Which are the best Porsche models to buy in 2024? I asked no less than five experts from three independent specialists: Paragon Porsche, Philip Raby and Harbour Cars. This year I split the question down into three categories: best Porsche for up to £50k, best Porsche for up to £100k, and best Porsche above £100k. Find out what our experts suggested in each of the categories… have they missed any models out?

i bought a 996 C4S Cabriolet recently. It's the newest 911 with the broad fat rear reflector bar look like that of the 993, 964 and G Series. For those who want that big fat rear light bar look, 996 C4S is also the only one with frameless doors. I completely covered the huge indicator lights, drilled a hole on the side of the rear tail lamp, and move the indicator bulbs down to emphasise the fat rear light bar look. Just did a 6,000km run-in to thailand's legendary Mae Hong Son loop with 4,088 corners with the car, after an engine rebuild that fixes the bore scoring and replacing the IMS with European Parts design.

With new (base) 911 Porsches pushing $150K (USD) there are plenty of great pre-owned options in the under $50K range.

997.1 Turbo MT for me. Incredible amount of car for the £££. There are only 6 for sale on Autotrader. So seemingly getting rarer and rarer. I also get the feeling the Turbo badge meant a bit more on the 997.1 than on subsequent 911 iterations. The proliferation of the GT cars have perhaps cast a little bit of a shadow on the Turbo named models.

The 718 GTS 4.0 is the best sports car Porsche currently makes - handling, fun, daily, perfect size for UK roads, power you can exploit, gem of a N/A engine you can't get in modern 911's unless its a track GT. If you need to scratch the 911 itch you must,. I've enjoyed five (993, 997's, Turbo S etc), now have a GTS 4.0 Boxster which looks better than 911 Cab & drives better than most 911's.

In the US the Porsche market is very inflated at the moment. A local dealership has a new Cayman GTS 4.0 marked up 20k over MSRP and would not budge on price. So I went and bought a 2007 997 Carrera 4 with cash and plan to drive it until the wheels fall off. Or until it developed bore scoring…

I have a gen 1 997 4s and did the full lee Jenkins experience on all cylinders and it's the best way look for a car that needs a rebuild on a good price lots of hard graft but otherwise you will be in the mid 40s with something that will need work eventually overtime the all need shocks and and some coolant pipes. But a 4s is a cool drive .and there is lots of cars out there claiming the have had a rebuild don't touch a engine with steel liners on the rebuild I have had a failed rebuild good luck from Paisley
