Interesting how results vary so drastically. Ive used this almost primarily in all my shooting, and I love it. I can order a box of 200 jhp for 89.00 to my door and I think they're fantastic. Luckily I don't need to try them on people but I think they'd do just fine. Great video
Like everyone is saying here in Houston Texas when the pandemic was going on this is pretty much all you can find on the shelves however I thought it was very weird that they did not provide any ballistic information and unfortunately nobody in the TH-cam community was making any ballistic videos on this load had I known what I know now I would have NEVER bought so many boxes literally bought about 20 boxes
They are a lot different bullets on the market. You just hope it does it’s job. If needed and hopefully you never need it. Thanks for the video and information.
When the ammo shortage was going on, all I could find was this.. so I bought 4 boxes. Came home and tested em in water jugs and found out they were absolute garbage.. I had to have them for my carry gun though.. after shooting about 10 rounds , I never could get a bullet to expand.. But I got to digging and found a box of 115 grain xtps in my reloading equipment.. So I pulled all the bullets and resized and loaded them with the xtps.. gotta do what ya gotta do. We couldn't get ammo period around here for awhile . Much less components..
as a reloader of over 43 years and much knowledge and experance no bullet that's accurate is a failure.sure many hollow points fail expansion tests. we seem to forget about the FBI carry loads for many years was hard cast semi was cutter they used with great success. this wouldn't stop me from carrying the serria bullets. besides hp bullets can have totally different effects on me at, vitals, bone, fluid thangel, sand, water, wet paper testing. and I would be content shooting that load far more than nothing or better than mouse guns., just my findings.papa wishing you well
Great job. I normally really like Sierra products but IF this stuff is geared for some sort of defense, its a miserable failure. You and several others have shown this with a myriad of tests. Zero expansion.
$10 rebate out there on a 2 box purchase I just found after buying a couple on sale.........maybe just use them in the rotation mixed with some XTP rounds looking here 🤔🙁
@@StewartCountyBallistics third ones the charm. Also, that bucket of frozen sand was too close, it needs to be 300 meters out to really see what those bullets can do 😉. It was fun to watch, don’t change a thing!
@@oddballschtuff 300 meters? LOL! Do you mean 30? These are little more than FMJ bullets that sierra pushed out. If sierra said "oh these are jacketed semi wadcutters", they would be awesome in that regard. SCB could try all day and not get different results. These are just not defensive bullets. At 30 meters? EVen with carbines they arent expanding. Just a flat smack.
SCB is just another person giving us his time to show a not so great product. His tests have been shown conclusive via several other folks who have done testing. SCB's results arent a "one off". He found legit results... the results just werent good sadly. I dont know what Sierra was thinking on these bullets. I emailed them.... zero reply.
@@StewartCountyBallistics Sir, thank-you for making your video, but I am not sure what we are learning from shooting into hard/frozen wet sand. Other Presenters have shown the Sierra Outdoors bullets (9mm and .35) not to expand well when shot into calibrated ballistic gel after going through 4 layers of denim. I THINK the Sierra Outdoors is a Gen2 JHP that we had in the 1990's and a very different bullet than the more modern Sig V-crown. TNOUTDOORS9 did an excellent evaluation of the 124 V-crown @1138 fps in 2014. In bare gel it penetrated only 7" with 0.894" expansion. Through 4 layers of denim, it penetrated 14.75" and expanded to 0.655", which is common to other modern JHP's such as HST and Gold Dot.
That’s crap ammo the worst I’ve ever seen and those aren’t cheap! They cost less than gold dot or other popular ones but more expensive than silver tip or xtp and silver tip and xtp expand better! For what you pay for outdoor master they give you steel casing crap vs brass casings!

From the reviews I've seen. This would make great cheap target ammo.
You can get 50 rds for same price
Great test & review! I did like & subscribed!

Everything is picking back up
PSA is currently dumping them at $6.99/box. Might make a smart investment future bartering....
That’s what I was thinking
Great vid!! I don't know how I missed this test thanks for posting
Thank you for watching Cory!
I like the target and the green rings. Thanks SCB!
Lol thanks for watching God bless my friend

Thanks for watching brother! Our test are not as good as some others but this is what I like to do when I test mine!
Stay safe and 2A strong

I got mine for 18 for 20 rounds wish I would have seen this before getting 4 box’s but I’m test a couple for zero and then opening
That's strange I literally just exploded a milk jug with one of these bad boys
I bought some haven’t tried it yet. I heard they recently changed the bullet shape tho
@@gfrog8888 I just got 200 more from PSA, they are running a 4th of July deal right now 👍
That sand was frozen 🥶
Lol like a rock lol
Garbages , I won’t be carry that for sure, matter fact they need to take it off the shelf
If you’d put that chrony further out, you will see faster velocities.
Lol I will shoot it . This my third one lol

I was not really impressed with that bullet . I greatly appreciate you watching God bless

Warm that sand brother lol
I hope you are doing good.. it was cold out there lol God bless you brother
I shot a few hogs with this and they just ran away.
Are these not pretty much sig v crown? Bullets look like V crown and the brass even says sig.
Yes they are

We have not had any problems out of the Sierra yet! But we manufacture our own so I honestly don’t buy it anymore.
Kinda hoping this is a joke. Facebook would luv this to rip apart
Well crap.
