i didn't realize what a great father i had until i got older and saw the chaos in the lives of so many people who didn't have fathers of their own. good dads make a huge difference in kids' lives.

This song means so much to me. Long story short, had a son move to VA at 19 years old . He ask me if it didn’t work out, would I help him get back home. Told him “That’s my job”. About 7 months later he was murdered protecting his girlfriend and unborn son. Took me many days but I got him back home. Love your children and let them know it. Always, ALWAYS BE THERE FOR THEM. 😢

I first heard this song over 30 years ago, and it Still tears me up inside. My stepdad has been. More of a dad than my real dad and I lucky to have him there for me. I'm honored to be called his son.

I felt the same way. My Dad died in 2015 and my bio father in 2016. I cried when Dad died and I still miss him. My bio father I hadn't seen (my choice) since 1977. I was better off not being around the man who made me the target of his abuse because I was the reason he and Mom had to get married. My Dad was the one who was there for all of the important points in my life and that's all I needed.

This is true country music, a story told in song without all the stuff such as electric guitars and everything in your face. That's why the country music of today is not country its pop.

Conway is one of the extreme few who can go on a stage, sit on a stool and sing in front of hundreds or even thousands. Music royalty. Such a legend, very loved and respected. So many singers, especially today, have some gimmick, but he was pure.

Thank you Sushi for this song. I was hoping to see you react to a great song from a young man named Lewis Capaldi and the song is Someone you Loved, I think you will enjoy it.

I love how the chorus is coming from the perspective of the father.. Then it's flipped at the end, and is coming from the son, who's a song writer.

I'm so glad go see you producing new content and I especially appreciate your positive reactions and appreciation for my favorite music like this sentimental hit by Twitty (a stage name) who recorded many. This particular song is a favorite of mine as ut was related around the time I became a father in 1989. I would sing it to my daughters when they awakened during the night to lull them back to sleep. I always imagined the third verse was directed at the singer's own child meaning that one best demonstrates their love and appreciation of their parents by sharing it with one's children.
Along that line, I'd like to see your reaction to another sentimental song about fathers performed by the incomparable "Gentle Giant" Don Williams entitled, "That Old Coyote Town."

The only pa_rt about the story that's a dream is at the very beginning when the kid wakes up and goes to his dad's room everything else is what actually happened. In other words they argued when he was a teenager over what he was going to do with his life, when he was going in the army he was actually going in the army and when he was older he was actually older the story about him and his dad it's not a story about the dream the dream is just the first part of it
