What a cute calve! They are so smart too, they know how to walk within minutes and know they have to drink their mother's milk right away to get strength and be healthy. Hope the calve will run fast enough and have enough strength to run away from lions and other predators.

They are not smart they are dumb as rocks. Knowing how to walk and drink milk are not signs of intelligence they are instinctual traits all young animals develop. Watch a video of one being attacked and all they do is call out in distress without doing anything to protect themselves.
What is wrong with the mother? She can't expect her baby to walk to her right away, it's still too young and weak. She needs to nurture him as much as she can first like licking him and being close to him etc...
