Your close up shots reveal how meticulous you are, David. I appreciate that very much. That precious heirloom chest is now perfectly rehabilitated for the new baby. The hardware turned out great! The color choice turned out great and went well with the hardware--a golden hue to both. The veneer has a lovely grain, and you matched the veneer repair so well. I enjoyed this restoration so much.

Lovely dresser, so glad they picked you to repair it. Some might not have caught the dirty little worms or taken such care. Now it can be passed down for many generations to come. Hello to sweet Daisy, that little wiggling body just makes me smile. Thank you for sharing her with us.❤❤❤

You have worked your magic AGAIN! This plain, shabby piece has been transformed into a well made, lovely chest of drawers which will, for many, many years give pleasure to the owners. I hope your part in its rescue will be told. Hopefully this posting can be preserved and be passed on down the years as part of its history. You have saved so many family treasures from landfill and they go on giving pleasure, a testament to your determination to achieve perfection with no bodging.
As always it was such a treat to see Daisy, so happy, healthy, confident and so well loved, she ALWAYS makes me smile or laugh, what a treasure she is.

A really wonderful and professional restoration! You are one of the few, who „feeds“ the wood with oil or wax. Not only the outside, but everywhere. When I watch restorations I often have the feeling, that the wood needed some „food“, that it is too dry. And if the restorer just leaves it that way, it feels very unpleasant. This never happens with your work! Thank you for showing! Great!

Beautiful! I remember this furniture from my parents bedroom before it was replaced in the 50 s. Funnily enough by a bedroom suite a piece of which style Jay restored . Very pale oak with petit point and filigree hardware.. Thank you Mrs David for keeping your lovely husband safe with the air cleaner.

The mahogany is just perfect! It shows the beautiful graining. I love how you always stain the dovetails. And the polishing of the handles was genius. Something to be cherished for a few more generations. I smiled at Daisy and her sack of toys. My dog has a basket and when he is in the mood to play with them, they are strung all over the living room. They always have to have a squeak. Have a great weekend!

Hello David. I have waited and hoped you would have a chance to save and restore this particular type of chest of drawers. I have always admired 40s/50s furniture. The repair that you had to do was virtually invisible, you'd have to look pretty hard to see it. The finish was amazing, bringing out that beautiful grain. Job well done once again. Oh and i love the new calmimg music thats played through the video. ❤ Daisy and Blackbird too.

I was born in 1945 and when I was a little girl we had a chest of drawers very much like this one. It was so different from our other furniture that I asked my Mam about it and she said it was utility furniture made in the war. As someone aleady mentioned, that date on the back shouid be read in reverse so it was very likely to have been made in 1942. Very sturdy and durable, if not as pretty as some other pieces made before and after, but well worth restoration. It looks lovely now. 👍😊

The piece was in surprisingly good condition for its age, but likely because it stayed in one family and was used for its intended purpose (instead of ending up in a shed or workshop). Hi! I am not an expert in furniture, so I can't positively identify this confidently. What I can do is tell you about furniture that looks very similar to the furniture my parents owned. My mother was born in 1935 and inherited bits and pieces from my maternal grandmother. Although my mother has now passed away, as far as I can recollect, I think the pieces she had - a dressing table, a tall boy, a chest of drawers and a sideboard - were all bought in the 1940s, possibly whilst the war was still ongoing. The pieces she had were very similar in style and construction. I remember her telling me that it was utility furniture - produced from 1939 onwards to make the most out of the materials available during the war and to provide furniture for those bombed out, and who had lost all their belongings. Obviously, this construction style continued well into the 1950s until everyone had settled down and the economy improved. Your estimate of the 1940s fits well into this time span.
Edit: sorry I wrote this before you explained about finding the maker's mark and that you believed it was utility furniture.

Well done! Like how that mahogany stain on the oak came out.

Great choices on the whole project. No one is going to see that great veneer repair other than your subscribers.

It's a rustic mid century modern piece. Philips screws were introduced in the 1930s. However, they became much more common after 1966 when the original patent expired. My guess is this piece dates to the late 1960s or early 1970s.

As always you have made a worn down piece look new and ready for the next 50 years! Not sure what you've been doing but this video was so well filmed and edited. Filled with great info and of course the sweet Daisy! Very enjoyable!

So great to be able to see the grain. I can hear the dresser heaving a sigh of relief.
    The drawer furniture looks fab.
