    10 pulsing sumo squats
    10 donkey kicks (each leg)
    10 fire hydrants (each leg)

    Static stretching (holding stretch for more than 30 seconds) actually causes the muscle spindles you are stretching to elongate and relax. Which means they will generate less force. Active stretching (briefly holding for 3 seconds) is best before workouts because it promotes blood flow and activates the muscles! A good tip if you are trying to workout your booty but seem to always somehow work mostly your hamstrings, try foam rolling them (maintain constant pressure) for 30 seconds or static stretch them for 30 seconds. This will basically tell those muscles to chill so your booty can take over!

    Squat Question! Just saw this guy on TH-cam saying when you do squats you need to go deeper than parallel in order to get glute activation do you agree? I normally go down till I make like a 90 degree angle and have still seen results.

      I've read a lot about squat depth recently - it has way more to do with your hip sockets and joints than actual ability. I always butt wink every time I try to go much deeper than parallel with heavy squats. To get more glute activation out of your squats try bands, goblet or sumo squats.

      I definitely recommend to! It helps loosen your hips for those hip hinge movements/workouts to focus on your glutes and helps prevent injury most of all 😊

      Before stretching! You always want to warm up and get your blood flowing to your muscles before stretching. It helps prevents injury even more 😊

      I recommend doing this at the gym just so that you are still “warmed up” before your workout. I filmed this at home because I was doing an at home leg workout that day 😊

      It's so interesting that these are exercises I never see in workout videos, but are the original ones I've always done cuz I feel them most. It's nice to see them doing a comeback. I think people get too fancy sometimes.
      Also.. what I've observed (especially with donkey kicks), relaxing my leg between my knee and toes (while flexing the toes) helped me engage my glutes. Otherwise, I end up using my whole leg muscles more and not my glutes. Haven't heard anyone talk about that, so I thought I'd throw it out there for anyone else for whom it might work.

      Girl yes of course I do! I also don’t “punish” myself if I do. Life’s too short not have a cheat day here and there as long as you have self control and it doesn’t become a habit 😘

    Awkward question: are these these exercises unisex? My glute major and piriformis muscles r in knots, causing pain and tingling all the way to foot due to weak glutes. But when I train, the soreness causes more pain.
    So before I do a resistance loop workout I will try this today.
    Guys! get up and do this, weak butts are bad for your health.

      @Carrie M Haha yes the biology is the same, but is it? Hormone differences, we develop muscle and fat at different rates. I do these exercises however, and they work. For healthy mid age men I would recommend medium banded.

      All the exercises from the video are for activation and stretching of the glutes. They need to be done before glutes workout in order to get more effective workout.

      heaven j because doing a dynamic “warm up” before static stretching gets your blood circulating and flowing to your muscles so that when you do static stretch you are not stretching them “cold” and it decreases your chances of injury significantly and it just overall helps “turn on” and activate your muscles better, in this case your glutes. Hope that makes sense!

      You do your actual glute/leg workout! This is just a warm up to activate your glutes and stretch your muscles for your workout to get the best results 😊
