This week we got our Shed Delivered!!!! It was such an exciting week to get our glamp site progressing so much faster! What do you think of a shed as a glamp site??

We used one of our amish cabins as our bathroom and shower. Also it's where our service meter and 200amp panel is located. Once it completely finished we will have a counter top and sink for cleaning up dishes and such. Another small area for a sitting spot. Eventually would like to put a minisplit in that heats and cools.

I had to do a Google search on “Amish cabin” not sure if you refer to a log cabin or the company called Amish cabins. The mini split is awesome for a small space. We just got ours installed by a technician, one of the few things I didn’t tackle on myself, but it’s extremely quiet and supposedly is very energy efficient when compared to a windows AC unit.

@@buildfixflip so around us the small skid off sheds and cabins are built by the Amish (mainly). What brand of mini split did you end up with and why? If you ever heard of MR COOL sold at home depot, they are DIY hookup. I also know that Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Daikan etc are good brands. I also would like to put them in my residence!

      @@chad6504 tha makes sense.
I started researching mini splits and Mitsubishi seemed to be the top brand. But funny enough I was browsing through Facebook marketplace looking for something else and I saw an add that this guy provided and installed a mini split for $700!!! So I asked a bunch of questions and ended up having him do the install. It’s a senville. I went with a bigger unit, and one that withstands more extremes temperatures so it was $900 installed. This guys buys them by the 100s from China at a really good price and then sells them to either other installers or does the installs himself. If I was to buy this 12,000 btu senville myself it would have been $850. So in a way he charged me $50 for the install. I am very happy so far but we haven’t experienced extreme weather… yet…

@@buildfixflip that's cheap for sure. I am trying to stay away from the Chinese items as much as possible especially when they do the knockoffs of companies that spent the money on design only to get poached by the CCP and then undercut. Also want parts availability if needed. I hope it lasts a long time for you all though. I find that FB market place and Amazon are getting almost saturated with Chinese products.

HI! This is so cool. I'm curious if the place you live requires you to have foundation under this structure in order for it to be considered "legal" to be a livable space. I ran into this issue with the AirBnB we are building in our backyard. Thanks!

Hi Shannon. Our county doesn’t enforce a building code so we don’t have that restriction. But I don’t think it would make sense to pour a full concrete foundation for a shed or a structure like this one. Depending on your laws I think sometimes you can go small enough abs it won’t require a foundation. Or sometimes if it’s off grid you are not required a foundation either, sometimes no permits either with would be awesome! But it all depends on your local code. Where are you located? Is it pretty strict? Typically if you are in a large metro area you will have a lot of codes. The more rural you go, the less codes you will see.

What store did you buy the shed from?

It was an Old Hickory dealer here in our town. They are all over the place in Tennessee at least. Are you looking to get one?
