Thanks for watching. I love Japanese Whispers, and none of that material appeared on any studio album. I couldn't rank The Cure without including the source of "Just One Kiss", "Lament", "The Walk" etc.
I also became a fan because of the Standing On A Beach cassette and WMS was also the first album I actually witnessed being released. I guess we’re about the same age, lol. I still remember buying the The 13th single on a school trip in Liège - Belgium. Not digging the a-side but loving the b-sides. My top five of Cure albums would be 1 Disintegration 2 Faith 3 Wish 4 Pornography 5 Mixed Up (ok, I’m cheating here, but I adore that album) My favorite live album by any band ever is Entreat which in a way I love even more than the studio recordings on Disintegration. I would love to see more of your collection! Regards from a new subscriber from The Netherlands!
I have a soft spot for Mixed Up too, it was the first CD I ever bought. I really enjoy the re-recordings of A Forest, The Walk and the 12 Inch versions of Lullaby and Fascination Street are incredible. Planning a Song of a Lost World update video once my mail arrives (we have a postal strike here in Canada) and will good to live (official and unofficial) soon as well!
@everylastoneeverylastone Have you already ordered the @ The Troxy live album? I only went for the one disk black vinyl this time. And yes, the extended mixes on Mixed Up are incredible. My favorites are Fascination Street, Lullaby and Lovesong which are to me the ultimate versions of those tracks. I also love their Torn Down remixes release. For some reason it didn't get a lot of attention at all but that The Drowning Man (bright birds mix) song alone is utterly beautiful.
@@ellisivy4303 I ordered the 1 LP Troxy but it turns out it's only coming out in mid February, so my 2xLP half speed master and blood red SOALW vinyls are pending shipment until then. Hoping I can get them to ship them separate so I can do my SOALW follow up before then.
I didn't agree with every ranking but generally so. Because Disintegration was #1, I can continue to subscribe 😆👍👍👍 Absolutely no question about it. Not just their best, but THE best.
@@everylastoneeverylastoneHell yes, if the b-sides would have been on the actual album instead of most of the ones that where chosen it would have been so much better. The b-sides of that era where all amazing.
Great list, I strongly recommend including Japanese Whispers. Yes, it's a singles and b-sides compilation, but: 1)None of the material was duplicated on any other release (save for the singles on Standing on a Beach, but so were all singles) 2) It's organized to flow like an album rather than left in chronological order. 3) They left off the quirky Mr Pink Eyes, clearly because it didn't fit the flow. 4) It's awesome. Just One Kiss and Lament are classic deeper cuts!
I just don't understand why Taking off isn't hailed by legions of fans. It's the first track on my best off cure playlist on Spotify and it's one of their best songs they ever did IMO.
I think it's a good track off the self titled (had to cut out what I said about it, video went too long). I think many fans see it as a retread of Just Like Heaven, especially with the similar guitar riff. I even saw this get implied in the recent Trash Theory video: th-cam.com/video/TmjxAd_dCng/w-d-xo.html To me it's better than Alt.End which Robert insisted on playing live for years, and my third favourite off the self titled after Going Nowhere and Before Three. I wouldn't mind if he pulled it out again on an upcoming tour.
@@everylastoneeverylastone Clearly I'm in the minority but I'm just a little surprised. I'm not really a fan either, they have certain songs that I like Pictures of you, Prayers for rain, Lullaby, The forrest, In between days, Just like heaven, Charlotte sometimes, you know the usual suspects.
Prayers for Rain is certainly a deep cut for someone who doesn't consider themselves a fan, love that one. They have many standouts that also didn't appear on proper albums, like Charlotte Sometimes. Might do a follow up on non album tracks.
"413 Dream" and "The Cure" are shit indeed. I would rank "Wish higher" and "Faith" and "Seventeen Seconds" lower but I agree with the rest of the albums.
@@everylastoneeverylastone I'm not gunna call that a cope. ;) Beautiful vinyl. Thanks for showing it. Glad you gave Faith the respect it deserves. Lots of 'fans' seem to overlook that one.
Glad you have included Japanese Whispers. An album standing by itself. Thanks for the review!

been a cure fan since i was 14, i'm now 57, nothing beats Pornography.
I got into them when I was 14 too. I'm sure my younger, angstier self would rank Pornography top!
I see what you did

Kyle Broflovski: [yelling to Robert Smith as he disappears into the distance] "Disintegration" is the best album EVER!
The Top is in the top 5
5 or 6, agreed. Forgot where he put it, but it seemed low.
I love The Top, it is in my top 5 too.
I'd like a Siouxsie / the Creatures vid. Thanks!
Added to the list!
Wild Mood Swings is a top three Cure album for me. Want, Jupiter Crash and Mint Car are excellent Cure songs. It’s definitely underrated.
Certainly a divisive one, I know some people love it. I love the b-sides Adonais, Home and A Pink Dream, wish they made the album.
This post gives me wild mood swings. Top 3?? Whew...

If you could tweak it, would you take anything off? And if so, would you add any b-sides?
