I am 70 years of age, now this is what I call real music, so beautiful and tuneful. Loved Mark all my musical life, I will do till I pass away. Thanks Mark. x
The funny thing is I'm 57 and think i don't have much life left. You're 70 and there's a decent chance you can do 30 more years. That's the fun part of living.
I'm a 53 old man. I cry when I hear your music, and I connect with my childhood and the beauty and innocence back then. I love your music, Private Investigations, The Man's Too Strong, Telegraph Road, Brothers In Arms, everything really. Keep bringing light to this world, Mark, and thank you for the dreams x
Probably my favorite You Tube video of all time. Mark Knopfler and his music are classic and timeless. This song just makes me smile along with all of his fellow musicians.
Mark, David and I attended Scotstoun School, Glasgow in the late 50s. Still have our class and choir photos. Who knew then what brilliant musicians they would become. From Dire Straits to the present, the best of music. Ian Grant, Canada.
Awesome memmories I'm sure. I'll bet thinking back on them you could see something.....reserved or quiet about these guys. Artists have another level of creativity going on internally not obvious to onlookers. Some might look and totally get it wrong and say Autistic or similar because of the lack of attention put into interaction with others. Only an artist can comprehend what I am saying here.
I’m 22 - I grew up on rock & pop. The last year and a half I’ve religiously only listened to 60s-80s rock (and still do). If any sees this, or if you happen to see this Mark, please know that all of you from the prior generations still, and always will, shape the world. Thank you all for being the shoulders of giants young men like myself have to stand on.
Thank you for your kind words, but it also means - for me at least (74) - that I blasted Sultans of Swing or Money for nothing via headset at full volume into my ears until I passed out. My hearing aid today lets me pay for that every day. 😉 ...and I still put some real power into my amplifier and multiple big speakers when I have the chance and am alone - meaning: my wife is not home, she would freak out. I even open the windows, so that the glass is not popping out and everybody in the street I live in can join in. No complains from neighbors so far. Then I close my eyes and re-live these times all over again. I remember when I was in an Audi A6 flying down the Autobahn - pedal to the metal around at 235 km/h - listening to Mark and Money for Nothing. I can still feel the adrenaline rush. ...among other crazy things I did. Today I am amazed that I am still around and survived all this. 😜
Hallo, I was born in 1961 and when Dire Straits startet I was 16 years old. On my way to work I hearded Sultans of Swing in the Bus to my work and so it was happened!!! Since this day I hear every single day only Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler. I hear no other Music, nobody believes this. I have no other CD`s or other music at home. This man is a living miracle....... the only one and best, MARK KNOPFLER. My favorite songs are: What it is, Are we in trouble now and One deep River.
Some guys have a burst of creativity when they are young and then it passes. But Knopfler seems to have had a long career of creativity that never ends. These songs today are as good as anything he has done.
Голос Марка и сама мелодика остаются уникальными и мгновенно как пазл встают в память вызывая цепочки воспоминаний. Рад Вас видеть и слышать Марк, долгих Вам лет!
Can anyone seriously name a better band of talented individuals than this lot. Everyone is on top of their game.Together they are second to no one. GUARANTEED
No ego .... no body trying to hog the floor and show up the guy next to him .... just friends enjoying each other ... I feel like we could all learn something from this video on how we should treat each other. Here's a little trivia ... while I'm at it. A bunch of paleontologists were digging up a dinosaur, while they were listening to Mark knopfler, so they decided to name the dinosaur after him. The dude has a dinosaur named after him. Now THAT is a rockstar. 🦖
Спасибо за прекрасную мелодичную песню! А улыбки музыкантов говорят о многом! Мне 61. Слушаю Марка Нофлера с 1985 года. Нравится до сих пор. Его ни с кем не спутаешь!!
Mr. Knopfler, Yes, very thought provoking music. Been a fan since the 1980's as a teenager myself. Thank you very much for your beautiful contributions to my life.
What I'm struck by, as both a listener and a working musician, is (1)just how much incredible music people (ESPECIALLY young people!) are continuing to make today, and (2)how we never hear about ANY of it, because the commercial pop machine has basically displaced everything else. Back in the early Mesolithic when Keith Richards and Mick Jagger were young, they met by fighting over those incredibly rare American blues records in the basement of local music stores, because there might be only two or three copies of that Son House record in all of England. Since then, most people who are living adults today have lived through years of absolute wonder, when you could go into a record store or turn on the radio and hear incredible music. The late 1990s were a time when Mark's incredible skills made him a well-known and popular musician who made a good living, sold plenty of albums, and lived a very comfortable life. The early 1980s, on the other hand, were a time when Mark's incredible skills made him the frontman of what was for a time the single biggest popular rock band in the world. Mark hasn't gotten any worse, obviously (if anything, he's a better singer now!). He's just as good as ever. But the world of music has changed. That brief period where what's "good" and what's popular" didn't last that long, in the history of music. It began with the Beatles, or mayyyyybe with Chuck Berry, and it ended maybe, with the breakup of Dire Straits. Since then, we've steadily climbed back down to where we started. There is STILL great music being made, beyond and beneath the cesspool. It just takes a lot more work to find. We're back to the life Mick & Keith lived, scrounging through the basement bins of local music stores (or the Internet equivalent, Bandcamp!) for those artists who will never land with al the rest of the crap on the Billboard Top 40. We're still there. Don't give up looking.
At 76 yrs old the music is what has survived. It’s the main link to our past that we still have. “ It’s rough when your world dies before you”. Thanks for keeping our world alive.🙏❤️
I was lucky enough to see Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton play together at Madison Square Garden. What an amazing concert over 30 years ago and it’s still one of my favorites.❤
This is a masterpiece. Where to begin, the lyrics, composition, timing, voicing…everything is perfect. And my favorite part is watching the satisfaction on everyone’s faces at the end, knowing they hit it out of the park.
I grew up listening to Dire Straits, Jethro Tull, Rush, etc. Great to see Mark Knopfler still making great music and going strong. Still surprised that this video has not reached more than a million likes and views till now.
I love this song and truly appreciate the real instruments. I have been a fan of Mark Knopfler and the Dire Straits for more than 35 years, "All Comers" is my favorite piece of the latest studio sessions, and why it was not included on the major ONE DEEP RIVER album is completely beyond me.
One of the most amazing music videos I am aware of. So many first maximum upper class musicians performing a great great song by one of the greatest musicians of all time with so much original joy and pleasure and easyness. I am watching it every day, it is so special. ❤❤❤❤

I have never understood how a man who writes such beautiful music can write lyrics that are the equal. It is astonishing.
And he strikes me as a modest man!!

I really like David Knopfler as well. I think he should lead Dire Straits, as he has the perfect voice for it. Maybe not the desire though!
