    Man, I love that cranking, I don’t know why, but it sounds great!

    I do like the body style on those old Jeep trucks as well. They kept making the J10 up through 1988 when Chrysler acquired AMC, and axed the model because it was in direct competition with Dodge's own pickup trucks. The Grand Wagoner soldiered on until 1991, when the 11mpg fuel economy doomed it in the face of yet another rise in oil prices.

      Oh interesting. I didn’t know it stuck around that long. I know the Comanche also existed in that timeframe. I’ve actually replaced an engine in a ‘91 Wagoneer. I actually thought they had lasted even further into the 90s than that. This was a few years ago, when their values were really going through the roof. It was a nice rig. The owner was a dingus though. Haha.

      No,the J series Jeep trucks were discontinued in 87,the Grand Wagoneers were built until 91.

      A friend sent me a J10 that was priced at like $5000 today… the rust was almost just as bad. Apparently they do that. Haha.

    Yeah those old v-8s need more than a few teaspoons of gas to start especially after sitting.

    The age old question for Dodge guys... are AMCs really Mopars?

    • @66balsam
      @66balsam 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Close enough, AMC is goofy enough to hang with Mope’s

      They’re honorary Mopars! Haha. Of course they didn’t belong to Chrysler until the late 80s so I am inclined to say no, but everyone likes a good underdog, and since they are apparently welcome at various Mopar car shows I think we can let them ride.

      No,they were the last independent car maker. We AMCers get disrespected left and right. We appreciate the Mopar guys mostly accepting us however.

      My previous band WHITEWOODFUNK recorded and digitally released an album on Bandcamp. It’s pretty good! The album is called Ballads For Eva. You can also find various clips of us on TH-cam. I have not quite finished or released my years long solo album - although I have used snippets of it on the channel.

      Haaahaha. I didn’t even buy it so we’re doing OK there. Sometimes my friend Josh brings me treasures to get running. It sucks it’s so rusty, but he has actually since washed it and it looks remarkably OK. Even ordered brake parts and got the clutch unstuck.

    I've always wanted one of those Jeep pickups, hard to find one around my area that's not severely rusted. My dad had a 68 wagoneer when I was a boy, always loved that thing. Great video! Thanks for sharing!
