  • Getting back in the groove of working on the 964 and making coherent videos about the progress wasn't as easy as I thought. Having to wait for various parts and having a pretty hard time executing some of the work that needed to be done, consumed so much more time than I could have imagined. Also, having a kid and wanting to spend as much family time with your loved ones doesn't always match up with your other duties. I am very grateful.

    Great videos. I've owned my 964 C4 for 10 years and still love watching videos about them.

    Hi, just discovered your channel en 964 adventures. Nice silver car, btw! Having restored a 964 C2 twice the past 8years, I now what it's like...😒 So, bon courage and keep up the good work and you'll be rewarded! guaranteed!🤟

      @@lxapproduction Yes,I’ve watched all episodes for your 964.I really feel bad that most of these items were not brought up by the seller,but your attitude has been so positive and you’re working through it 👏 Can’t wait for the next update!

    Hello from Boston! I just started binging this series today and it is terrific. I do prefer this voiceover format better so you can explain yourself while also showing us the most important part: the car! Also I’m really glad you changed those gauges. I didn’t want to judge but the white ones looked so tacky and it looks soooo much better going back to the classic style with that excellent Momo wheel tying it all together. I’ll be eagerly awaiting more 👍🏻

      Hey man. Great to see how a Porsche video can reach people this far away :)
      The next video will mostly be voice-over, but at the moment I'm struggling to keep up with all the videos I have to edit, and unfortunately I don't have any news from the engine builder just yet. I guess it will take considerably longer than expected, which mean I will not be able to post Porsche content in the next few weeks :/

    I'd been watching all six episodes and am very impressed by all the work you did. I own a 991.1 C4S but have always dream about the 964 C2 MT. The issues you ran into absolutely terrifies me especially when I'm not mechanically inclined like you. Regardless, I hope to one day own one. I now await your "test day" video of all the work you had done. Good job.

      I really appreciate it man and congrats on the 991 😘 The 964 is an awesome car to own but it comes with its flaws. You can watch every TH-cam video you want, but every classic Porsche owner will talk about his experience, positive and negative, with owning such a thing. You don't necessarily have to be mechanically "talented" or even interested, but I guess you will find yourself spending alot of money to specialists who will then obviously having to work on the car. I'm pretty sure though that if you get to have the right car, your experience will be very different of the one, in a positive way! Good luck man, and hope you stick around. In 2 weeks the engine will come out, and I'll have the chance to document all of it.

      @@lxapproduction Thx. for the encouraging words. Just so you know, though I love the 991 very muchl, the reason I got it is because the 964 has been priced out of my range now. Looking forward to your next video. Cheers.

    Nice update!
    I have in my garage and pending to install the anti-roll bars.
    As far as I know, there is no complete need to remove anything but the droplinks to take out the front one.
    But I assume that what you did makes it easier.

    • @lxapproduction
      @lxapproduction  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re right. The problem is that I wasn’t sure wether I would remove the controlarms or not, but I assume that if I had waited a bit, the swap would have been 100 times easier 😅 but hey, if you would know everything from the start, things would just be too easy right? 🤣✌️

    Hi, very nice car and progress. Can you please tell me what is the size and offset of the wheels ?

    • @lxapproduction
      @lxapproduction  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Thanks man!
      The wheels are 8,5x18 ET46 and 10x18 ET54.
      Tires are 205/40 and a 245/35. Would not recommand this much of a stretch though to be honest. Either use a 215/40 and 255/35 or the legal sizes 225/40 and 265/35. If the car is lowered, those tires will probably not fit under the arches unfortunately...

      @@lxapproduction thank you for your answer. I am building a set of step-up BBS RS for my 964 and i am still searching for the correct sizes/offset. Now I think it’s all clear. I am following your progress and i really think the car will drive and look great in the end !

      @@letz8912 Wow nice!!! I love a nice set of BBS' wheels. Unfortunately we would never be allowed to legally drive those on the road, and I had enough illegal 3-piece wheels for my cars, so I chose the legal route this time ^^

    Why did you change the anti-roll bars?

    • @lxapproduction
      @lxapproduction  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Quite honestly, I had very good results on my other cars that I didn’t want to miss out on it on this car. When I drove the car home, the steering was very vague and the handling was disappointingly bad which lead me to improve the overall handling with the anti-roll bar ✌️ I have to say the result is outstanding, especially with the PU bearings!

    Wait, are you rebuilding the engine for a few oil spots? is this your first aircooled Porsche? you rebuild an engine for a major oil leak or some damage to the engine but those spots may just be a few leaky gaskets and nothing more. Don't waste your time or money rebuilding an engine if your compression and leakdown numbers are great.

    • @lxapproduction
      @lxapproduction  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,
      to answer your second question, yes this is my first aircooled Porsche, but to answer your first one, no, I will not rebuild the engine just because of those leaks obviously :)
      If you go back a few videos and watch Episode 3, you will see that I found a broken engine stud on cylinder 3, which is causing the engine to have blow-by and not generating its full power. I also found some other issues such as missing collector studs and a wrong starter engine. If you are interested in some of the major things that are wrong with the engine, please go watch Episode 3.
      Further more, I have to admit that I'm a perfectionist, and that once I've got the engine out, I want to go all out on it and make it look mint again. So even though some workshops would just have replaced the 4 studs from zylinder number 3, that's not what I am after. But thanks for sharing your opinion :)
      Hope you stick around for further episodes!
      Cheers,
      Alex
