Alright Mrs HH, just bought me a water bath canner and using this video for my first canning. This is my 3rd time watching, so I'll let you know how it goes.
I have a steam canner and while I was intimidated at first I watched a video from Sutton’s Daze and jumped in and tried it. So far I’ve done 13 jars of pickles and will be canning peaches this afternoon. It so much easier than my water bath canner because you only use three quarts of water. I look for your videos every day and think you are wonderful. Thanks for all you do.

Girl you look like an Italian grandmother. I love it :) I am now motivated to grow more tomatoes next season. I'm ready to make some sauce. Yes Yes y'all !:)
I admire you. My gardens were beautiful, my tomatoes did well. Bless you, just bless you. My first batches of sauce I peeled the tomatoes. Did the same with a bushel of peaches while covered up in green beans & whatnot. I have a small homestead, with gardens. A small business I recently started. My seventh grand baby was just born. I have bunches of tomatoes & I'm the only person at home who likes tomatoes, not in sauce. Thank you for making my life that much easier by saving me a huge step!
I always use a water bath canner. I have a garden so I never waste the water. I use it to water my outside garden. I would have to do it anyway so I get two uses out of the water. Though, I don't doubt that steam canning is great I know the way I do it is safe. My food keeps for years.
I have been making tomato sauce for years -yours looks DELICIOUS! I cut my tomatoes into pieces as you do, but then I put them in batches in a food processor. From the processor I put it in a large bowl in the sink to sit for an hour and let the liquid separate (I pour this "tomato water" off to save for tomato juice). Then I cook the onions and peppers while the liquid is separating - add the tomatoes (after they have given up a LOT of their liquid), add spices, etc. and cook for an hour and a half (until it is reduced down to about half the amount I started in the pot with). Then it's ready to can for me.
I have a machine I run mine through after cooking. It removes seeds and skins. Then I ladle up as much liquid as possible to make tomato juice and the rest I can as tomato puree. Passata in Italian.
@@YT4Me57 mine is a Weston foodmill. It's electric and take about 4 minutes to process the ammount of tomatoes that Mrs. Homestead heart had in this video. I've put up 22 quarts of passata this year. No skins no seeds! And easy. Most of the parts are machine washable so in they go and I'm done.
Its a game changer. I got mine on eBay. I bought 2 used Braun immersions blenders from the 90’s. One is a fixed speed, the other is variable for doing things like mayo. They are workhorses in my kitchen. Also great for mincing small things like garlic and shallots. If I have to peel the tomatoes, I won’t make the recipe. Too much work for me when I have over 100 lbs of tomatoes to can. Turkey roasters are awesome to cook large batches of tomatoes too. 😉 Happy canning!!
@@AcornHillHomestead from experience, Braun is the best. I love my immersion blender/spiralizer combo and now they got the Vitamix like blender which am watching for on sale.

A lot of restaurants buy from them as well so we will be there as soon as they open to buy all of the tomatoes, onions, and peppers. I have the rest already at home. Happycanning! It’s Monday and I’m following along with you making your sauce. Can’t wait to try it. Forgot to say I did use one hot pepper minus seeds to spice it up a little.

I have a machine I run mine through after cooking. It removes seeds and skins. Then I ladle up as much liquid as possible to make tomato juice and the rest I can as tomato puree. Passata in Italian.
@@meemo32086 my grandmother used to have this hand cranked device that did that. Haven't seen one in years.

My husband says, “What are we doing this weekend? I want to make pasta sauce. “ Which means I will be making pasta sauce. We go to a local Mennonite farm and buy our produce.
