I absolutely loved this game as whole but I think the development team was rushed to put the game out thus giving us less content compared to the previous Budokai titles (including Infinite World since it's Budokai 3 definitive/refined edition). But I feel that they can rerelease this onto new gen consoles (like PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X, PC, Switch, and Steam). Surprisingly the graphics still holds up pretty good to this day but there's hardly game modes like World Tournament & etc.
I remember not liking this game when it first came out. It's because I was spoiled by Tenkaichi 3. But as the years went on I realize how good this game actually was and I'm upset that it never got a sequel.
As a Budokai 2 and 3 mega fan the Tenkaichi series didnt hit the spot for the "gameplay" i wanted from the series and when this came out i got so fucking hype, imagine my disappointment when it was so undercooked 😭😭😭
I remember first getting a Xbox 360 and playing the demo of Burst Limit and being blown away by the demo. I thought the main release was going to be the greatest DBZ ever. I was ready to leave the Budokai series in the past. Then when it officially released it was a fine game.
At this point, the lack of context in the story mode just feels like the devs were just sick of recreating the same story for the 9001th time. I just wished anime licensed games took the superhero comics route and did whatever they wanted with the story instead of being faithful.
Burst Limit released before Infinite World, not after it. So many assume Burst Limit was after Infinite World because it's on next-gen, but Burst Limit released in June 2008 and Infinite World in November/December 2008. So, they went back and made a real sequel to Budokai 3 xD
When you really think about it this alongside the shin budokai games are one of the last Budokai games we ever got. But with the trailer of the new Budokai Tenkaichi game we might get another Budokai game in the future
Anyone remember the DBZ Burst Limit commercial where everyone shout Kamehameha in every situation and alot of Yotube video try their own Kamehameha commercial? I'm kinda miss that kind of commercial...

I think the company wanted to make a next gen dbz games that split for the 3d version of dbz tenkaichi and 2d budokai .2 games next gen first with burst limit and then raging blast issue was burst limit sequal was cancelled and they just made the raging blast sequal instead. So the whole thing was scrapped as dtagonball games at the time were on the downturn

@@adrenaliner91It’s definitely a good game. It’s success speaks for itself. One of my favourite games but I understand why some people wouldn’t like it.
This was actually the first dbz game I ever played and then I got BT2 on Christmas that year and let's just say that was the biggest whiplash I've ever gotten. From having barely any story cohesion to having the story completely explained was insane
I've only played Burst Limit a few times but it's a pretty stellar game and gorgeous to look at. It had a solid basis with room for improvement... shame a sequel never happened. 0:52 - It's an understandable feeling with how frequently Dragon Ball games had been coming out at that point, particularly when so many of them are retelling the same story that fans know so well by this point. 1:43 - Gosh, I do love that opening. The opening kept the game in my mind to the point that, even thought it was years later, I eventually purchased the game when I saw it in-store. 8:01 - Rather in-depth explanation of the Teleports, Rush and Smash attacks here. The theoretical explanation to how the teleport feels and why it does was pretty neat to hear discussed. 10:25 - Talking about the fluffiness of Raditz' hair was definitely required. The comparison transition you do to show off the reused animation was wonderfully smooth. 13:20 - I had recalled this game effectively being a Budokai 1 remake in a sense, covering the same story beats but with the addition of Bardock and Broly, but now I realise they cover less of the game. Dodoria and Zarbon are hardly the most beloved characters but that jumps a fair bit of time to get to the Recoome fight. 14:52 - Ah yes, the Drama Pieces... I have mixed feelings. I like the team dynamic they bring to the fights and the various effects... but they can activate far too frequently, sometimes in a row, and really ruin the pace of the battle. Cool in concept but flawed in execution. They would work better if they had to be manually activated with an input or if there was at least a cool-down timer before the next one could come into effect. 19:28 - I do recall being visually disoriented but it having less impact of the gameplay experience than one would assume. I think you've done a pretty stellar job of explaining it. Comparing it to tank controls is certainly a unique way to phrase it. 22:45 - Glad to hear that. I don't play online much, so despite being a fighting game fan, I primarily play them as single player games. I've fond memories of playing through the arcade modes of many fighting games to see the endings of each fighters and anime fighters with their large retellings of the shows have always been a delight. 26:46 - It's a wonderful combination of character variety with simplicity of execution. Fighting game story modes have lately been having singular narrative with character changes like this, but that makes it very awkward unless they use that simpler design approach like this game and a lot of anime fighters tend too. 32:34 - I assume that the new-to-hd (and the sudden increase in time and development costs that came with it) development is why the game only goes up to the Cell saga, which I understand, but it's also a point to the story that had been so well covered by all their previous Dragon Ball games. I actually feel that scaling it back to end with the Frieza saga, an instead have the starting point be the rarely game covered 23rd Budokai Tenkaichi would have given it more fresh feeling to the story. You could focus on trying to include as much of these sagas as possible, with Bardocks inclusion fitting well with the Sayain narrative of the Frieza saga, and even include some more of the Dragon Ball movie content like the Dead Zone movie to bridge the 23rd tournament to the Sayain Saga.
I always just thought the game was unfinished because of the full cutscenes shown in the credits I assumed that they didn't have the time to get the voice lines and only had time to get to the cell saga
Ah yes, burst limit, one of the last times they cared about matching the lip flaps to the English dub. I really liked it when it came out and then grew bored of it when raging blast came out and then really liked it again. Also, I loved the "I would really prefer if you'd be quiet" reference. I remember seeing that phrase in so many tomba videos, and I was so confused about why everyone was being so mean. Then I saw that speed run, and it clicked, lol. Also, speaking of tombi/tomba, if you haven't already, there's a great remix of the first soundtrack called the pig nose project. It sounds awesome, and he has a few songs from the second game as well.
