An absolute masterpiece from beginning to end. I brought it on my 18th birthday. What a great present to give myself! Love your enthusiasm and singing.
I was simultaneously creeped out by and fascinated with this album as a young kid. Still love it. In fact, I might love it more now. I think I appreciate it musically even more now. I remember my one friend in high school expanded that holy trinity to include Up The Hill Backwards and Teenage Wildlife and said that was favorite string of five songs on any album by anyone.
For me, Scary Monsters is THE ultimate Bowie album. It has in it everything that was before AND that will come after. His voice has never sounded better. Pure perfection from beginning to end ! And I'm not speaking about the gorgeous artwork, his best IMO !
Lucky me, I do have this pressing. I bought it only vg+ to vg, but yes, it is a fantastic sounding copy. I always liked the fact that Bowie is covering Verlaine. Thisvis my favorite Bowie after Hunky Dory. Cheers from Germany Klaus
I often consider this album to be the high point of his career, it's an album that takes the best of the Berlin Trilogy and combines into a masterwork of contemporary art/pop rock with very dark and foreboding under tones...also, unfortunately for me it marks the end of Bowie as a visionary artist for on the next album Bowie became brand which was marketed/packaged and delivered with strategic precision much to the detriment of quality through the 80's, he realised and re-evaluated but too late, he never really regained the magic imo...that my 2 cents for what i's worth...
Hey don't do that to the Number 1, guess you haven't gone Outside Kidding, I do get your point but don't fully agree, although guess we do agree that Scary Monsters is truly the king of kings
Thanks! No I do not work in a record store. But I have been lucky enough to find a lot of nice pressings because I travel a lot for work. Also; in Amsterdam, where I life, you can find a lot of nice pressings. It’s a very good city for record hunting.

Thank you! You’re welcome!
Bought this the day it came out here. 44 years ago. I think most people have probably made up their mind about this album by now.

Spot on regarding the melodies. When you go thru the entire discograpfy this album is sooo melodic after getting thru the Berlin trilogy.
Teenage Wildlife has always been a Bowie Top 5 for me
