I love the new album, and until I wathed this video and listened to the heart that you put into it, Tunnel 13 was not among my favorite cuts. But you uhave outdone Mr. Knopfler with his own song! Cudos to you Glenn! So well played, and thank you for the chords!
Thank you mhugo! I so very much appreciate your kind words! I'm so glad you feel I did this song justice! I, too, love MK's new album. Thank you for watching; I hope you are doing well! - Glenn
Lovely Glenn... thanks for posting thd chords too..I played along! Its a great song from the really good new Mark Knopfler album You sing and play very well.
Thank you MLS! I'm so pleased that you like how this turned out. Thanks for watching and for taking time to comment. I hope all is well for you. - Glenn
Well done. That was awesome. I'm still working with minstrel of the DAWN. It's easy to play on Flute, but when it gets to the part where he starts going faster, it's a little bit harder to get the air through my instrument. I'm working on it. It's not so easy to do, but I'm learning. as I said, well done. It sounds like your voice might be a bass or a baritone. Or maybe somewhere in between. It amazes me how you can get down into those low notes. I can sing a little with Gordon, but sometimes I have to go up the active. If I know the notes are too low from my voice, such as John Denver. Sometimes when singing with Gordon, I have to do that as well. Especially in the song, Don Quijote. I meant, active.
Hi Amanda, thanks for your thoughts and comments. I played and sang this song in the exact key where Mark Knopfler played and sang it, so it is quite low. My wife's first reaction was that I should raise the song up about 4 half tones where it would fit my voice better, but as I played around with this I decided to do it where MK did it because I thought that's where most guitar players would want to hear it. There are a lot of guitar players who sing in a very low register. I am a baritone and this was very low for me. It hits low G and even low E notes, so it's most definitely in bass territory. I am more of a high baritone, more in Gordon Lightfoot's or James Taylor's vocal range. Enjoy your flute and your music. Music definitely makes life more interesting. I hope all is well for you. - Glenn
@@glennwillow5124 that's pretty good. Thanks. I'll definitely enjoy doing my flute and music as well. Music definitely makes life interesting. I'm also playing around with some music by film composer John Williams. Especially things from Star Wars. Things are going well. by the way, I was reading a book by bass guitarist Víctor L Wooten. It's called the music lesson, a spiritual search for growth through music. In the last measure, titled the dream, a question was posed. In all your musical years, when have you ever truthfully said thank you to your bass guitar? I had to stop listening for a moment, and I had to think to myself, when have I ever thanked my instruments for the jobs they do. And all my years as a musician, I've never done that. It was after reading this book, that I started doing that. Especially with the Flute. it is always important to thank your instruments for the job they do. They may be inanimate objects, but it is so important to thank them no matter what.
@@glennwillow5124 definitely. Instruments make our lives interesting and a lot more richer as well. It is interesting how the 12 string and six string guitar both have similar sounds, but their tones are slightly different. I wonder if the number of strings has something to do with it? what about the wood that the instrument is fashion from?
@@fluteplayer8636 HI Amanda, I think what makes a 12-string sound so unique are the octave strings on the four lowest pair of strings. The woods do make a difference, but the octave strings make a huge difference. Be well. - Glenn
Beautiful song Glenn, thanks for the lyrics and chords
Thank you for watching Pierre! And you are welcome for the chords and lyrics, I hope it's helpful! Be well! - Glenn
