    *IMPORTANT - I received a media test unit that included PRO code and 200 credits. Pro code and credits are not included with the devices right now on their store. I've also learned that the keyring version does not include PRO. The Pro Pack is sold separately. I apologize for the misleading errors, and have asked OBDeleven to update their website or to offer devices bundled with Pro and with Credits.
    I forgot to show if the ELM327 device worked with OBDeleven app. It did not work. OBDeleven app needs the genuine OBDeleven device. Also I do wish the OBDeleven device would work with other apps, like torque. Forum says that is unlikely to ever happen. I guess they are concerned some other 3rd party app could replicate their long coding solution for free. So I'd like OBDeleven to add a gauge page like Torque has. Something to show boost pressure, 0-60 times, HP numbers in a dashboard, etc would be a great value add on top of what OBDeleven can already do.

    Buying credits for it to do stuff - so basically micro transactions for my car?
    Are you sure Electronic Arts haven't produced this dongle? That would be quite fitting.
    Future feature - you will get a crate box that unlocks a random thing in your car every day.

      You can do all actions for free via longconding. No credits or stuff. The "App" functionality is abstraction of this which takes away all the risks of tinkering with longcoding - just click and go without any risk. That's why I think it's justified for them to charge for it. It's something unique for their device and if you don't want to shell out, you can go completely without it. Also you can get free credits by watching ads

    I have an obdeleven and it's great. Looking at the comments there seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding the credit and app system. You don't need to buy credits to change anything, you can just do it manually by doing your research first. Also, you can get 5 free credits a day, one for just opening the app, and 4 more for watching short ads. Most of the instant app changes only cost like 10 credits so you can easily build up enough free points to use those. I've used at least a half dozen of the instant coding apps and haven't payed for credits once and I never will. And to be honest there aren't even that many instant coding apps anyway, for a lot of changes you'll need to manually do it yourself, which is why I also suggest that you get the pro version from the start since you can only do long coding with that one.

    I’ve owned this device for about a year now. Works for everything I needed and it’s less than the Ross vcds for MY needs. Once you buy the app subsection on the main app, you own it. You do not need to repurchase it for that vehicle. I don’t know how it works for multiple vehicles. I used it to disable hill assist and reduce the brake assist as you come to a stop. The brake assist is that annoying feature where if you maintain the same brake pedal pressure as you slow down, the car decides at the last few mph to apply additional pressure to basically stop short. Other than that, I use it for code reading which I haven’t had to do much of. Hmmm $80 or $200-$300? $80 does all I need.

    Another thing to consider is if you take your vehicle to the dealership for any ECU updates it may wipeout any or all changes. This means you would have to pay twice for the same change(s). Plus, if you want to change something back prior to visiting the dealership for any reason and change back after, you would pay for a single item 3 times. And some changes are 100 credits and I think you can purchase 500 credits for around $50? The cost of this item can climb pretty quick

    • @Nomar070
      @Nomar070 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah they should make it so once bought you can add it back and remove it whenever you want. Otherwise make the hardware more pricey sow that is possible.

    • @TraceyAllen
      @TraceyAllen ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is not how it works. The Ecu specifically controls the engine. If you code the tail lights to do something, an ecu reflash will not affect the lighting. Most dealerships will keep long coding in place if changing something like the central locking module, example like convenience windows or unlocking all doors.

    • @Dstructeur1
      @Dstructeur1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TraceyAllenThat’s not how it works. When they change most of the car modules, they take the long coding that goes with the vin number in their utility, thus denabling those specifics.
      Also one of the first thing you try as a qualified mechanic for common strange electronics issues is to align all modules coding because sometimes unpredictable data corruption can lead to fairly untrackable issues that gets resolved by rewriting. You guessed it, we don’t do that manually, thankfully for time spent, a computer does all that in a few minutes and find those coding values by VIN number.

    Your OBDeleven performance Video was very informative and easy to understand. I happen to have a 2020VW Atlas Cross Sports vehicle and I have had several issues with this vehicle’s functions and had to have dealer reprogram the system to resolve the issues. Anyway, recently I had a DRL go out on one side and after getting it replaced under warranty, another side went out and due to vehicle having over45k miles, it is no longer covered under warranty. The part only comes as assembly and it cost about $1000 +$600 for labor just to replace DLR only.
    I was told by few staff at the dealer to find a mechanic shop that would use your type of programming tool to shut off the DRL only instead of spending $1600 for to just to have DRL showing during the day time operation of this vehicle. So to make the long story short, is your OBD tool able to turn off the DRL function only, on my VW Atlas cross sports. If so, I think this will help lot of VW owners from spending large sum of money to replace the DRL lights. Maybe you can do a tutorial video on this function as well. I would appreciate it a lot.

      I totally understand but I still feel its a shady business model or a cash grab if you will. I mean why not just charge an extra "one time" fee? I have to pay to enable a feature with the app then pay again if I need to disable it? Its a very nice selling feature and makes it different from vagcom but its the pay "per use" that bugs me. Was the creators, game developers in the past? lol

      Why should i have to have some stupid credits if i already payed for the dongle?! I don't want to click trough some stupid ads everyday to get one credit per day or some crap like that.
      If it costs them more money then the price of the dongle, make the dongle more expensive. Dont add this bullshit.
      I would definitely rather spend hours on forums then support this crappy shady practices.

      That analogy doesn't make sense though. Because you would pay the fee ONCE, and then gain access to it forever, not every use. I've compared VCDS vs OBDeleven vs Carista. OBDeleven is easiest to use and cheapest overall, even if you choose to use credits.

    • @SpitFireBuz
      @SpitFireBuz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      so you would rather pay 200-300 dollars (minimum) for a vcds cable and software, which isn't as user friendly and you ll use maybe one a year, just in case you want to do long coding, which you can already do in this with no credits. credits are just if you don't want to do long coding. it s for convenience only. if you know long coding you don t need credits. and you only pay for the device and pro. which is less than 100 dollars vs the 200+ for vcds cable. if you only want it for a few things that you can find long code online and only for checking errors every now and then, it s not worth buying the vcds cable. not to mention the vcds is more restrictive when i comes to what laptop and os you can use. but to each his own.

I would not consider it for anything other than enabling/disabling convenience features. The logging/live data capability of VCDS is where it really shines and there is a clear reason it sets the bar for aftermarket vag diag tools.

    • @netcruzer
      @netcruzer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want a tablet sized Android, Lenovo, Samsung, and Asus all make decent low end 8" models. Or look at a pre-paid Android phone, with a 5" or larger display. Something about the manual long coding in OBDeleven is that it might be more difficult, because most forum posts (at least in the past) provide how to do it in VCDS and the screens don't match with OBDeleven. The credit system may be worth it for some of the more complicated changes.

      I apologize if I have misled you but I've learned that the keyring device does not include a PRO code. You have to buy the Pro Pack to get a pro code, unless you are getting it from a 3rd party bundle somewhere.
