    I like it a lot, but I do find some of the orchestral instrumentation a bit much in a slightly corny way that says "ok this where youre supposed to feel emotional". His last few albums were much more ethereal and felt "deeper" to me. That said, it's still an amazing album.

I want more guitars, drums bass , less computer drums synths and weird sounds . This is absolutely no hate, but it feels too much like a nick cave and warren ellis record . Im not even expecting a rock or,, let love in in "kinda vibe . Im exited for the tour .

    Very interesting. I think how well it sells will tell us a lot about who exactly makes up the current vinyl market. I do not want to sound like a snob (although I often do), but I just do not picture most people who are enthusiastic about this album buying a MoFi One-Step. Would they buy any vinyl? Yes, but more to collect and play occasionally on cheap Crosley record players for the novelty. I do not picture them knowing anything about plating or mothers or stampers or DSD (in part because they probably have more going on in their lives than I do, haha). It just won't be worth the price, especially if it's not even on Christmas-colored vinyl. Personally, I cannot stand the big song off it. If I want to hear Spector-influenced Christmas music, I will listen to the Christmas music crazy Spector made. Yes, an audiophile reissue of that would be a dream. As would one of Sinatra's (lots of nostalgia there). I don't know how it is in The Netherlands, but here in the US come December, that All I Want For Christmas song is what every goofy girl at the bar drunk off an eggnog martini insists on singing every word to. Yeah, I picture them staring at me blankly if I was to use the term "deadwax." I guess THAT is the reason they aren't interested in me, haha.

  • @JasonRoxas
    @JasonRoxas วันที่ผ่านมา

    “Audiophile” or “the most recent reissue” will always grab record collectors and flippers attention 😣 Let’s face it: there are some folks out there who are too lazy to hunt for original records. A lot of wishful thinking that “audiophile” records will best original pressings. IMHO, they usually do not (but there are always exceptions). Soon those folks will be sitting on a mountain of MOFI and Acoustic Sounds records that will neither rise in value nor sound good. 🤷🏻‍♂️ About the Mariah Carey XMAS album: according to discogs website, it’s been released on vinyl in 1994, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022. What’s wrong with those earlier pressings? 🤔 Nothing is wrong with them.🤷🏻‍♂️ But they were not touted as the “best/audiophile” pressing. 🫠 To paraphrase Bob Dylan: “Audiophile Hype” by the whirlpool Lookin’ for a new fool Don’t follow “fake record expert” leaders Watch the parkin’ meters ✌🏼

    it will sell like hotcakes. 99% of audiophiles' wives love it, audiophiles will buy it just for that. Also, we know now mofi is all digital. so wouldn't it make sense that they can better compete with digitally produced albums? instead of going ADA, this will be DDA (made-up sparse code meaning = recorded, mastered, format). Modern digital albums have a much wider audience, it's bound to have some audiophile ppl in there. I personally wont buy it, but still

    • @top5records796
      @top5records796 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I like your idea about releasing albums with a digital step in there on One Step. That might work! But… would an audiophile spend 100 dollars more for a record for their wives? An audiophile’s wife is not necessarily interested in audio, nor is an audiophile necessarily interested in the music of his wife. Wouldn’t an audiophile rather spend that 100 dollars into an audiophile record they themselves would admire? Wouldn’t the wife rather enjoy Mariah Carey on spotify and use the 125 dollars for something else? Or desire a present that is more in their line of interest?

    Many thanks for talking the time to leave this honest review. I completely disagree and think it’s a fiat-out masterpiece that only Dylan could make but that’s the beauty of subjective experience. I actually turn to it often as a timeless respite from the fast-paced way we live at times.

  • @noblesavage23

    Beatles original pressings never sound that great to me, other than maybe the UK first pressing of Abbey Road (Solid State - maybe clearer) IMO. I can see why they wanted to record Revolver at Stax. They also recorded their records on a tube console and had them mastered with tubes until Abbey Road. That might account for the difference in sound between original and later pressings? Frankly I rarely play my UK original stereo pressing of the White Album (M-). Instead, I choose the Giles Martin remix.

    • @top5records796
      @top5records796 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That is really interesting! I agree that the original UK stereo’s are not per se the best pressings (although I really love the Sgt. Peppers OG). I think the Hör Zu represses of Please Please Me and Magical Mystery Tour have a stunning audio quality and there are a lot of ‘70s UK represses that are excellent. Thing is with the mono’s; there is less competition and often I think the OG’s are simply the freshest sounding.

    • @noblesavage23
      @noblesavage23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@top5records796 Totally agree, with the 70's pressings. The Hor Zu MMT sounds incredible. I have a UK OG SGT Pepper mono, which sounds pretty good to me but my choice on that album is a UK EMI 1971 stereo pressing.

    This sounds more like a budgetary review rather than an actual A/B review. There was almost 25 minutes of dynamic music crammed into each side of the original pressings and you’re saying that the 45 sounds a LITTLE bit more dynamic?? The length of this LP lends itself to a 2 vinyl release and at 45, I think they nailed it. In the air tonight isn’t my favourite cut on the album, but WHEN the drums drop, there is NO WAY ON EARTH your EU version translates that as well as the AP45 version. I love this album also and have an original UK pressing on his original label - Virgin Records, so I have compared the two. I think the point you’re trying to say here is: if my orig pressing costs $8 and the 45 costs $80, does the 45 sound ten times as good. The answer to that is no.

    Frankie Lee & Judas Priest is not Dylan at his best? You've lost all credibility with that statement as far as I'm concerned.

    Very fair review. It's lack of challenge almost makes it his most challenging album. Love a couple of the ballads, Right Out Of Your Hand, He Wants You. But definitely feels flat overall. A swan song of sorts before another metamorphose was to ensue with Warren's creativity flourishing. I picture Blixa being quite angry that the Bad Seeds were approaching such safe territories, bordering on a ballads lounge band here. I can see why left after the run of albums from the Boatmans Call up until this. It almost slowed to a complete halt here. There was less and less space for typical Bad Seeds interjections. There's a quote of Blixa at his final session with the band screaming "I did not start playing guitar to play guitar in a rock band!"

    Very interesting take on the opening line of "Into My Arms", never thought about that before. Brilliant. Looking forward to see what your top 5 are after this roundup.

      I'll mention I've read an interview with Nick where he was asked about the double entendre of "Into My Arms" being a reference to heroin and he said he absolutely had no concept of that in his mind when he wrote it.

    I checked your channel out because the thumbnail of you holding up one of Dylan's greatest masterpieces intriged me. But youngster, the fact that you don't understand that Dylan's version of All Along the Watchtower is as powerful if not more powerful than the version on Electric Ladyland tells me a lot. What you're holding up in that picture is a landmark in music history, a diamond. There's no way for you to know this but I assure you, the vast majority of rock and folk musicians were stunned by it's greatness. I was around when it was released. Whatever measuring tape you are using to rate albums toss it out. Go for understanding the music you are reviewing, go deeper.

    I agree! I love this album and this recording. Jubilee Street is an EVENT - wow, the first time I heard it, was actually on a flight, with noise cancelling headphones, and when that orchestra and choir came in I nearly yelled out loud in the plane. And on record. Well, you know...
