Holy…. I just found this today. I’m 71 which I only say to put things in perspective. I’ve been seriously loving music since my teens; lived through the Woodstock era; love everything from Bach to Black Sabbath. This is as good as anything I have ever heard. As soon as it was done I had to listen again!
I hear you bro! Back in 98 was doing jump school and listening this tune at nights. Well every 30 sec there was That ping radar sound nearby 😂ping, ping, stan, ping ping, Clark 😂
❤️YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FEAR DEATH IF YOU BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, AND TRUST IN HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART, BECAUSE HE ATONED FOR YOU FOR ALL YOUR INSULTS, THAT YOU WOULD OBTAIN PEACE WITH ALMIGHTY GOD, AND GO TO HEAVEN BY HIS GRACE!
Currently transcribing Chick's solo, insane how an unadvertised ear could think he is playing "anything" to sound out, but actually every single note is well thought, often based on Messiaen second mode

En mi opinión, este tema tiene un sabor a ritmo de pasodoble español , o sea , basado en el ambiente de la denominada fiesta nacional en España . Ole con olé.
This is 'Return to Forever' minus Al DeMeola. Original first lineup consisted of Flora Purim, her husband Airto Moreira (both Brazilians) on drums and percussion, Corea's longtime musical co-worker Joe Farrell on saxophone and flute, which soon after this became 'Return to Forever'...!! Birth name Armando Anthony Corea Born June 12, 1941 in Chelsea, Massachusetts, U.S. Died February 9, 2021 (aged 79) inTampa, Florida RIP Chick
La Fiesta song credit - mysterious - - - - {Chick Corea had played in Miles Davis's band on his albums "In a Silent Way" (1969) and "Bitches Brew" (1970) and after recording an avant-garde jazz album with a band called "Circle" and becoming a member of Scientology, he decided he wanted to communicate better with the audience and play a more accessible style of music. In late 1971 he formed his band "Return to Forever" to perform primarily latin-orientated jazz. The band included saxophonist Joe Farrell, bassist Stanley Clarke, drummer Airto Moreira and singer Flora Purim, some of whom had been in Stan Getz's band together with Corea. They played their debut at the Village Vanguard, New York in November 1971 and recorded their eponymous first album in February 1972 including "La Fiesta". The album was released in 1972, but only in Europe. The US release didn't follow until 1975. Although there is no proof, it seems most likely that Corea composed "La Fiesta" specifically for "Return to Forever" in 1971, but of course it's possible that he had been working on the piece for some time before that.}

A master backed by a dream team. Wow! I have had the vinyl of this since the 70s but have never seen the video - what a treat. It's a brilliant example of virtuosity in the service of the music.
So inspiring and beautiful to watch. As a drummer in my 50th year of playing, there is still so much to learn just watching the right hand of Tony Williams. So much feel, power, dynamics and emotion. This is four of the best musicians we have ever seen. And playing live!! The way it should be!!
Watching geniuses at work is the highlight of the video for me. 1972 is right about the year I discovered Chic Corea, and la fiesta, the Maynard Ferguson version a few years later, and Stanley Clark, and his masterful bass playing, Stan Getz inspired me to understand sax playing better I think most of this line up became the band “ Return to Forever” , a band that expanded my musical understanding of what jazz is and could be.
i also enjoy this performance but you have to know a hell a lot more about the upright base to make a statement like that. for example how many different players can you recognize just by tone and not because they are mixed a tad loud
8:50 Stan Getz a l'air vraiment de se passionner par ce que joue Chick Corea ! ... 😂 On joue pas de la musique, on est à l'usine et il faut assurer la production !!
Yeah, we used to be as well. Stanley the only one of them still alive. Makes me very sad. Not that we're getting closer to the ultimate goal but that we can't take the trip with at least one of them. Being a drummer and guitarist it would have to be Tony Williams. But Sir Stan would be a great honour as well. Armando being my favourite composer since the "Return To Forever" days would be cool to travel to the final destination with to.
@@danclark3377 sounds like he doesn't know what to play. just arpegiating the same thing over and over. getz brilliance was in making shockingly creative and beautiful melodic passages that no one else could ever imagine. ..not sounding like a muted Joe Farrell
@@danclark3377here's an example. Neither Peterson Mulligan, Edison come close to his inventiveness and lyricism. He's so exploding with ideas he takes two solos. getz at his best was incomparable. th-cam.com/video/ptpBDLMrD04/w-d-xo.htmlsi=AkbT5QYpPv-Db_bH

Stanley is the only player in this group who is still on earth.
Tony Williams' drumming on this is incredible!😮
Mind blowing!! 🙏🥁🙏❤️
Williams drumming on this and the studio version are insanely great, all-time stuff.
Currently transcribing Chick's solo, insane how an unadvertised ear could think he is playing "anything" to sound out, but actually every single note is well thought, often based on Messiaen second mode
Tony is so dynamic....and with a fairly minimal kit. Legendary drummer, without a doubt.
hard to believe this is more than 50 years ago. a timeless gem.

They are so energized and freaking beautiful!♥️
OMGoodness....Chick, Stan, Stanley, and Tony❤! Taking me way back.
amazing solo of Stan, Chick was in great journey star space, Tony into Miles vibes, and Stanley great high frequency bass.

What an absolutely fantastic piece of music brilliantly performed! Thank you so much to the uploader! :D
Thank you Arianna.
Getz’s pants are as tight as the rhythm section
Finally a sax player, who is not a half beat behind :)
The quartet could be the name of any of these musicians

I miss this kind of jazz. I've got an opportunity to listen all those great artists live at least once but never together.

凄いメンバーの演奏ですね🎉
Wow what a great trio behind Stan all 5 star top shelf players in their own right
No words. Stanley Clarkes bass performance here might be one of the greatest of all time. What a wonderful tune/vehicle for this lineup.

I love it… wish I had been there.
Must add Chick Corea, Tony Williams and Stanley Clarke to the title!
it's really chick's trio featuring stan lol
All great, but for me the real standout here was Stanley Clarke's amazing upright bass playing (even though he didn't get to solo). Truly spectacular.
Yes, I agree........
Yeah, wow...always a fan of all parties. Never saw this before! Everyone in such top form!))😀🙏
*Edit: thanks @Mr. Wolf))🙏
Thanks!
Wowie!!!! I have this on CD but to see it is mind blowing.Thank you."The Sound"🎶
Thank You Vince!
Beautiful & beautifully played and executed by 4 of the greatest so in tune with one another ❤️👌

Brilliant! Thanks - Peace - Gus ;)
Incredibal all Lá Fiesta records are great but This One I had not heard before and probably it is One of first Thanks for This Spetacle.
Those young dudes made Getz play his ass off. Definitely not “ The Girl from Ipenema “.
Brilliant
Besser geht es nicht! So frisch und leicht, fantastisch!
Genialidad pura y exquisita. Maestros!

Wonderful sound all round! 🎶🎹🥁🎷😃
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bravo !

Wow thank you for uploading this! What an amazing time in jazz history
Thanks!!!
Please someone run this through software to get the stanley/Bass and Chick/keys mixed properly. Bass down and keys up !!
THE LINEUP SPEAKS FOR ITSELF NEED YOU SAY MORE!!!
Proof that modern music is crap! ❤

Who TF are the sidemen because they are incredible
Chick Corea on piano, Stanley Clark on bass, Tony Williams on drums. They are incredible!
They're no sidemen. They are geniuses of their instruments.
Haha Stanley missed a phrase and Stan plays and looks so intense about it.😂
Getz means business. Total gameface
This isn't Getz's genre.
Sure plays like it's his genre.

the chickster so young but damn gotta say scientology is just so fucked up how could he belong to it
Look at his outfit dude... Stan's obviously from another planet. How could you ever understand a man this cosmically brilliant?
