Glad to see you saving old trucks from the scrap yard. I have to drive new trucks at work and I just hate them with a passion so I love seeing old ones being saved.
Thank you so much for saving that J10! Back in the day I had a 1979 J10 with the 360 V8 and the turbo 400 transmission. I wished I would have never sold that truck!
I for sure will be watching.... smart move to only get it for two bills... it would bring more at the scrap yard if it failed. I bought that same kind of rig new in seventy four.. the J30 with three forty five international engine, and a four speed. It was a quad track to start with but with all the parts I had, a 205 transfer case an hubs. I had it for years an kept it really nice... I got a offer of three grand in two thousand five ... I liked the rig too much... I also had a bad habit of leaving my keys in everything. A few days later my fifteen year old grandson stole it an went joy riding... it wound up in a creek bottom thirty some feet down.. he got hurt so I waited an he came to apologize but a new plan had came about.... him and his friends who were with him went to that creek where it was ... I supplied the comalongs and he at first didn't want to.... After I blacked his eyes to a dark shade of blue, an I told him it was cause I can't kick his little buddies butt.. so your going to take one for each with you that day... he was working at getting it out like his wrist was broken so guess what, every thing runs better with another tune up... and he worked past dark every night till it was out and home... I never fixed it as it kinda broke my heart. He asked me one day if I was still mad.... He woke up in about ten minutes with some smelling salt. I broke his front tooth out that time.... I might mention... that boy was a hell of a lot bigger than me by a good fifty pounds... and he boxed in school. He missed a week of school that week but i picked up his school work. I was raising him after his mom died an she knew I would do good by her. his father was a unknown an so his mom had put me as his legal parent when he was born.... he went to the cops and told them I was abusing him... he had been in jail several times... I got him all the way through school, an at twenty five with a family of his own... I got crippled very bad an to this day have never walked again... I gave him free and clear a full shop with every tool you can ask for... I just couldn't sell them as that hurt as bad as getting hurt... so he wound up with a full conex full of my heavy equipment tools, an every shop tool including lifts for a big rig as well.. a eighty by two hundred shop, storage buildings and a lot more including my kw wrecker. I was worth a fair coin at the time. I can say that he has not visited me for the last two years...I got hurt in two thousand five so he has kinda forgot what made him a good man
Not for hired……glad to see you brought it back to life,,,,, when you make the flatbed for it make the sides drop off not pick up and remove drop down like a tailgate……..that’s way you would always have them with you….. and you can also take them out of your way that’s just my opinion keep up the great work and take care yourself stay healthy stay happy junk Mando
I have a 75 J10 absolutely love that truck would not trade it for anything and those trucks have a very unique frame under them they step out and get wider in the back
Dad had one we rebuilt the straight 6 the 727 and the rear axle. His was optional 4wd he had what they called feather tap thet if one wheel started to spin you tapped the brakes it switched to the other wheel. That was a beast id love to find another one!
Quadratrac and full time 4-wheel drive are good in the mountains in winter when you are constantly switching between dry road and icy road. You can have a pretty good vehicle there with mainly an investment of time to straighten things out. Take care.
Man that was good deal you got for $200 dollars man. And all it was was a simple little fix. It sounds really good man. All you need to do is fix the brake issue and it would be a good running truck. Man it cleaned up very nicely too. I really enjoy watching this. Thank you for sharing this video.
*Nice* find Mike! 😀 You got it for a steal! Interior looks night and day different my friend. So glad to see it moving too. Hope things are going well for you. Take care and happy wrenching 🔧🔩
Never even seen one of these in CT. Nice find. Thankfully we don't have safety inspections and emissions for stuff this old. The best northeast state to own old junk.
I saw this video and said dam it . I new shouldn't have taken my flat bed with steel racks down south it is 6X8 . ( can't see junking it so south it went) If you can find it you can put the old grill style in it the one with the round headlights . I am moving out of CT to SC .You love what just pick up in SC a 1995 Chevy AWD Astro conversion paid $750 not running ( bad pickup coil) no rot sitting for 2 years.
Diamond plate the floors and bed, sheet metal you can get from anything from an old freezer to the thick stuff you get from furnace oil tanks [for the rockers] lol Have Mig welder? Use the rusty bits to measure up what you need to replace the rusty bits. Paint it all Rustoleum Brown or whatever colour you choose. Doesn't have to be some showroom beauty. Weld her good and sturdy for the winter months... maybe drop a junkyard LS in it with a 4L80E trans for the rear wheels... whatever... you can have fun with it. 200 bucks? Hell the gauge cluster is worth more than that lol
Dont know much about the J10 Gladiator I had a 1981 J20 with a 405 V8 an old 3/4 ton conservation truck solid even for haveing had a tree fall across a portion of the bed n fenders pulled them straight with a hi lift jack and a leather hammer and drove it everywhere never engaged the four wheel drive had lockers but only thought I used the fwd but the pin was out of its station to work great truck dad had and older 69 70 wagoneer with the dohc inline six
I would put some metal supports from floor to bed then put a sheet of 18 gauge metal on the floor with bolts to adhere it. It’s good yard truck. Don’t get rid of the bed because of the wiring for the tail lights!!!
A friend had 1 that he hauled billets for years with He broke the frame in half welded it back 2gether and continued hauling Urs is in much better shape than his 👍👍🙏🙏
Please keep the s-10! I have an 89 4.3 that is bone stock - no rust since it has lived it's life in the South. It is blue just like yours and I hope you will restore it one day.
Don't know how far you want to go with the J10. But I manufacture all brand new panels for the J10/20 Jeeps in fiberglass, fenders, doors, hood, cab shell etc. If you want info message me back, we are in AZ. Enjoying your vids
Cool project. What are your plans for the bed? Maybe a little flatbed? That could be handy for your GF (sorry I don’t know her name). Thanks for sharing your adventures. Peace
Dude that thing is built outta rust! And pedal wear does mean something. It's literally a tell for wether or not the odometer is telling the truth or not
This one just doesnt appear to be worth the time and labor to restore it may be ok for a beater in the woods or flatbed for use on the farm but id seriously be looking for something else if your wanting a restoration project
Always good to see Rusty, unfortunately I had to let mine go and I miss her. On the good side the guy that bought her is fixing her up nice.

Excited to see that s-10 again one day or maybe another s-10 project truck. That’s what brought me here. 👍
J-Slow. Nice rig. Those trucks are beasts.

wow never thought jeep made those types of pick ups pretty cool but I really like that green semi truck in the background
That's going to be a great project. I enjoyed the video and you made a real difference to that interior. Great work. 👍
Good job cleaning that up and good eye for seeing its potential.

Man, that's a great score. Hope you enjoy the truck.
Made my day seeing this.
I'm excited for this truck!! I miss the s10
Got a bit of weight reduction here and there bro but looks a good purchase anyway. All made for a good video. Safe travels
Love those trucks

You did a great job on that interior! Some new seat foam and the inside is ready to go. It's going to be a nice working truck.
Nice old truck, nice job on the interior.
That's a nice find. 👍👍👍👍
Love it. Always wanted one. Had a 86 Comanche (baby brother)
Funny we both have similar cabovers and I have a 79 j10 I’m working on.
Yeah I like it 🙂 really like the front grill design

Those 6 cylinders are tough motors

When it comes to investing, nothing pays off more than educating yourself with the right information from the right source. That's how you get rich.
You're right, that's why I invested into assets like cryptocurrency and some stocks
Stocks are good to invest on, but crypto is more profitable
I wanted to trade crypto but got discouraged by the fluctuations in price
I heard that his strategies are really good
@@annabelkatherine6441 Will I know about Mr Dave Jevans he's a good broker, and more his trading strategies are top notch
You should turn it back into a plow truck. I like those old 6 cyl jeeps
I imagine that brand new in the show room 🤩
Name suggestion: JJ

I have the 1972 version of this truck…a J4000. It has a 360 V8.
A friend had 1 that he hauled billets for years with He broke the frame in half welded it back 2gether and continued hauling Urs is in much better shape than his 👍👍🙏🙏
Great project, I'd beef up the suspension, cut the bed off, build a small recovery boom and add a plough for winter....if it was mine 😀
That's a nice truck I bet 16k is right on unless it stopped working. flat bed would be nice on that truck. Nice easy fix.
Ahh the good ol AMC J10 the little bit slow little brother of the Jeep Comanche LOL... Same exact truck just a different badge
Please keep the s-10!

Quadra trac switch 😍😍😍
Lol you thought it was rotted, amazing what a fully charged battery will do
keep it for a yard runabout or what ever u want, keep the clips coming
That’s funny you live in Connecticut I also live in Connecticut I live near Westport Connecticut
Good luck finding parts that weren't borrowed from Ford,GM and Chrysler when they built those things. Just Empty Every Pocket.
Awesome
Great Job! What kind of sealant did you use to seal the gasket hole?
Grey rtv gasket maker
Permatex
@@NOT_FOR_HIRE THX a lot!
If there is no vacuum to the trans that would be another issue why it is slipping TH400's are bulletproof trans if you keep them maintained
Whats behind the seat?
All those holes you see in there on that thing r just just speed holes
tried to edit last comment. it was supposed to say,( you been there.) since you had a CJ7
What is the rear end gearing in old red?
AMC stuff is cool, but parts can be a real nightmare to find for them and the people that have parts want a fortune for them
The classic AMC jeep is better then the Chrysler jeep
Long time no video. Hope you ok?!
Where are you?
Why did you stop posting?
👍
I don’t know if I’ve seen a long bed J10, or any J10 in CT that’s not rotted to death 💀
Call it two bills
Cool project. What are your plans for the bed? Maybe a little flatbed? That could be handy for your GF (sorry I don’t know her name). Thanks for sharing your adventures. Peace
cool truck, i'd put a flatbed on it
Will your coe ever be to kenly 95
spring over axle lift
Dude that thing is built outta rust! And pedal wear does mean something. It's literally a tell for wether or not the odometer is telling the truth or not

These old things are not rare here in old fields in California
