This song was their last hit in the U.S. -- and it was seen as a "goodbye" to their audience. It was 1981, they were in their later years as a group, and it appeared on their final album (at that time), The Visitors. Right around this time, ABBA announced they were taking a break. As it turned out. they wouldn't make another album for 40 years. But ABBA *always* had its hardcore fans, and their music never got old. "Thanks for all your generous love and thanks for all the fun. Neither you nor I'm to blame when all is said and done."
Frida's vocal is amazing. No doubt about it. This song is a masterpiece one but very, very sad at the same time. The video itself contributes to a very lonely atmosphere. It's something to make your eyes get full of tears easily. Frida is simply gorgeous. Greetings from Rio de Janeiro!
I agree with u 💯%, Brooklyn boy ... Frida❤ is extraordinary!... but with Agnetha is something 'out of this world'👌 (and vice versa). Great outro, bro!😂 See ya. Love ❤ from Chile 🇨🇱👍
ABBA is one of my favorit groups of all times 🙌 and Im in LOVE whith FRIDA 😅...your reactions are a very beautiful tributes to ABBA and FRIDA in particular 💚💚👏👏
I’ve known this song for 40 years and yet never really listened to the lyrics. Now as I approach the end of my life and losing people I’ve loved I only hear the lyrics now. Birds of passage, reflections of treks, Thanks for all the generous love and fun, Neither you nor I'm to blame when all is said and done, There’s no hurry anymore. Perfectly sums up life.
Thanks for yet another great reaction! My favourite Frida song is “I Let the Music Speak”. I think it’s her best performance so please make this your next one. 🤞🏻
Frida and Benny's divorce song 😢 Their version of The Winner Takes It All. Frida is about 36 here I think! Yet she wore that dress like nobody's business. And nice job catching Agnetha's sneer there. I wouldn't have wanted to bump in to her that day!
Dude, what a video to wake up to, you've started my long weekend with a bang! 🤩Yes, this song is a masterpiece and the real testament to it is when you replayed again from the beginning to appreciate it all the more. I saw Frida's green dress in the ABBA museum here in London a few years ago (she wasn't still in it!) If you want another emotional Frida lead where her lone voice truly soars, check out "I Wonder" - the live version is even better than the studio version! (Oh, and I like to appreciate "the art" in the way you describe too! 😂)
This song is underrated. This is Benny & Frida’s breakup/divorce song and even though it’s more hopeful than “The Winner Takes It All”, Frida’s delivery still gives me chills.
Yes, many of their songs are, especially in the US where they only had one #1 and 4 top tens- the Winner Takes it All reached #8. This one, When all is Said and Done was their last top 40 US. (Reaching #27). It's sad that this would be their last recording (till Voyage). I missed Abba so much. It was heart-breaking to see them go. It's also interesting to note that WAISAD was never released in England, neither was The Visitors. One of Us became a #3 in Great Britain, then Head over Heals was released, getting to #25. Although One Of Us eventually got some air play in the US, they were never able to get it in the Hot 100. A shame really, that with all their talent and brilliant music, they never really caught on here in the US (like other countries). It had to be disappointing to Bjorn and Benny. Really love❤ the Enthusiasm and the entertainment you bring to these videos Bklyn.
This song breaks my heart every time. To realize that all the good and the beautiful that was ever between you is simply gone, like it was never there, like it never meant anything. No anger, no grief, no relief, just nothing………. I came very, very close to this situation once, and thankfully it didn’t end like this but I never completely recovered from it, so this song hits home a little too hard
I first heard this song when I was 17. I had no idea of love and heartbreak yet but as a melancholic I so could relate to this song just by imagination. I was in tears back then and I'm still in tears today at 58 when I hear this masterpeace ❤
If you want the good news - the way you were feeling in your outro to Voulez Vous - I've been feeling it with ABBA's music for nearly 50 years now - and I'm still feeling it. You have a lot of ABBA feelgood ahead of you young man. How about I do I do I do I do I do next.
This song is really really up on my list. I love how the choir sound in the ending, seems like ABBA is soaring towards the heavens.. so breezy, calm and dignified.
Brilliant. Always look forward to your Abba reviews, They're great. You should do When I Kissed The Teacher or My Love My Life although they are both Agnetha led songs
Hello again, nice to see you with more ABBA songs And special thanks for your great reaction, for your kind words and emotions, that's what ABBA made in all our fans "When all is said and done" (1981) It is a very good song (8pts) that is part of the album "The Visitors" and was released as a single in U.S., not in UK the brunette Frida has the leading voice and sings it with a lot of energy and power, to which the blonde Agnetha joins in some verses and chorus The official video shows all four ABBA members in separate waves it's the time of the divorce of Frida & Benny (as many said, is a song inspired in both) and remember that Agnetha & Benny separated two years ago (curiosity, looks Agnetha more sad in her eyes and facial expresions) ABBA is a specialist in breakup songs, and in combining sad lyrics with catchy melodies. and this is one of the last, before their breakup as a group for almost 40 years If you want to see another side of ABBA, equally emotional, I suggest you listen to "Slipping through my fingers" in the same album Here is a live link: th-cam.com/video/avPTdJh2j6s/w-d-xo.html I wish you a good weekend best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina South America
Enjoyed your reaction to this ABBA classic ! .... this song and the album The Visitors was a bittersweet experience for me because when I first heard this hit single, last to chart in the US, on the radio, I was happy to hear a new ABBA tune, yet the lyrics spoke to me this was their final go round, a farewell song to the fans and themselves.
"The Visitors" was released, making it into the Hot 100 (#63 I recall) Too bad --it's a banger! I really didn't read the writing on the wall regarding the break-up, because (as you probably know) they never officially announced it. But once Frida came out with "Somethings Going On", that made it clearly obvious to me. Then, as you know. Agnetha's solo album would follow close behind.
thanks for taking it back! love the outro, too. you really are the best ABBA reactor out there. Save "The Last Video" for the last video you do of ABBA;)
Her post divorce screw you Benny cut and purple dye job 😂. He always liked it longer I guess and the first thing she did after he left her was cut it off.
Haha, love how Voulez Vous cheered you up after the heartbreakingly sad When All Is Said And Done. That was a very sad time for Frida, and though she was beautiful, I think you can tell that she didn't have the usual spark in her eyes. But her voice and the pain in her voice - wow! On the very same album (The Visitors), she did some crazy lead vocals: I Let the Music Speak, Like An Angel Passing Through My Room, and the f***** awesome title track, The Visitors. Neither of these songs have videos, but they are all masterpieces, and Frida delivers amazingly diverse vocals. And shortly after that, ABBA broke up, and Frida did the 80s smash hit: I Know There's Something Going On, which has an official video, which is hot: th-cam.com/video/p98PjtSfNWo/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for bringing a smile after a couple of challenging work weeks. I am glad you liked this one. Very popular in the 80s and indeed a masterpiece. Loved your bonus groove, and I'm sure you had a great start to your work day!
Most of today i've watched all your reactions and had myself a marathon and this being the final video as of now, really find you entertaining and i aswell love love loveeeee Frida! she's magical and the entire band is perfection, i'd suggest once you're done with ABBA, do react to Frida's and Agnetha's(Anna) Solo careers!! they've got real good material like you wouldn't believe, Frida wanted to create a new sound and get away from "The Abba Sound" on her solo stuff, it really proved her ability!
You should be happy about this song, Brooklyn, since it's about Frida's divorce from Benny 😅. Nah, but in all seriousness, this song is another example of how absolutely special ABBA is: world-class harmonising vocals and wall-of-music instrumentals aside, they've never been afraid to sing from their own life experience. It's why every single song of theirs tells a story that you can emotionally connect with.
The interesting thing of this video is that if you watch the Spanish version - Frida shows off her short hair so the video was a kinda of hybid of her with her long hair and the new footage with her short hair to sing the spanish vocals.
Great song great reaction. This was probably one of ABBAs last songs. To bad but just to much tension and bad feelings. Benny had cheated on Frida and gotten another woman pregnant. Frida was devastated. By the way she found that gorgeous dress in a thrift shop and altered and decorated it herself. Try one man one woman. Another great Frida song. Take care

"When all is said and done" (1981)
It is a very good song (8pts)
that is part of the album "The Visitors"
and was released as a single in U.S., not in UK
the brunette Frida has the leading voice
and sings it with a lot of energy and power,
to which the blonde Agnetha joins in some verses and chorus
The official video shows all four ABBA members in separate waves
it's the time of the divorce of Frida & Benny
(as many said, is a song inspired in both)
and remember that Agnetha & Benny separated two years ago
(curiosity, looks Agnetha more sad in her eyes and facial expresions)
