My 2018 polo imported from Japan didn't come with any SD card. It says navigation database not available. According to volkswagen website it has "Discover Pro for Japan MIB2 GP. Do I need to buy an SD card from volkswagen to get the maps. Or is it possible to update the maps with USB, my glove box compartment has 2 SD card slots but no USB slot
You need an original or VW compatible SD card. The SD card must remain in one of the SD slots for the entire time of operation. Updating with a USB key or a standard SD card is not possible. (I have the original SD 16 GB or compatibile 32 or 64GB available). I have no experience if the Japanese version is different from the European one.
I was thinking all the time it updates automatically when phone is connected to internet. I had no idea to download anything and copy to SD card manually. I am just doing that, my navi version is dated 2017 😂 Passat B8 Thanks again. Great tutorial 👌
I'm sorry, I don't know where the problem is. Try checking the antenna connection. This is also how the poor quality of the GPS signal manifests itself. (Defective antenna, damaged cable, disconnected connector...)

If I buy an sd card with 2021 satnav on it is it simply a case of inserting the sd card into the head unit and it will automatically update to the new version or is there another step?
@@vinlocation8852 well I just purchased a generic sd card, uploaded 2022 version maps to it then updated the car and that's what it's running so what you said can't be true.
The year of manufacture of the vehicle you have is important, for the years 2015 - 2021 only the original SD cards work. Try it 🙂😉, and write the result

Better make a backup before you delete the old card. Do the individual files have to be extracted from the Maps folder before copying them to the SD card ?
I haven't done a backup with the last 2016 maps. I'm trying to upload the bundle 1 unzipped but exceed the 14.8 Gb capacity of the SD original VW card. Should I buy a new SD not VW and try it? Any ideas?

Just download a diffrent map if you're UK their is a few different ones to chose from I took off Turkey and Russia and it took the file size down to 6gb

I don't think you have the same system. But I may be wrong. The system shown in the video has been supplied to the VW Golf since 2015. When you remove the SD card from the infotainment, then does the navigation work? If it works, this guide is not for you. If the navigation stops working after removing the SD card, then try to follow the video instructions. Be sure to back up your SD card to your computer so that you can restore it later.
I am facing the same problem, but I have already updated with discoverCare by myself. So now it says the data is no longer valid. Then I checked with the VW dealer, they told me I don't have mapcare these kinds of stuff in my MK7 2013 103 TSI Highline and need around 500-600 AUD to do extra programming into the infotainment system (the box in your glove box) and another 200 AUD for a new map order with VW VIN number. Do you think it is worth it?

Yes. Just insert. The system uses data on the SD card, does not do any downloading.

Sorry, maps of North America are not online. Please visit your local Volkswagen dealership to purchase north america map update.
Working great so far, but now VW changed the webesite for downloading, any change or info about if this stoped now

if it doesn't have navigation, it doesn't have GPS hardware, it won't work with this update

Napadá ma jedine, že máte uzamknutu kartu. Nie je iný dôvod. Potom už len, že je karta vadná.

Open: ... \ maps \ 00 \ sds \ ... Delete the countries you do not need. Or use a 32 GB SD card.

you must use the Volkswagen Compatible Card, a standard card from the store will not work for navigation
My discovery media is weird. The gps don’t “walk” with the car. Is always stoped where the car start. Can anyone hello me?

No, version 2021 will not work, you must use version 2010-2015
