When Chet was a kid, another kid threw a rock at him, and he lost a front tooth. He never fixed it yet played without it. The incident where he lost all his teeth happened much later. Hence, he wore dentures. Here, he is missing that one tooth, obviously. Just love Chet Baker ❤
Really digging Mr Glauco Masetti on alto sax. I believe he's on a few other Baker recordings from Italy and I really like his tone and articulation. Some of the lines are also fantastic while admittedly being very much in the mainstream bebop bag.
Those lip bends he did are unmistakable when you hear them. Most jazz players half-valve everything, but he was bending notes with his lips. 18:57 You hear this a lot in "Summertime" and "There's a Small Hotel."
His trademark tune/song “ My Funny…” There’s only been one Chet and he is sorely missed. Lovely album folks. And thanks for this unique upload. G’day & Cheers!
I'm amazed he sounds as good as he does with those teeth being as they are. A friend of mine says, "You can always tell an American Musician-by-trade by their teeth--They are usually missing some...".
@@agatecub1703 He always had a couple from teeth missing even early in his career, it's an accident that occurred when he was quite literally a kid and then in 1966 he was beaten by thugs

I will never understand why this guy had to start singing... his voice is one of the worst ive heard in my entire life but his trumpet playing is one of the best I have ever heard. Just stick to what you are good at..

What a time to be alive, seeing this in color!
Oh Yes, he was the greatest of them all...........💚💚💚
Great to hear an extended solo by Lars Gullin.
Love that rendition of All the Things. Classic Chet

Missing some teeth already……what a great musician was …
Nice performances by all these cats. Wow, that’s the fascist dictator Benito Mussolino’s son, Romano on piano there!
Fascists are superb musicians
@@MaximusWolfe romano was not a facist, unfortunaly he was the duce s soon but he was only a musician.

It was a a joke, relax.
@@MaximusWolfe do not worry i understand that it was a joke best regards
You're not responsible for your parents!😀 He does a good job on piano.
His lack of teeth are because of thugs who beat him cause of drug money debt he have. Very sad to see.
That was in 1966 :)
Actually he didn’t lose any teeth from that, just chipped some. He would later lose the rest to drugs though

I like his singing
He had a beautiful, dusky, vulnerability to his voice. Get your hearing checked.
His singing in the 1950s wasn't horrible. Certainly not great, but not horrible. Cigarettes and heroin took their toll in his later years.
We all Love Chet
His singing is an acquired taste, I personally like it on some songs
