- Military nation Galbadia has declared war on the Dukedom of Dollet, left with no choice but to hire a mercenary force for their defense. Enter SeeD and its newest member: Squall Leonhart. Together with his friends, Squall joins Rinoa Heartilly, a member of the resistance, on a journey that holds the fate of their world in its balance. Final Fantasy VIII is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2019.

I’m so confused at your comment. I own this game on every PlayStation console minus the Vita because I don’t own it. Seriously, FF7, FF8 and FF9 have been ported over to every generation’s console. You just haven’t been looking.
@@mrdude88 they weren't. VIII was only put on the PS3 and Vita due to emulation. The Steam version is literally the PC version from 2000. This game has been MIA due to them losing the source code and a possible dispute over the song Eyes On Me. It's clear, with how long it's taken to come to modern consoles, and an updated PC version, they probably picked the old PC version apart and fixed up the models.
MrDude88 The source code was lost, and because of that there has been absolutely no remasters. The other "releases" were emulations, so it wasn't exactly porting the game but porting the PS1.
This was the case for other Square games as well. FF7 in particular has had bad remasters before because they lost the final source code; every remaster has been built off a much older build of the game. In fact, all of the high resolution image files for FF7 have been lost forever due to this. Kingdom Hearts had to rebuilt from the ground up for the 1.5 HD Remix, as they lost the source code (KH1 was completely rebuilt, remaking assets and reusing assets from later games).
FF9 gets so much awesome remasters purely because they kept the source code.
The reason why this is so amazing is just the fact it is a remaster, not a emulation of the PS1. The source code is crucial in remastering a game, since it contains the original non-compressed assets. So they don't have the source code, but still announced a remaster. This can mean many things, but if there's one things certain the it's that they put a whole lot of work into even making this a reality. :)
My goodness. 20 years and the OST of ff8 is still one of the best of all time

Dark Tyyp I doubt ff7 will be on switch I heard the game will be on two separate disks. I don’t think the switch can support a game like that

Don’t think 11 will be, other than that given XII: Zodiac and XV Pocket Edition are already on. All that’s missing are Japanese only games (II, III, V) the SNES titles (IV and VI) and XIII

Wow. I know this is not a full on remake, but the models were clearly redone and look a lot better. Almost like a PS2 game rather than a PS1.

I'm more excited about this than Final Fantasy VII remake.
The character models are new and updated and backgrounds appear rerendered. This was worth the wait.
I think everyone´s favorite Final Fantasy is the one that they play for the first time, for me it was VIII and for my friend it was VII...but this remaster is announcement is amazing!
I'm not it's episodic and on the controller I hate more than my faulty grey joycons.
Because 8 is better and not an overrated piece of trash

have to say, it looks a lot better than modded ff8.
The models have improved textures and additional geometry on their faces, they even have noses and visible eyes! Looks like an early ps2 game compared to the original.
Now just imagine if the remastered version goes to PC and they're able to improve it even further on PC via mods.

7 had a amazing world
9 had a amazing characters.
8 had a touching story.
I think i might buy 8 on the switch. I remember it fundly back in teens and my girlfriend at the time always made me think of this game. The love relationship stuff. Can't believe it's been over 10 years.

@@FrankenXANA don't wish that they've ruined the sprites on the pc versions and that's what they'll use. Course I want them made in the octopath engine on switch.
Back to build my Triple Triad deck.
As a kid i hated my friend for playing more card games in FF 8 than actually progressing in the story of the game (or it might be that i still have bad memories of losing some of my rare cards to Zell´s mother)
@@soldierorsomething lol! It's fun to play, but boring to spectate. I never really read guides so I didn't discover many rare cards on my first playthrough. My best was Ifrit that you get after defeating him, but I lost that to the kid that runs around Balamb Garden..

Yep. Gonna buy it. I played it all those years ago on the PC. My brother and I played together all the time. We were trying to figure out the junction system and which Magic’s work best for what. Good times.

My first Final Fantasy and my favorite one. A love story and a game that has many secrets. I am still dreaming with a remake, but I am happy with this.

I heard 10 and Zodiac Age were fantastic.
AngelDemon 10 wasn't that great. Not awful but kinda a mixed bag.
Gameplay wise it was good.
Story...eh I appreciate what they were going for but without giving too much away it was a big let down. towards the end.
Final Fantasy VIII - The sole reason I had to drop out of Pharmacy school in college because I played it so much and change majors. Now all these years later I can share this game and experience with my daughter. Can't wait!!!
