  • Superman II. The universally preferred sequel of the OG Superman films (compared to III or IV). Still full of sins, as it turns out.
Thursday: Superhero sins from a much more modern film.
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

The three bad guys didn’t technically want to kill the humans, for crying out loud! It’s almost laughable, in fact, that they went after the villains with bats , pretty much! Haha. Not to mention, if they had, in fact, killed Superman, do these dummies really think they stand a chance?! I’m on the side of the humans but, come on. They might as well have gone after those 3 with pencils or feathers. That would be about as effective:) but can we all agree that that sequence of the 3 of them blowing those people was pretty great! This is the best Superman movie. And he wins in the end;) yay

Although not released in theaters, The Richard Donner Cut deserves a fair shake and would receive fewer "sins" because it removes a lot of the odd superpowers, silly comedic moments, and has Brando to fill in missing gaps and makes an explanation of Superman's regained powers. Love that DVD. Donner comes out to talk about what you're going to see, calls you "friends" because if you bought the DVD it means you care the same way he does about this amazing and beloved superhero! 🥰

Agreed. Although in an extended TV version (or possibly just a deleted scene) it shows the 3 Kryptonians later alive and being escorted from the Fortress of Solitude by police, which is kind of funny but makes sense. But since that didn't make the main theatrical cut, is it actually canon? Most viewers know nothing of this and assume they were killed after no longer being a threat. Sure, nobody would feel sorry for them but that's still not Supes' style, let alone Lois.

The green car driving on the wrong side of the road, is due to an extended deleted scene in Superman The Movie... when Lex Luthor flips the car over remotely, to set the scene for the fake car accident with Eve Teschmacher... in the extended deleted scene.... Otis was remote controlling the car, and Lex Luthor says to him... "Otis are you from England? Otis replies no Mr Luthor" Lex responds why are you driving on the left side of the road" right before snatching it off Otis. It was stock footage from the first film used again for that scene in Superman II.

@@tiberiushazo6326 In the way Singer literally said it is a sequel only to Donner's movies. As in 1 and the Donner Cut of 2.
Granted, it is technically not a sequel to either since it takes place in the mid 2000s yet claims Superman II's events only happened 5 years prior. Not to mention Lois Lane looking way younger than she ever did in previous films.

  • @dudedysseus

I just watched this, and you guys were WAY too kind to this movie. There's a bunch more sins:
    1. Why does the entire council say "guilty" if the first guy was able to speak for the council? You don’t need to get every juror’s personal opinion when the spokesman says they find the defendant guilty.
    2. The French people speak English to each other and French to Lois Lane
    3. How the crap does Clark WALK his suit on?
    4. You can’t have an explosion in space. No oxygen.
    5. Zod shouldn’t be able to talk on the moon. No air, no sound.
    6. Chick obviously deliberately walks into Clark in the chief editor’s office, since she turns around with plenty of room to see him.
    7. How do you build a hologram emitter in prison?
    8. Where did Luthor and the girl come up with the coats when they were flying around in the hot hair balloon? And how did they get to the Fortress of Solitude in a hot air balloon in two days?
    9. Zod totally used the Force to take that guy’s gun.
    10. WEIRDLY specific instructions about explosions or whatever freeing Zod from prison. And why did they build the prison with that weakness in the first place?
    11. Superman is clearly not flying Lois at supersonic speeds, so how do they get to the Fortress of Solitude in whatever amount of time the do?
    12. How do the villains instinctively know exactly what powers they have the first time they use them?
    13. Where did Lois’s hot nightgown come from?
    14. What are the random silver hand-lasers?
    15. How did Superman know he could rig the de-Supermanizer to work outside the box when he just found out about the thing?
    16. HOW THE CRAP CAN SUPERMAN INDUCE AMNESIA.
    17. Why does Superman take his meal to go if the whole point was that the dude was sitting in his favorite seat?
    18. Superman straight-up tries to murder Lex by leaving him at the Fortress of Solitude.
    19. Why does no one search for Lex after he's broken out of prison? How does no one recognize him and arrest him again?
    20. Clothes and capes should not be flapping in space like there's wind.
Probably more, but I didn't write them down as I watched the movie, only as your video reminded me of them.
    Negative sins:
    - 1. There’s the sound of Clark putting coins down on the hot dog stand.
    - 2. Since the branch is buoyant, it’ll keep Lois afloat instead of going underwater.

      1. Good point, but the fact that the guy says something like "The council has no hesitation in declaring you guilty" or whatever indicates that the vote already IS unanimous. And if he's just speaking for himself and still needs everyone's vote, then he shouldn't say "the council" like he's speaking for all of them.
      4. Oh, snap. Didn't know that.
      7. Yeah, but Tony was actually given resources and tools. What did Lex have to work with?
9/14. Oh. Well, it was still random. We never see it before other than for flying, and no one would guess that's what was actually causing it.
      15. Ehhhhh . . . you seem to be a greater authority on Superman than I am, so I guess I have to take your word for this, but . . . he's never struck me as a genius.
      16. Yeah, but seriously . . . how.
      17. Okay.

      4. Yes, you can have nuclear explosions in space. They actually outlawed it due to concerns about effects on the atmosphere and, you know, radiation.

Why the low cut outfits ...even on the guys?
Why do they have British accents if they came from a far off galaxy in deep space?
How could they talk in outer space...no oxygen....no atmosphere...
      An explosion in outer space?
Even so, it would have taken at least 70 years or so for the crystal phantom zone prison to shatter!

They were filming exterior Daily Planet scenes at the New York Daily News building when the 1977 blackout hit, and there was Christopher Reeve in his Superman suit. All the onlookers were good-naturedly telling him to fly off and fix the power grid. He took it in very good humor.

With Superman's reflexes, there's no way he could accidentally stumble and fall into the fireplace. Intentionally stumble to keep up the Clark Kent act, sure. Fall into the fireplace, perhaps a desire to be found out.
Also, for talking on the moon, Superman (and so other Kryptonians) has super-ventriloquism. No, seriously.

    • @SomeGuyNamedJason
      @SomeGuyNamedJason 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Super ventriloquism allows him to throw his voice to where he wants, sure, but it still requires an atmosphere for the sound to travel through, which does not exist on the moon.

      @doubledamn2599 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Jim Walker Its been stated before that Superman's powers make him immune to all earthly pathogens, because his powers overpower the disease before it can affect his system. No powers means that he doesn't have that defence anymore. You could argue that the since they were in the Arctic that the extreme weather conditions killed off all pathogens, and that the Fortress of Solitude 'cleanses' any humans that enter, but that wouldn't matter once he got back to America.

The Richard Donner cut is far better as it doesn't have the stupid 'comedy', Lois tricks Clark into revealing he's Superman by shooting at him with blanks, it has Zod mowing people down with a machine gun and it shows Zod & co getting arrested at the end so you know Supes hasn't straight up murdered them.

23: The difference is that when Superman was flying around the world, he didn't have a specific destination to get to. If he flew top speed towards the Eiffel Tower flying that low he might not be able to stop in time, might not notice it, or he might crash into it or some other building along the way. He has to be more careful with how he flies in order to get to a specific destination, which includes speed control.
27: That doesn't mean he didn't gently lower it down to the ground so that Lois could get off before zooming off into space.
34: They probably didn't know the moon was uninhabited. Considering their home planet of Krypton is so similar in appearance to the moon, they probably assumed that's where everybody lived.
45: Jeremy forgets Marlon Brando telling Kal-El that he can't serve humanity twenty-eight hours a day.
56: Because just because NASA lost contact with them doesn't mean that they know that they're dead.
    59: Because wood floats. DUUUUUHHHHH!!!
80: He's not there to get food, he's there to pick exotic flowers. If anyone should call this scene a sin, it's Poison Ivy.
    88: And his name.....is Batman.
100: Where else is he gonna go? An igloo?
    Removed 101: (answers Zod's question) "I'm BATMAN!!!"
107: What do you mean? He's surrounded by fresh water. Didn't you see the scene where he eats some snow?
119: Because he's Superman, not Goku.
133: Zod wants two things: A challenge and to prolong the suffering of the son of Jor-El. Of COURSE he's not gonna finish him off lickety-split!
144: Probably because he's been doing this longer than Zod and his gang have. He's had a lifetime of exposure to the sun while they haven't even had a week, he's had more experience with his powers, his father's probably taught him ways to counter them, etc. In the words of WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, "There's no substitute for experience."
