    I was pregnant and could only eat lemons, nothing else.I told my doctor I was so scared that my baby wasnt getting valuable nutrients during pregnancy.He quickly started me on IV drips twice a week to deliver those vital nutrients to my baby. i actually lost 40 lbs while pregnant. Long story short, God Blessed me with a healthy, happy baby girl, so I know this works to a certain safe extent.Good luck ladies🤰🙏

      You have a great OB. I couldn’t eat anything at all, no water either; I had hyperemesis. They would give me IVs for hydration when I would go to the hospital but they never gave me nutrients. I also lost 50 lbs, thankfully I was overweight when I got pregnant.

      Ofc idk how big you were pre pregnancy, but with regards to the health of baby, baby will get the nutrients it needs regardless of what you eat. They will take it from your tissue/bones/reserves if you're not eating/supplementing it. This is why many women experience tooth problems or other physical issues during, or shortly after pregnancy. Make sure to restore your reserves post pregnancy and not get pregnant too quickly again.

      I think that makes a lot of sense - you listened to your body. I have never done intermittent fasting before, and I just started researching keto this past year, but I've been pregnant and nursing for the past year and a half (now I'm pregnant again, and still breastfeeding lol), so I was afraid to try it, especially since I am really nauseated in the mornings with my pregnancies, even sometimes during the second and third trimesters. I have to eat multiple times a day, but the more I'm learning, the more I think I need to up my fat intake and see if that helps.

      Not to be contentious, but that math is tripping me up here. If you are 106 lb and 5'9", I really don't see how you could possibly have very much muscle mass. That sounds quite slender even for a non-muscular woman, but if you have really high muscle mass at that height, you would weigh a lot more since muscle is so dense and compact.

    Fasting during pregnancy & breast feeding is optional in Ramadan, not an obligation, and if the woman concerned has health issues or on regular medication, she doesn't have to fast.

    Hi Dr Berg thanks to you for all the valuable information. By the way am Muslim and I want to tell you that It's a misconception that when someone's pregnant she shouldn't fast. as you know Ramadan fasting is obligatory but in certain cases like being sick or travelling or in pregnancy you are allowed to not fast if you like to , its your choice...so in pregnancy fasting is NOT contraindicated but if the mother is worried and fears for her health and/ or her baby she is allowed to not fast . I was pregnant 6 times each one of it was in Ramadan month at some point and I fasted for the whole month it was perfectly fine and now I have 6 beautiful bright healthy kids Alhamdolilah.

    This is going to be an odd comment, but during my first pregnancy, I didn't know I was pregnant, for about 18 weeks (yes), so I was fasting EVERY DAY (averaging 20-48 hour fasts), exercising 2-3 times per day, and wine was involved. I had a very healthy baby. He was 2.5 weeks early, which docs considered within normal. I did eat a lot of carbs (but they were almost exclusively fruits, which is the only thing I wanted especially in 3rd trimester because I felt full and low energy all the time), with cookies, at a ton of meat and seafood.
    Now i'm on my second pregnancy, and i'm wondering if I should just continue fasting (i've been fasting for almost a decade, with very very few breaks).. Now i'm not always Keto (i hop in and out every 2-3 weeks with a few days break), but i'm essentially almost as active... (down a few weeks due to ACL reconstruction)... I just really don't know what the answer is.

      Eat. And, drinking water and eating fresh fruit and raw veggies, will keep you hydrated on the inside. The water from the fruit & veggies helps with that. This helps produce milk. If you eat so much that you give the baby diarrhea, just cut back a little.

    The pregnancies I did nutrient dense foods and was completely sugar and process food free while avoiding synthetic nutrients was the best. I emphasized well sourced raw egg yolks, salmon roe, organs, healthy animal fats, etc,... GAPS Baby book by Becky Plotner has been invaluable. The Root Cause Protocol Handbook is invaluable because it helps me avoid all the mistakes I made in previous pregnancies.

      Try extended fasts after period starts and stop long fasts (longer than 15h) around ovulation and until next period. Shaking up routine week to week is also a healthy eating pattern in itself. It's natural to want carbs & stuff so listen to your body, as long as your body's signals aren't confused for bad gut bacteria signals.

      Many pregnant women get way too high insulin. This is very dangerous for the pregnant woman and her growing fetus. With enough nutrients, healthy keto and intermittent fasting are very healthy for the baby and the pregnant woman.

  • @ella17734
    @ella17734 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Wow. Fasting of any kind during pregnancy is absolutely NOT recommend! Unless you have other health issues and it's something that your healthcare provider suggests and only with the help of a nutritionist. Even suggesting IF during pregnancy, that is poor judgement.

    Since Dr. Berg has NEVER been pregnant and I have, I'll answer... EAT! You can have all of these lofty ideas if you want to, but I'm here to tell you, you are not the only one hungry when you are pregnant. Trust me - a total, stranger on social media. If you think starving that baby will help you, you'll be sorry. You'll create deficiencies that may make your child mentally/physically handicapped and that will be harder than fully eating for nine months. Now... Don't you *dare* go off and eat a *whole* box of Twinkies, either! 😂 But honestly, if you eat all of the healthy foods, in the suggested servings, you'll find out that it's a *lot* of food. But, please... Eat! Please! Oh! And, walk. 😊

      Babies are the first victims of their mother's gluttony. The consumption of excess food prevents the body from eliminating toxins and produces an impure environment for the baby.

    People whose bodies are not fully adapted to keto must not do certain things.
