My daughter and I danced to this song for her wedding this past Saturday❤
The song is an ambush. You think it's a sad lost love song and it ends up being one of the best father-daughter songs ever.
For real! I was sitting in Mission BBQ having lunch with my wife when this came on. I’d never heard it before and thought it was the lost love, other man story. When it hit me what the song was really saying, I almost started crying into my brisket.
Absolutely it is an ambush. Lol. Country music has that gift for some reason. Either you’re crying or listening to a story.
Anything you'd recommend for Father/Son? Asking for my friend Chuck.

The played this at my daughters wedding when her and I danced. I had no idea what song they’d play, if i would’ve know it’d be this song indefinitely would’ve vetoed it. That was the hardest thing I’ve done in my life.

I remember walking my daughter down the isle. Just before we started I wiped my eyes. She asked if I was crying and I nodded yes. She asked why and I told her I was losing my daughter and it was killing me. She squeezed my arm kissed my cheek and said I'll always need you daddy. We walked a little taller that day.
I got married 49 years ago & still remember my Dad's reaction ... He wept through the whole ceremony.. Touched my heart then & still does today. ❤

I’ve never heard this before & thanks for a beautiful song. As a father of 2 young daughters, I shared a nice cry over this one.
Me aswell, it's good to have a wee cry now and then. I have an older son but regardless what people say there is a difference between love for a son and daughter.

What every father feels when he loves his daughter. My wife passed away a little over 3 years ago when my daughter was 10. She just turned 14, and this song really hits home, especially knowing that some day I'll have to give her away. Beautiful reaction. ❤️❤️❤️

This song kills me everytime, it just completely nails how a Dad feels about his daughter. Love my baby girl so much, she is my world and my everything...my best friend. Being "her Dad" is all I am and all I ever wanna be..it's my joy and honor and privilege to get to be her Dad. From the second the nurse put her in my arms, all my love and time and attention has went to her, and my life before that exact second ceased to exist or matter. Now she is away at college, and man that is so hard for me to adjust to, not being able to hug her every day, looking in her room and not seeing her sitting on her bed doing hw, seeing it empty...i miss being daily Daddy, just miss my girl period. But thats life and I'm so proud of her and I live for those trips to go see her and take her to dinner and catch up, and summer and xmas break. We have found our new normal, but yeah I still tear up really bad like a 210lb baby every time she goes back. I'm gonna be a damn wreck when she gets married one day lol! Love this channel by the way, what a beautiful, smart, and sweet woman and soul Sushi is.

I've danced at 2 out of 3 of my daughter's weddings. Father daughter dances. It brought a tear to my eyes each time. Along with almost every woman that was there. I pray ill be able to have that same joy with my youngest daughter 💓. Hits right at home !

Sounds like my brother's speech at his daughter's wedding. He said there wasn't ANYTHING she could do that would make him stop loving her. He had already forgiven he for anything she would ever do when he watched her take her first breath. Had us all in tears.
This was played at my granddaughters wedding when we danced. I gave her away as her father walked out when she was 6 weeks old, his loss.

My daddy passed away on my birthday January 10th 2021 and I honestly feel honored that he waited til My birthday to go I balled my eyes out hearing this
I have heard that song before, but now I am deployed and just missed the birth of my daughter. I have never cried so hard in my life. I only made it 2:30 into the video, can’t watch any more. This song has different meaning to me now. I felt like Matthew McConaughey in Interstellar watching his kids grow up all at once watching this. Very powerful song.
I have four daughters love this song. My seven year old daughter mad me cry she said daddy I never want you to get old. I said why. Because I don’t want you to die. I told her don’t worry I’m not going anywhere for a long time.
This was mine and my dads song, unfortunately he passed before I got married so I never got to dance with him except when I had him listen to it when it was first released and we did a trial dance well before I met my husband. That memory makes me cry every time I hear this.

“Cinderella” by Steven Curtis Chapman. He wrote this song for his daughter. Not long after release she was tragically killed in a driveway accident aged 4 yrs. He never thought he could perform this song but does as a tribute to his daughter

I lost my dad when I was 15. When I got married my uncle, didn’t want me to miss out on anything so he walked me down the isle and “demanded” I do the father dance, I broke down half way through it and couldn’t finish it. I’m thankful my uncle wanted to step in and do that for me but this song makes me bawl my eyes out every single time.
A song with a similar theme would be Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle. Always brings me to tears. My daughter and I used to do butterfly kisses when she was little. We'd just bring our faces close and flutter our eye lashes on each others like butterfly wings.

This is my song about my granddaughter. I was in delivery room first one to see her and carried her to nursery. She is my only granddaughter and she stayed with me just about every weekend. She is 25 now and lives in Florida and everytime i hear this song i cry.

Yet, as you see, so often the lyrics and music capture and convey very powerful emotions and sentiments. This is an incredible song that reduces this father to tears, anytime he hears it and contemplates having to give away his only child and daughter. My life's mission will be at its end.

This song reminds me of when I asked my now wife, father for his blessing to take her hand in marriage.. I was scared to death but went man to man to do my respectful duty.. It was in the office of his church as he is a preacher. His response, and I quote... "Of course we (her father and mother) give our blessing. We want you to marry our daughter." That was 7 years ago. Never in my life have I felt so accepted and honored... While he "gave" her to me, I will always respect that "he loved her first...."
