For real! I was sitting in Mission BBQ having lunch with my wife when this came on. I’d never heard it before and thought it was the lost love, other man story. When it hit me what the song was really saying, I almost started crying into my brisket.
I remember walking my daughter down the isle. Just before we started I wiped my eyes. She asked if I was crying and I nodded yes. She asked why and I told her I was losing my daughter and it was killing me. She squeezed my arm kissed my cheek and said I'll always need you daddy. We walked a little taller that day.
The played this at my daughters wedding when her and I danced. I had no idea what song they’d play, if i would’ve know it’d be this song indefinitely would’ve vetoed it. That was the hardest thing I’ve done in my life.
Man I’m dreading that day some boy asks me for my blessing to marry my daughter. She’s only 6 now and she lets everyone know she’s Daddy’s girl. That day will be so hard even though I’ll be happy for her it’s going to hurt too
Your reaction is so sweet and Innocent . You couldn't know that's how a father loves a daughter and seeing her leave for college or get married are certainly bittersweet times.
Me aswell, it's good to have a wee cry now and then. I have an older son but regardless what people say there is a difference between love for a son and daughter.
I would like you, Sushi, to experience another great song about the true nature of life and true love and devotion in Kathy Mattes's, "Where have you been."
*MY FIRST CHILD BORN IN 2006 (DAUGHTER) SHORTLY AFTER HER BIRTH...I WAS AT WORK AND THIS SONG CAME ON.. I IMMEDIATELY STARTED CRYING... I WAS OVERWHELMED WITH EMOTION...SHE JUST TURNED 15... AND HER AND I DANCED TO THIS SONG...12/20/21... DADDY LOVES YOU...LANEY❤❤*
Omg sweetheart, i love you're reactions. So pure and real. After I had my first daughter this literally made me cry like a baby. She's now 15 and I'm terrified...⚘
Brother I feel your pain. It hit me like a train tonight that soon, mine will be a teenager, start dating. Not long after that I'm sure, she'll probably wind up marrying and this song absolutely nails it how we feel as dads.
Great reaction. When my daughter was born and I saw her the first time she got into my heart and has had it ever since. She is a daddy's girl and 35 years later still is love you Amanda
Oh, THAT must have been DIFFICULT! OMG! My girl is just now a teenager, I don't know WHAT I am going to do when the time comes... Hat's off to you, sir.
What every father feels when he loves his daughter. My wife passed away a little over 3 years ago when my daughter was 10. She just turned 14, and this song really hits home, especially knowing that some day I'll have to give her away. Beautiful reaction. ❤️❤️❤️
I'm sorry for your loss. Ill keep you in my prayers. Yeah it's definitely hard to give your daughter away. But I'm sure your daughter loves you with all her heart. And you've always been there for her. I'm glad you have a great bond with her. God bless you and your daughter
This song my daughter and I danced to five years ago in the Dominican Republic, it still gets me every time. Thanks for sharing.I love your reactions. Beautiful song.
Songs like this really don't come around often. I think I will want to hear it again and again. That's how special it is to me and that's how much I love it. Thanks for sharing.
I've danced at 2 out of 3 of my daughter's weddings. Father daughter dances. It brought a tear to my eyes each time. Along with almost every woman that was there. I pray ill be able to have that same joy with my youngest daughter 💓. Hits right at home !
This makes me cry!! I was a daddy’s girl then I married my high school sweetheart I was his first and he was my first love 💕 married and had two beautiful daughters!!!!💖
This was mine and my dads song, unfortunately he passed before I got married so I never got to dance with him except when I had him listen to it when it was first released and we did a trial dance well before I met my husband. That memory makes me cry every time I hear this.
This song kills me everytime, it just completely nails how a Dad feels about his daughter. Love my baby girl so much, she is my world and my everything...my best friend. Being "her Dad" is all I am and all I ever wanna be..it's my joy and honor and privilege to get to be her Dad. From the second the nurse put her in my arms, all my love and time and attention has went to her, and my life before that exact second ceased to exist or matter. Now she is away at college, and man that is so hard for me to adjust to, not being able to hug her every day, looking in her room and not seeing her sitting on her bed doing hw, seeing it empty...i miss being daily Daddy, just miss my girl period. But thats life and I'm so proud of her and I live for those trips to go see her and take her to dinner and catch up, and summer and xmas break. We have found our new normal, but yeah I still tear up really bad like a 210lb baby every time she goes back. I'm gonna be a damn wreck when she gets married one day lol! Love this channel by the way, what a beautiful, smart, and sweet woman and soul Sushi is.
I don’t know if a woman can truly understand that moment when after years of loving caring and protecting your little girl and you hand over that duty to someone else it’s indescribable
I have heard that song before, but now I am deployed and just missed the birth of my daughter. I have never cried so hard in my life. I only made it 2:30 into the video, can’t watch any more. This song has different meaning to me now. I felt like Matthew McConaughey in Interstellar watching his kids grow up all at once watching this. Very powerful song.
Young Lady, Iam one of those Dads, trying to stay all cool and tuff doing my daughter wedding, then came the father and daughter dance, and see surprised me with this song ,by the end of the dance I was crying like a baby, that was six years ago, thanks I am here crying again GEEEE. THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORY OF THAT DAY. KEEP IT GOING
Sounds like my brother's speech at his daughter's wedding. He said there wasn't ANYTHING she could do that would make him stop loving her. He had already forgiven he for anything she would ever do when he watched her take her first breath. Had us all in tears.
My little girl is 11 and going on 30. My whole world. Listening to this son now as a father, helps you understand the level of love he is expressing in this song.
My daddy passed away on my birthday January 10th 2021 and I honestly feel honored that he waited til My birthday to go I balled my eyes out hearing this
I remember this song came out and was popular when our first child (daughter) was born, and hearing it on the radio when I visited my wife and new born baby girl in the hospital. She’s soon to turn 15 and the memories of hearing that song at that time are indelibly etched in my memory. Beautiful song and a beautiful reaction.
My daughter just got married on November 14th and this was the song she and her dad danced to. Believe it or not, I held myself together and didn't cry! It's a beautiful song!
I got one for you ..it is by Lonestar and it is called Amazed...This is the song I sang up on stage the night i proposed to my girlfriend and this is the 1st song we danced too a year earlier... she went out side to have a cig with our friends and thats when i got up on stage....i could see he coming back in and thats when the music started to play ...she heard the song and came running back knowing she wanted to dance to it until she realized that i wasnt there ...she asked our friends where i was at and the pointed to the stage and she dropped to her knees crying.... at the end of the song i called her up on stage and proposed to my soulmate..... This song will bring tears too your eyes
I see a lot of other guys are commenting on using this as the song for the Daddy daughter dance at her wedding,,, I chose this and I was crying like a baby, I'm lucky she chose such a good man, They have a little boy who just turned one,,, Incredible song.
I have a daughter who is a junior in HS. This song wrecked me when it came out when she was little, and I just sat here and cried with you while listening to it again.
I lost my dad when I was 15. When I got married my uncle, didn’t want me to miss out on anything so he walked me down the isle and “demanded” I do the father dance, I broke down half way through it and couldn’t finish it. I’m thankful my uncle wanted to step in and do that for me but this song makes me bawl my eyes out every single time.
I really like your reaction videos. You're such a grounded person and I really love that you are so open to different kinds of music! Greetings from Germany
“Cinderella” by Steven Curtis Chapman. He wrote this song for his daughter. Not long after release she was tragically killed in a driveway accident aged 4 yrs. He never thought he could perform this song but does as a tribute to his daughter
The most beautiful , sand and happy moment in my life was when I walked my daughter, my beautiful little girl to the alter. Today Im a Granpa to two wonderful boys. The memories are so wonderful. Yes...I loved her first ❤️

Please react to Lonestar "I'm Already There" and "My Front Porch Looking In" or Big & Rich "The 8th of November" which has a very touching opening speech by Kris Kristofferson or John Michael Montgomery "Letters From Home" if you want something touching to listen to
THANK YOU for being bold enough to give this a listen and an honest review. Country music too often gets a bad rap, particularly among African-Americans. Yet, as you see, so often the lyrics and music capture and convey very powerful emotions and sentiments. This is an incredible song that reduces this father to tears, anytime he hears it and contemplates having to give away his only child and daughter. My life's mission will be at its end.
Wow, never heard this song before. As a dad of a 5 year old little girl this song kicked me right in the throat. Luckily I have many years ahead of me being the man in her life. This video brought me to tears thinking of the day when I become #2
A song with a similar theme would be Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle. Always brings me to tears. My daughter and I used to do butterfly kisses when she was little. We'd just bring our faces close and flutter our eye lashes on each others like butterfly wings.
My Dad sang this song at my and my sister's weddings. He says he plans to sing it for our youngest sister in February at her wedding. We have a bet on how far he will get before he starts tearing up as she's the baby.
I danced with my oldest Granddaughter at her wedding to this song. It nearly killed me. She is my Peanut and we are so close. Grew up to be an amazing young woman.
I was waiting for your reaction to the twist. This song gets me everytime, my girl is turning 14 soon and I cry like a baby everytime Sushi. Love the reactions :)
I have cried so many times with you, watching your reaction to songs I've heard so many times before. Music can be so very moving, especially when you see how it touches the hearts of others. I love your videos. Thank you.
This is my song about my granddaughter. I was in delivery room first one to see her and carried her to nursery. She is my only granddaughter and she stayed with me just about every weekend. She is 25 now and lives in Florida and everytime i hear this song i cry.
My daughter is 18, and I know someday, she will find that one love. But I know I love my baby first because she is my heart beat with pride, beauty, passion, smile, laughter and my love first 💓 Love this song, even if it tears me up !
Best song to dedicate to a daughter. This song was one reason I've always wanted a daughter. Hopefully some day I will be blessed with a baby girl so my little man can be a good big brother to her.
2 sushi, how you listen to the music and especially the lyrics, I can imagine that you get emotional ... which actually comes across as very sweet. Your nice reaction and comment on it is really TOP.
This is the song my dad danced with my sister to at her wedding, and it’s the same song I’ll dance with my baby girl to at hers. I already tear up every time I listen to it, especially since she came along. I’m probably gonna totally break down lmao
Hi Sushi, I love this song. It means so much to me. I was the first one to Hold my Daughter. Shes hoping to get Married to her Fiance in the nest 18 mths or so, And that will be hard giving her away, But her Fiance is a really good guy,, so I know he will look after her.
It's very difficult. At least it was for me. At the rehearsal, I told "everyone" that I'm not going to "give her away"... I will never do that. BUT, I'll present her for marriage.
The song is an ambush. You think it's a sad lost love song and it ends up being one of the best father-daughter songs ever.
For real! I was sitting in Mission BBQ having lunch with my wife when this came on. I’d never heard it before and thought it was the lost love, other man story. When it hit me what the song was really saying, I almost started crying into my brisket.
Absolutely it is an ambush. Lol. Country music has that gift for some reason. Either you’re crying or listening to a story.

This is the song my dad danced with my sister to at her wedding, and it’s the same song I’ll dance with my baby girl to at hers. I already tear up every time I listen to it, especially since she came along. I’m probably gonna totally break down lmao
The song hasn't started yet. My first thought when I knew you were reacting to this song was... there will be tears. 😉
Cawd!
Many brides that I know have had their Dad sing this while the Bride and Groom enjoy their first dance as man and wife.
Never lose that good heart, we as people need to find more of that ,cause it is slowly being lost. Thank you for true emotions.
As a dad with 2 little girls, this hits hard. Fantastic song.
