the river channel like a dredge would.
Watch some videos on how to nugget shoot with a detector behind boulders in a dry river bed. It is fool-proof with a detector and a hand trowel to dig down with. Just keep digging and run the trowel under the detector every scoop, and pan the trowel load that shows a nugget in it. Channel your inner 1898 sourdough. Boyo! They will all be watching enviously from the great beyond... Hey! Think of all the potential new subscribers! Just take us with you on video...
