    I have built and delivered sheds for 41 years now and I won’t even put a building over 12 inches high any more, it’s just not safe with no foundation underneath. If that is a issue for the customer they can go somewhere else. Every customer is convinced that their property is level. I had one who could not understand why I was not going to get a shovel and dig holes in the ground to put the blocks in the holes. Some even outright lie to you about the delivery situation and when you call them on it they will laugh right in your face. It gets to be a bit much after a while.

    Amazes me that folks can’t figure out that the final set can’t be on a slope! Some thought before as to where exactly they want the building to sit, and hire someone with the equipment to create a level site with minimal blocks. SMH. Great job moving and blocking twice though, guess that’s what you have to do. 👍

    Assuming someone did want it set on a slope, if they told me two blocks high, I would assume they meant at the most. If you took out another layer of blocks, it would still be half a block above the footing blocks at the low end. A level and a little discussion ahead of time would've saved a lot of work.

    Frost heave (depending on where you are located) will put that building on the ground in a short while. Also, the organic matter under the blocks will also compact and settling will occur. Don't know who's responsible for the mistake but your name will be who they repeat over and over even if you did exactly what they wanted. I've seen movers drop a shed in the dirt and drive off because the land owner didn't ready the site!
    A return visit from the mover usually costs as much as the original delivery .. it behooves the land owner to ensure the site is ready to avoid these extra charges.

Premium work on the blocks too, most shed deliverers around here refuse to put anymore than two blocks under around where i live, too much work apparently. The main shed company around here is very corporate(quantity over quality), so they dont put a mom and pop touch to their work like yall do. Not the deliver's fault. Owner's fault. They went way beyond to try to help her. She can hire someone to level it.

    If I was asked how many blocks high, I would make my decision based on the entry way. Who in their right mind would want the entry 4 blocks high. The set up crew should have been wise enough to know this or check with the customer to be sure.

    What's going to hold home down...in a storm.. or high winds... Don't like on blocks .looks week...I would have put concrete columns .. in the ground then put home on top.. and Anker it down.....

    so are they going to use a step ladder to get in the door ?

    • @donmoore7785
      @donmoore7785 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the owner's problem. She should have had it leveled, instead of assuming "it is pretty level."

    I don't understand why the land isn't prepped as part of the whole deal ? I would never mount a shed on those type of blocks , They should have poured footings .

    She needed to have the ground grated and leveled. Now of she puts skirting on it that installer is going to be pissed. 😆

    This is all on the purchaser. Everyone that does these sheds is very clear on prepping the site.
    You pick a spot as level as you can find. Anything sloping is going to be a problem. That's not the shed builders fault.
    Second if aren't going to get a concrete foundation, which can be expensive. Get a load of gravel . It cheap and easy.
    I think this shed company went way beyond what is expected to try and make this work. This is not even a close call , this is the customer's fault.
    I had a shed and a sea container dropped on my property.
    The container in the dead of winter with a foot of snow on the ground , but I cleaned out the drop area and room for the truck to get in and out .
    The driver was telling me horror stories about driving to properties being asked to drop in the bush somewhere through an unplowed road.
    You are basically getting a mini house delivered. Do the prep work you will be fine.
    This company did everything they could . I don't know anyone else that would of put in this effort.

    They should’ve had a cement pad put down then you don’t have to worry about critters going underneath and getting into the shed the people who bought the shed

  • @Ed-ji1vd
    @Ed-ji1vd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It could have been started off on the pads as you call them with no block on the high end and would have eliminated one block the whole way through right ?

    • @donmoore7785
      @donmoore7785 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but that is really too close to the ground for moisture. Water would pool on that single pad and cause the stringer to rot.

    If they had concrete piers already built that high in place when you got there, can your equipment place it on top?

    If she paid for it and wanted it on the ground, I'd put it on the ground as long as she knows the warranty aspect of it. Then when she decides she wants it back up, thats money she has to fork out. But if she's leasing, thn I understand the blocks. Tough dealing wit customers that wants you to do something, but they know more thn u.

      Maybe yes, maybe know. There is something to be said for not doing something you know is irresponsible and will lead to failure. The customer is not always right.

    I was thinking of getting into this business.
    It appears one would need to do a preliminary survey with a laser level to get an estimate on setting it down.
    I'm surprised you set those blocks directly on grass.

    Why Can't You Set it Down on The Pads So It Dosen't Rot, up To One With Wedge ,Then It Would Be Low ???
