    Had a knee replacement (right knee) six weeks ago. Since stack and tilt doesn’t rely on the right leg, I figured I’d give it a shot. Took it slow through therapy. Started half swings in the basement. Watched every You Tube video that Nick has made. Went to the driving range three days ago and practiced full swings. I’m 69 years old with a ten handicap. Went out today for the first time since my replacement and shot 81. Left four puts short by two inches. I was out driving my partner by thirty to forty yards. Every shot was on target, high loft and powerful. Lower back feels great. Thank you so much, Tom. I appreciate what you did for me. Keep up the good work.

    Hey Nick
    I wanted to thank you and Rob, and give you an update now that I have golfed my first year with Stack and Tilt. I have not had lessons other than lessons from you and Rob from your videos. For the most part I play 9 holes rounds do to time conflicts. I have shot more rounds in the 30's this summer than I have all my0 previous years combined . I have also broke the 80's three times this year when I did get to play 18 holes. Tonight I was playing a good friend that is a very good golfer. I have never come close to beating him but I was actually excited about tonight's round, thinking I had a shot at it. We finished tied at 37, one over par. I never thought I would shoot one over and thought I left a lot on the table but I did tonight. Three years ago I was about to give up the game due to inconsistent play and loss of distance. Now I couldn't be more excited about my game. I also work almost daily on chipping and putting and that has also helped my scoring. I hope to shoot a round under par yet this year. I think i am almost there. My friend could not believe the difference in my came. Thanks again for all your efforts in making the videos. Please let Rob know. Bruce

    Nick over the past few weeks I have been practicing stack and tilt using my gap wedge and pitching wedge, the field I have been practicing in isn’t long enough for anything else. I played nine holes today and wow what a difference, it’s the first time I have consistently compressed the ball with my irons ever. Only problem is now because the ball is going 15 - 20 yards longer with every club I missed a lot of greens because I was too long. Guess I need to recalculate my club distances now. Stack and tilt really works, thanks for all these online videos you’ve changed my game for the better.

    Hello Nick, I can’t get enough of the Stack and Tilt Videos. One thing I’ve noticed is when I do this type of drill the grip of the club slides out of position on each hit. Does this happen to you? Do you need to re-grip each hit? It’s like the grip slides to my palm each hit. Especially when I really try to point the clubhead at the ground out in front of me.

    Hey Nick. I thought your drill at the end of the video is golden. It will encourage and hopefully ingrain forward shaft lean and eliminate the chicken wing by creating a straighter left hand thru and past impact, which is what I am fighting right now. Trying to incorporate S&T into my swing as it seems so logical compared to the conventional fundamentals of golf. Thanks for a super channel.

      I second that. When I was first contemplating adopting S&T I looked at a number of videos and, frankly, found Nick's to be offputting (too technical and too much like work for me). :) However, after getting deeper into the method and trying to implement it on-course I began to analyze things, had more questions, and revisited this video. All I can say is that all the questions I had (e.g. swing plane, hitting fat even though my weight was forward) were answered by Nick clearly and in detail. It all made sense. Understand I still can't hit a golf ball to save my life, but ASK me about how S&T "works", well, I can give you a fairly decent overview. Thanks Nick.

    Man, I do this drill every time I hit the range. I even ramp it up to a full swing and try to stop it about where you are here about chest high, I feel like it teaches you how to extend because there is no way you can stop the club without doing that. What amazes me is just how good the contact is and how accurate it is. I have even gone to using this for flighted down shots because I like the trajectory.

    this is all great stuff! I’ve migrated around testing all different swings over the years due to numerous injuries that make it hard to just use one swing all the time, causing overuse…so, S&T has been one of my most productive swings to get solid contact more often. My biggest issue is I tend to get a lower ball flight than I do with the standard swing styles…I’m swinging an 8 iron about 70 and I’m seeing a peak height of 36 feet! Is that normal? It’s a nice ball flight otherwise; tight draw.

    ...Nick is right...you need a pro to teach you this swing...many years ago I bought the S&T book...to be frank, it was poorly explained in a technical level and therefore confusing..and the included CD’s were a tedious 4 hours...but everything was new in those days, and the writers were doing the best they could...I tried playing with the basic knowledge...and it worked relatively well...got compression for first time, albeit no consistency...then gave it up ( no videos such as this one at the time for clarity )...however, on the range I still try a few S&T shots...and when I do hit it by chance ‘correctly’ ( which I don’t know ) I smoke the ball absolutely straight ...but invariably I revert to my standard swing after the first crapper...but I have to thank Nick in his explanation here as he showed me two completely new points about the swing I never knew...look forward to watching the follow up videos...thanks Nick for getting me recharged ( re-educated ) for this swing...

    Nick, can you talk about how stack and tilt affects carry distance for driver and long irons? That's one of the notable concerns with the stack and tilt swing method. Long irons are hit much too low to stop the ball on the green and the driver launch angle is much too low to maximize carry distance.

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats a myth Clint, check out my course vlogs and this video which shows club data with different clubs: th-cam.com/video/XmViMw4ikkY/w-d-xo.html

    • @franz289
      @franz289 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Clint, There is some truth to your concern on distance and carry with stack and tilt. The mechanics of stack and tilt keeps the body from being out of sync with the swing keeping it stable at impact. However, the traditional swing has a forward inertia transferring to the ball , which is why you will see a golfer with proper inertia walk forward after the follow through because his momentum carries him forward. The entire right side of the body is emptied of the power coil forward. ( Gary Player, Lee Trevino). Stack and Tilt keeps the body stable by hitting on the left side but the momentum remains collected on that side and just defuses the energy from the feet to the shoulders. The Pros can afford to shave a little distance for consistency but the Physics of Golf has not changed from Bobby Jones to Tiger Woods to the future. There will be variations of swing mechanics but maximizing the transfer of inertia to the ball remains the same. And those that have been able to sustain it have the most Majors in their bag.

    Thanks for your video. I’m new to S and T and Confused about one issue. It sounds like the weight should totally stay on the left during the backswing but then there’s an instruction to shift weight forward onto the left side during the downswing. Can you give an estimate of how much body weight never moves off the left side? I realize it’s not an exact science but it could help clear up some confusion. Thanks again

More or less at the same angle as address. How do you try to do this? Do you actually consciously try to hold the angle in the wrist? Tilt forward? So at the top of the backswing you’re pushing off your left foot?

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say sliding and turning my hips to the left in the downswing

  • @stanmans
    @stanmans 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’m confused. Almost all teachers and almost all pro's advocate shallowing the club on the downswing which causes the club head to drop below the plane.
    You are saying the downswing mimics the back swing.
    What is correct?

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most pros advocate a steep backswing which means you have to shallow,. Technically the backswing hand path should be more inside than the downswing as a result of the body turn being more degrees turned compared to the same checkpoint in the downswing

    Hi Nick a friend told me about the stack and tilt method. I have come across your 3 videos explaining them. If I am correct 80% of the weight is on your left foot at setup this appears to make the angle of the shaft lean further to the left, is this correct?

      @@NickTaylorGolf yeah, i did comment the other day but no worries. About half of the ball is above the top of the driver head when teed up, and on the times when i do sky it i feel like ive hit excessively down on it (i played 18 yesterday and focused on what happened when i skied it). I wonder if that is because my left leg didnt straighten enough when coming into impact. Sometimes, the hip slide will automatically cause my left leg to straighten well, but other times it doesnt.

    i think teaching pros overstate the forward position of their hands. True the club does not pass your hands, but they are not way out in front like the position you were showing prior to an actual swing,... they are at most just ahead of the ball or even with it.

    your right arm is straight at impact, ummm chest is not open at impact, keeping the head down,is really bad for the back as well as causing a into out path with a flip action, your standing up before impact...... side view shows your right hip moving towards the ball..........its what i see Nick, nothing personal..........

    Wow, stack and tilt was debunked years ago!! It'll kill yardage on your drives with a negative angle of attack which adds spin.

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Debunked by who?

    • @GRIFF22
      @GRIFF22 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NickTaylorGolf Hear it all the time. Paul McGinley often refers to it on sky sports, saying that it came and went on the PGA tour. It's good for the wedges but kills your long game as you get way too steep with lower lofted clubs. Look at the world top ten, no one using stack and tilt.

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So because one former player on sky sports says it, it means it doesn't work? My angle of attack with a driver is around zero and the average tour player is 1.5º down 🤔

    • @GRIFF22
      @GRIFF22 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NickTaylorGolf Can you name me one top 50 player using stack and tilt? Look at all the best players they have a 60/40 weight split for their long clubs and then are more neutral ....say 50/50 on the short clubs, Rory being the perfect example. It leads to better consistency. If you stack and tilt on your irons, then you need to completely reverse this to optimise driver launch and it can only lead to inconsistencies. I believe Aaron Baddely and Justin Leonard tried stack and tilt and their games completely went off the rails. It's just bad teaching for average players!

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you look at Aaron's stats he played his best while working with the S&T guys and then he dropped off. Stack & Tilt had multiple tour wins while M & A were actively coaching on tour, but they are busy doing other stuff now. S & T only got a bad name from other instructors that felt threatened or didn't know enough about the system. No tour player sways in the backswing, and they all finish with their weight on the left, they also all tilt left in the backswing and right in downswing, they all change their knee flex in the backswing and turn the hips on a tilted angle - all moves in the S&T system
