If they let me dhc into ALL super moves. Instead of a predetermined level 1 or level 3. Also i wonder how they could push tag fighters further. I actually do think melty blood is going in the right direction allowing people to turn off the auto combos.
I like to imagine at the end of the villain arc, the villains base power increased from what it was normally, so Ginyu force, Cell, and Nappa don't get completely stomped in the fight...
Growing up with Marvel vs. Capcom 2 being my favorite fighter, and DBZ being in my top 3 anime, this game touched my *soul* when they revealed it. Easily my favorite fighting game of all time. So happy to see you covering it!
I wish we would’ve gotten these graphics/artstyle in a modern budokai game. I absolutely love the way it looks, but didn’t it play it much because it’s such a hardcore fighting game
I think it's a balance thing. The team can get injured and you have to swap people out while the others recover. More team members will make that easier. Even the blue goku and vegeta add two more and already make it too easy
Normally i always preferred a dbz game being 3d and the gameplay being like dbz ultimate tenkaichi, but with fighterz i love the game's art style and it's 2d arcade gameplay but oh god the fact that most of the characters have to be bought with cash is just a bummer, also i remember you can change the intro song to the original dbz budokai 3 theme which is awesome
I grew up in the 90’s, I didn’t think DBZ games would look better than hyper dimension. Then I saw final bout and my mind was blown. But then I got budokai for Christmas and the rest is history! My biggest complaint about fighterz is the loading times.. it is absolutely BRUTAL. It pulls me out of the game. But I got the game and all the characters for like 20$ last year on Xbox so I’m fine. It’s flashy and beautiful but it certainly doesn’t engage me as much as the past games did.
It's so funny how the Red Ribbon Army is pretty much the driving force for the supermajority of above-average Dragon Ball stories. The original RRA Saga? Where Dragon Ball came into it's own fully. Cell Saga? The peak of Z. Super Hero? The peak of Super's actual stories. Broly peaks in animation, but Super Hero is what the fandom has been wanting (the plot to get the hell over Goku) for literal decades. Fighterz? The peak of original plots for the games.
@@EternalStorm796 See, I didn't expect to like Cell Max but I liked it because of the execution. Well to let you know the dragon ball fighters story mode. Timeline is set after the events of Dragon Ball, Resurrection F, but before Goku, black timer storyline, and before tournament of power storyline.
I heard that "The Wretched Automatons" Nier music when you started the Androids arc; you sly devil you XD Video's fantastic, totally echoing my thoughts! Really appreciate watching your channel grow, the dunking on yourself and verbiage have really improved.
Seeing a full breakdown of this story is pretty fun, considering this game is what got me into DBZ as a whole. I'm glad to see long time fans enjoying it despite the genre having a somewhat steep barrier to entry. (Still sad Beerus isn't playable in the story though, cause he's my main and favorite DB character in general) As a sidenote, I found watching this really interesting too, since it kinda shows off a perspective on the game from someone who is newer to traditional FGs. I came to this game from Skullgirls so I was unsure on how well the tutorial worked for new players, and seeing how easy it makes tags and sparking and stuff to ignore kinda stood out to me due to how integral those are in PvP.
For the dlc argument, I recommend just buying the season passes which sometimes go for sales which greatlly reduces the overall cost, saddly as predatory as the practice seem, releasing characters like that is how fighting games extend their lifespan, and believe it or not is better than the old days when you had to literally buy the game again just to get the new characters and balancing (this practice was still in use up to Street Fighter 4 and Marvel vs Capcom 3), nowadays sure dlc can still be pricey but is not the worst it has been and who knows, project L might make f2p an actually viable model for fighting games.
Yeah, this. It's bad, but it's not... *that* bad as long as you buy things on sale and/or wait for the ultimate editions. It's definitely better this way though. It might be a *little* bit worse for people who want/need to get characters immediately, but even then, a season pass is usually cheaper than it would be to buy a new edition.
This game has had so many changes that dlc is not only the characters. Every season has brought new gameplay mechanic and balances and the game is much better now that it was at launch... In PS3 360 era this would be like 4 different games charging full price each time... The dlc doesn't seem bad to me at this point. I mean I much rather have this than "ultimate ultra super dragon ball figterz gt edition"
Strange that even though FighterZ carries a lot from the Extreme Butoden games (same developers) it doesn't carry over the flight transition... Close second favorite storyline. Especially the villain arc. If only there was an interaction with all 3 Frieza, Cell, and Buu. And one with Frieza meeting the Kid Buu clone.
In a traditional 2D (or 2.5D) fighter, flying is kind of pointless unless its like a special stance characters can use. In Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, there's several characters that can fly for a few seconds to stay in their air to extend their combos, but thats about the extent of it
Damn, so Android 21 also wasn't mechanical at all I guess; just created via cellular manipulation. Really weird understanding of what an android/cyborg is.
The game itself is my only fighter that I play online. The single player content in the game might be lacking compared to a lot of other fighting games, But the single player story is both phenomenal and and quite replayable. In fact i'm pretty sure This inspired Capcom to implement the rpg Elements into street fighter six. And I love how much flexibility you have in combos And how much flexibility you have in setups. However, I cannot say that after spending Over four thousand hours in the game, racking up twelve thousand matches against various Opponents of different skill, That the game is enjoyable all the time. I wouldn't call myself a casual but i'm not as Pro as some of the players that are out there. I would call Myself an Advanced intermediate. While the game is easy to get into for the most part, It is very hard to master. And not in the sense, it's hard to master because it has a lot of depth that can be discovered, but it's hard to master because of how lopsided the skill ceiling is. You will either start out knowing how to play the game and just improve upon that. Or it'll start out not knowing how to play at all and end up mashing half the time. There is very little in between. And I will be honest my first few hundred hours were Getting bodied in rank and just struggling to find my footing in a game That doesn't track people's skill that well. And unlike a lot of fighting games I have played in the past. I feel that delay matters most in fighter z than any other fighting game I have ever played. I just can't say the online is perfect or even good outside of playing with friends or a select group of individuals of similar skill. And while I do play on playstation Mostly and am only at rank of Majin, I have played so much of the game that I can only find decent set with tournament Players or people who are ranks above me skill-wise. And because of the lopsided skill ceiling I often find strong players mocking other players because they know those players probably will never beat them. In other games I have played like Tekken 7 I would often find players who were better than me but because that game is so much harder input wise you would often find that your opponent would respect you more if you did win a few then you do in fighterz. But that is just my experience with online. If we're talking about just the game itself it is damn near the best fighting game ever created and maybe the most polished Dragon Ball Game out there in terms of pure combat. And that story mode May well be the only thing you need to play if you just want to experience the game as a game and not a competitive fighting experience. The animations, the sounds, and the characters all feel like they were actually from an episode of Dragon Ball super. With a hint of Dragon Ball Z humor and epicness thrown in as well. It's just sad that fighting games have some of the most lopsided Community out of any genre of video game.
Since it took you so long to play it, I'm surprised that you didn't buy the deluxe edition one of the many times that it was on sale... A $100+ game was being sold for $20 or less, frequently
I will say, the characters are actually pretty cheap if you buy them in the fighter pass. Especially when the game and these packs go on sale all the time, it's nowhere near $100. I've always thought paid dlc characters in fighting games were justified because it takes way more work than just swapping out a model and calling it a new character like a modern budokai would do.
What a chilled and relaxing synopsis of this game, with some bits and bites here and there :D Thanks for the vids and keep it up! Looking forward to your take on Tenkaichi 4 vids when it launches! PS. The bloopers are hilarious xD
That’s interesting to me how you found the story mode to be the most engaging. To you, that was the meat and potatoes of the game. As someone that has around 250 hours of total game time in DBFZ, I honestly never even came close to completing the story mode 😂 I played it for little awhile when i first got the game, but quickly got into training and playing matches against increasingly difficult AI. I eventually created my team of 3, learned combo routes from TH-cam vids, and spent hours upon hours grinding my way up in ranked matches. This game is amazing because not only is it awesome to play and fantastic to look at, it also has something for everyone. We can all spend hours and hours playing this game whether we play the story, fight against friends, or practice combos and grind our way up the ranked ladder. If only rollback net code would finally drop 😭
29:10 well.. you see Dragonball FighterZ is a Modern Fighting Game, which means that you don't get the full experience unless you fork over more money for DLC since Modern Fighting Games are more like Live Service Game, or in other words, if there is No New Season Pass Announced The Game is practicly Dead. but What I hate the most about DBFZ is that there is No playable Hercule/Mr. Satan... It's just kinda an unfortunate side effect that making these characters is so expensive, especially when you can't demo them for youself, but you're kinda expected to just buy who you personally want to play. Kinda an issue with traditional fighters DLC in general. Gets kinda worse when you do get into competitive and the newly released character is busted, though eventually nerfed.
The only pay to win dlc character was lab coat 21, one of her supers gave a debuff to the enemy of 21% kess damage, and you were able to combo into it. Before she got nerf tournaments and locals had to ban her
Need the music at 36:00 , 55:45 , and 1:28:55 . All bangers. Great review but I will say I think the game still feels like a dragon ball game, it's just different since it's a 2D traditional fighting game rather than a 3D arena fighter. I also think if you ever have time to check out the game some more since there's a lot of anime references in the moves and whatnot
I love FighterZ, the dialogue exchanges are chefs kiss but god does the single player and arcade do a *terrible* job of teaching you how to play the game. It’s either too easy or puts some really bad habits into you… but that only matters online I suppose
You should be glad you didn't get to see the game ruined by the drip feed of broken DLC characters. Each one released was faster to act, hit harder, generated more Ki and had a better reach. Should be laws against crap like that.
Great video as always, but I disagree about this game not capturing the “Dragon Ball Z fights” the way tenkaichi and budokai did. It DOES capture that dragon ball z spirit however at a MUCH higher skill ceiling and high level play. Looking forward to more videos :-)
The DLC is just kind of the curse of modern fighting games, at least with FighterZ I feel they go on sale every week. So its not all that hard to be patient and get them over time. Still a crap system and hopefully when they release a next gen version they will come out with a full collection with all of it available but maybe Im just being optimistic
It took me awhile to get into fighterz as well… But when I actually learned how to play by getting my ass kicked by high tier players, its a great ass game
Geez, I spend a $180 on this game? Worth it. That's the downside of fighting games if you weren't there from the beginning of the hype train or bought a bundle deal on sale.
hmmm is that theory from DBZ abridged that 16 is Dr. Gero son cannon in this universe? bcz they never elaborate this in other source materials as if I'm correct... maybe in manga or JAPANESE EXCLUSIVE SUPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
It's from a toriyama interview that 16 was modelled after his dead rra soldier son. He died in a random rra mission not to Goku but TFS ran with that idea
@@psychotropicfan that is f-king interesting, in the Op we see Android 21 with Porunga, maybe she revived and modified Android 16(human-form) into a cyborge? food for thought

@@HiddenChannel Don't apologize, and also don't change your style because of my comment. It was still a great video. All I was saying was the editing felt like the standard a lot of other youtubers use, to which there's nothing wrong with. If it works for you, keep doing it!
I really don't like this game. It's kinda lazy to flic the sprite when you stand on the left side. Even clothes got mirrored. The BattleSystem doesn't make fun at all. Sorry... not my game.
You shouldn't be sorry, you didn't do anything wrong! For what it's worth, the sprite (actually model) flipping is a deliberate choice. This is technically a 3-D game, so there's no reason they *have* to flip it, they could just have the same animation play when the model is turned around. They chose not to though, because if they did, the animations would look completely different when you switched sides (the limb that was in the back facing one way is now in the front, etc.) And if the mechanics don't work for you, they don't work for you. No harm in that. Traditional fighters aren't for everyone.
@@SaberToothPortilla funfact: I love the budokai series. I played tekken and Soul Calibur and had a lot of fun. But it felt way smoother than FighterZ. My favorite fighting game is tenkaichi3. We played the wii version way more than 1000 hours xD good old times

Not really a Ki Gauge per sé, more of a Super Meter 🤓
4:53 hmmmmmmm
The same super-bar location as in Shin Budokai 3... interesting decision dontcha think?
Yay danganronpa
Just discovered your vids, good fun stuff. You should do a xv2 story mode deep dive too
Thumbs up for Majora’s Mask!
Good review but was hoping to see ultimate tenkachi be the next game in this dbz console generation series
I needed a break from the series.
Maybe do a video on the xenoverse games.
I enjoyed the story but not the rest of this game.
It's just not for me.
Yeah pretty much how I feel.
It took me awhile to get into fighterz as well… But when I actually learned how to play by getting my ass kicked by high tier players, its a great ass game
liking my comment 9 months later is crazzyy💀😂
Positive comment
🎉🎉
Just discoverd you today. I really enjoy your commentary, your voice is relaxing and your accent is really cool. This was a very soothing video to listen to of one of my favorite games ever, regardless of how little ive played/enjoyed the story mode. The editing didnt feel wholly original and kinda gave me the vibe of practically every other youtuber, but the way you speak is the reason im going to come back for more. Good job!
Sorry I'm not a good editor. I might cut back on the videos a bit then
@@HiddenChannel Don't apologize, and also don't change your style because of my comment. It was still a great video. All I was saying was the editing felt like the standard a lot of other youtubers use, to which there's nothing wrong with. If it works for you, keep doing it!
Do Legendary Super Warriors Next ‘BM
this video seems kinda clockait if I wanted to hear a play by play of the story mode I would just play it
Its criminal that this game is so good but has the laziest story of all time. Its basically budokai 2 but infinitely worse lol
They chose not to though, because if they did, the animations would look completely different when you switched sides (the limb that was in the back facing one way is now in the front, etc.)
And if the mechanics don't work for you, they don't work for you. No harm in that. Traditional fighters aren't for everyone.
@@SaberToothPortilla funfact:
I love the budokai series. I played tekken and Soul Calibur and had a lot of fun. But it felt way smoother than FighterZ.
My favorite fighting game is tenkaichi3. We played the wii version way more than 1000 hours xD good old times
Ive always hated 2d arcade style fighting games. Could never learn how to play any of them
you can superdash
Super Saiyan Wario for the win!
:D
🙏🙌
Dbfz not a big fan I prefer 3D fighters
huge L but each to their own i guess
I prefer the 3D games too.
what a fucking stupid story.. but good video !
Unfortunately the story mode is ass
Probably the worst DBZ game I've ever played..I mean damn the offline features are absolute trash.
It's not for everyone but it left a HUGE impact on the fighting game and anime games scene
Your lucky that this is the WORST you've played lol
I don’t know how any one could say this is the worst when Taiketsu, sagas, and the first legacy of Goku exist
@@vandad13 I'd play all of those again over Fighterz.. because again the offline features are not.
The story mode in this game is HORRENDOUS
