I loved AC3 as an Indian because the Connor attitude kind of resonated with the mindset of every countries people who were colonised by the Europeans, his main goal was not to do something never heard of or create a different world but to safeguard his own people his tribe and get them a place to live peacefully which he was not able to achieve, same way many colonies tried to live their own life but failed a lot.
People are so hard on Connor. A character who’s culture is completely outside of the world he finds himself in. He’s supposed to be a “grey” misfit who doesn’t fit in. Hes not supposed to be normal or charming, there is nothing normal or charming about his circumstances. He’s stubborn & naive, yes, but only because he dedicated his life to seeking redemption for his people.
About the complexity of Unity's maths in the parkour: I'm studying game dev rn, with maths as a module. 2months ago there was an assignment that had me going down the rabbit hole of quaternions (they're used for rotations in game dev,), and I somehow stumbled upon code for AC Syndicate's train carriages that was filled with these quaternions. How the carriages attach together, how they turn as the railway curves. It was mind boggling stuff honestly. Been coding for almost a year now and I couldn't make sense of all that code, and that was just for simple trains that most gamers could care less about😂. I cannot even begin to fathom the maths and physics of a parkour system as intricate as Unity's. The maths alone would destroy my will to live, and the coding would make sure it never returns. A developer prolly achieved Tesla level genius perfecting the calculations for that game's movement, only for the whole world to hate the product (rightfully so) but still, it must've been soul crushing. Those Unity devs were really pained by the game's reception, after all the love they put into it. All because of executive decisions. And somehow that's still the career I'm aiming for. It's funny just thinking about it.
I feel so bad for whoever had to break their neck trying to figure out how to code Unity. Also, if you still have the code for AC Syndicate, I'd be very interested to see it (altairstealth1@gmail.com).
I think one of the best things syndicate did, was making the outfits fit in with what civilians would wear back then. Especially with Jacob’s outfits, (specifically Simply Jacob) it’s the first ac outfit that made me not only feel badass, but also made me feel like he could actually blend in with people around him.
yeah, i'm not American but AC3 is one of my favorites. I have a similar personality to Connor(in the sense that I'm quiet, don't take bullshit and questions many things wich would make me look annoying) so I think I relate to him the most. The whole thing about the cost and consequences of freedom really hook's me
Agreed, I thought it was really cool that we got to see the revolution though the POV of Connor, who was someone not very much familiar with the world outside of the Frontier Wilderness.
I love these longer discussion kind of videos, as I said in my comment on the first one they give me this chill vibe and I can relax for 30 minutes listening to your and other people's opinions about my favorite video game series. You should definitely do more parts.
I also love tailing missions. It's basically the game requiring that you get good at fast stealth, which is the whole appeal of this franchise to me anyway, while adding a layer of harmony with the setting, making you feel like you're really tracking and hunting your targets down to learn information. There's something ultra satisfying about stalking someone from the rooftops just behind them, I feel like historical Batman
@@ProperlyGaming Edward is the protagonist I wanted a sequel with the most and Arno should have had a crossover with Shay. Plus I heard fans mention Connor needing a sequel as well and a sequel with Basim working with Hytham could be interesting.
@@ProperlyGaming Actually maybe controversial, but I think Edwards Story has exactly the right length. But I would love to see an Haythem game where you see the End of Edwards story from an outside perspective (especially if it is handled like the book about haythem). I wholeheartedly agree with the other two.
Hahahaha damn had given up hope that this video was ever going to come out, and I see you decided to copy my broken laptop excuse. Good choice. Thanks for the shout-out and the pleasant disagreement. I am satisfied.
Great takes on tailing missions. I would also add not combining tailing missions with eavesdropping since it really limits the amount of space you are allowed to be from the target(s) as you follow them. Just leave it as keep them within your sight without being seen. Also don't have it be places where it's too dark to see like Charles-Towne at night in AC 4 nor make the tailing mission too long like following the guard with the Apple of Eden in AC 2.
2) hillelhadi5844 isn't the only person who loves tailing missions, we're 2. Yes, that includes IV, largely because tailing missions are executed the best there. It makes me feel like an actual assassin, like a stealth protagonist working his way towards his spycraft goals while proactively ditching detection and executing their parkour prowess. I hope I'll see more in the future despite community backlash.
4:00 I would say that as an American that the reason I like AC3 so much is because it has an indigenous protagonist. If Connor was white, this story would have no purpose.
It also just makes the whole Assassin thing more compelling and logical. Minorities would just be more likely to fight for change in society. In other words, Ubisoft, Uyghur Assassin when?
@@CloudDieStrifendeI also think part of what made the first AC interesting is how you follow the perspective of people who are fighting colonization but will essentially lose anyway. Like yeah the Crusades eventually ended but the Assassin Order is destroyed by the Mongolian Empire in less than a century and the British eventually colonized Palestine anyway, and ACIII functions similarly where we know that the story ends tragically. Although I think ACI is still more interesting in some ways like how you had to find a way to cross borders to get into the different regions and different regions were controlled and populated by different people
damn so i've been following you for nearly a year now? 😭time sure flies I never really interact by commenting as I'm most of the time part of "silent" part of the community, but I felt like it for once! I just wanted to say that this was a great video, as always.
With AC Unity they had such a massive chance with the french revolution to create a story that impacts real life events. Instead they chose a love story...
Nice video! Sorry for what happened with your holiday and your Mac. Please write down my take for the future video and make sure not to delete :) I'll keep it fairly short, despite I have many more controversial AC takes. ACIII is the best AC game ever. For me that is, but hear me out. I believe it has the best soundtrack, direction, modern day, acting, lots of cool characters that are nicely written, story is great, good drama. While it has the best combat system, animations, keeps collectible bloat to a minimum. It's like being in a film. I cherish so much the soul and work they've put into production, I wish we would have another AC game like that. Connor might be not the best protagonist but he's relatable and the struggle is real. And I love the setting and history, albeit flawed, I've learned so much. Oh, and I'm not an American, I'm Ukrainian, I belive our setting, largely unknown and overlooked, would be superb, I would be drooling if I see my history books unfold, but I'm saying this just so you know I don't have any inherit bias towards American war of Independence times setting. Sean's database helps a lot too. It's beatifully concentrated and I love it.
Yeah AC III was so cool in many ways, especially cause I think it was the game that got a lot of people into the franchise too, including me. Would love to see Ukraine as a setting.
First of all great video! I would really like to see an Assassins Creed without any Esu Artifacts beeing part of the main storyline. In my opinion they have become a lazy McGuffin over the years and I would like to see a story where they only focus on the struggle between Assassins and Templars. Therefore the Plot would have to actually focus on why the Templars are "evil" and would show their impact on society rather then their hunt for some magical object.
I remember when I first found this channel it had 200 subs and now it has 17.4K and counting.... You manage to add unique perspective to a topic like AC that has over a decade of content with interesting takes and approaches. Man, I'm so, so happy for your success and may that success continue to grow, and most importantly, last.
@TheSpaniardAssassin Me too, man. Do you remember how much I praised your descriptions in your other channel? I'm happy The Spaniard exists because I always thought Altair Stealth had the potential to become a great analyst due to the thoughtful and interesting nature of his descriptions and when I saw the channel was picking up I was glad. Best of luck in the future and stay safe.🙂
Bro played AC 4 Black Flag's Prologue IN REAL LIFE !!! Now THAATS a reason and a half to be " late " for that video . ( Still waiting for Ezio Lore Accurate Playthrough(s) - from the 3 different games - COUUGH , COUUUGH ) Jk Take your time We love you ma man !
Brother loved the video......I genuinely think the next ac is gonna blow most of us away ..... from outer look, the game might look bad or cluncky but the footage we have seen so far was not finished by any means ....and from the statements they have given in the latest earnings call .....it seems to me like that they have their back against the wall just like they had in 2014 in terms of share prices .....they will do everything in their power to make the ac shadows, as polished, as clean, as appealing as possible . Loved that your GF knew the lore behind ac series's existence very impressed ....
More Ac games to play but could use your help. can you make a lore accurate guide on how to play ac Odyssey and ac Valhalla? Please and congratulations on the 10k subs.. well 17k
I don't even know if it's unpopular but my opinion is that not a single AC game lived up to it's potential, there are a bunch of AC games I absolutely loved but every game could have been much better, alot of the time with only minor adjustments, the only AC game I think came close is 2 but even that could have been better with a few small changes like having repeatable missions for example I also think Bayek has easily the best voice acting in the series and I don't think it's particularly close, he's the only AC character that in my opinion has as good of a performance as the great Farcry villains Vaas and Joseph
I would say Brotherhood was the closest one to live up to its potential. Even if the game's story is just servicable at best, there is hardly any challenge and the fact that it's just AC 2.5. There is something admirable with how polished & well executed nearly every piece of content that game has in comparison to the rest of the franchise. And the fact that the game is relatively bug free and doesn't feature nearly as much jank as other AC titles is impressive for a game that was in development in 1 year.
@@fredster594 I do prefer Brotherhood to AC2 but at the same time 2 did some things better, and while it's very impressive in the timescale if they were given an extra 6 or so months I think it could have been quite a bit better
You should def watch AlienPlatypus’s origins video essay. It’s long as shit, but pretty much all the video gets to the point with criticisms and nice editing.
@@TheSpaniardAssassin I would love to hear your opinion about the video. It's one of the most in-depth criticism videos I've ever seen. The guy rips Origins to shreds and, even though a bit nitpicking, the arguments are valid.
The video at around 22:10 matches your sentiment perfectly. Having to roll to get around Basim slowing down on a slight step and taking 2 seconds to accelerate up to speed. One could argue the latter is realistic, but it sure isn't fun or fitting for a thief. I miss the freedom of being able to kill myself if I make a mistake. It felt godly improving and growing through the game, to the point I lost countless hours in it, just running and jumping around. Hitting the best and fastest routes, then making it look perfect. Let me fucking wall eject Ubisoft, "contextual" my ass
I know I’m a little late to the party but I got two opinions for AC: 1. I actually enjoy AC Mirages Combat, the simplicity of the controls and the small amount of mechanics makes it fun in a simplistic way, and all the little techs you can do like thrown a dagger mid-combo or parrying arrows shot at you is nice and it’s addictive to try and get and not get hit once by the mercenary that shows up when you’re at the 3rd notoriety level 2. I think an AC set in the American Civil War could work beautifully, from the story theming to the wildness of the western areas counterbalanced with the industrial cities of the north and the large expanse of farmland in the southern regions, the game could also swap perspectives from two characters like an escaped slave becoming an assassin and a Templar from the southern states who’s been raised in that environment
Thank you for including my comment in the video! I wasn't expecting it to make the video. I would also like to apologize my comment was more to emphasize the storytelling of a rockstar/naughty dog/santa monica studio. Not to make a parkour comparison between the two. But I didn't mention that in the comment to not make it bulky. My bad!
I think what the commenter who said Brotherhood and Revelations ruined AC2's ending could have been making 2 points: The first is that sparing the pope became comically dumb when you saw Ezio continue to kill people the very same way in the later games, and when you saw the insane amount of problems that decision would cause Ezio and the brotherhood in general. This would be a good point if sparing the pope wasn't a comically dumb plot point in AC2 already, but it was, so it's sort of irrelevant how the sequels made it even dumber, though it is a bit funny. The second would be that Ezio having to live with the cosmic uncertainty of what happened to him in the vault forever was a very powerful note to end the game on. He went through all of that, suffered and fought so much, all to come face to face with the knowledge that he was nothing but a tiny piece in a story infinitely larger than him. That he wasn't even a messenger, he was just the metaphorical pigeon that carried a message from someone he can't know or understand to someone he would never even have a chance to see. It was an uneasy ending that hammered home the larger, science-fiction concepts of the series and truly made the player understand they were witnessing a much larger story unfold. I really don't like how the modern day is handled in any of the games past the very first one but I have to admit that this is a very strong moment. And it is a moment that is somewhat dulled if we see what happened afterwards. Not knowing is exactly what makes it so uneasy. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a moment that was ruined by knowing what comes next, but I see his point. It's a moment the developers dispelled intentionally, by having Ezio take control and speak to Miles directly in Revelations, and in that sense it is 'ruined' but I'd more call it a pivot to a different direction. Instead of it being an uneasy ending it was made an important step in Ezio's development as a character, which is a perfectly fine, although different role for it to serve. But it's still a compelling argument. edit: I also think the commenter that said classic AC has weak stealth made a really good point. It being unconventional isn't the problem, it lacking complexity and player choice is. Just look at how a similarly unconventional stealth game, like hitman has infinitely more complexity and is far more non-linear than anything in classic AC. And the statement that the focus just was not on stealth I think can not be argued with. Just tally up how many missions there are in the Ezio trilogy where you actually use stealth to eliminate your target compared to action setpieces or chases or something of that sort and you'll see that past AC1, classic AC has zero intention to focus on stealth. You said in an earlier video, I don't remember in which one, that of course AC fans will say every game in the series is good but if some games in the series were compared to the gaming landscape in general they would stand zero chance. Applying that line of thinking to classic AC stealth, I think it becomes inarguable that it is pathetically weak for a series that's supposed to have stealth as one of it's pillars of gameplay.
@@TheSpaniardAssassin I wish I was aware of this Q&A beforehand because my inflammatory AC take is one that I definetely think is worth a whole video to discuss it, and it's whether or not the Ezio trilogy is so beloved because of nostalgia or for it's own merits. I, as someone who's played the classic games pretty much back-to-back for the very first time about a year and a half ago believe in the former and have not yet heard a compelling enough argument for the latter to change that view but I'm very interested in what makes you hold these games in such high regard besides your nostalgia, and what makes you say Ezio is one of the best protagonists in gaming, which I think is an extremely difficult view to argue for in a convincing way, despite of how popular it is in AC circles. Obviously I'm not gonna outright ask for a video like that but I will say I'd be very interested in it.
@@JosephJoeseph I second this. I’ve been playing the games also back to back for the last couple of months now and I have to say that Ezio might be the weakest protag in the whole franchise. He’s basically a self-insert for teenagers, an action figure, a WWE face, a Marvel hero with no complexity. I even put Connor and Arno above him because they actually suffer the consequences of the revenge seeking. Meanwhile Ezio doesn’t suffer any consequences for his actions. When he makes mistakes, nobody speaks against him. When they do, they are portrayed as the wrong side (See how none of the Templars had redeeming qualities unlike AC 1 Templars. I’d say that they were the one dimensional ones lol. Or see Paula saying that the town criers are in the wrong because they’re warning people against Ezio for being a homicidal criminal, which he is. Or the fact that Machiavelli chastises Ezio for letting Rodrigo go, which Ezio doesn’t even have a plausible answer for and Cesare being the one to attack Monteriggioni, so again Ezio never suffers consequences for it). His womanizing behaviour isn’t something honorable and he never changes for the better (see Sofia in Revelations and I have to remind you he’s like 50 something in this game). His revenge plot pretty much ends in Sequence 5 in AC 2, the rest are just names on a list. His speech in the DLC makes no sense because his friends were the ones who trained him to become an assassin, ergo the ability to run after the Templars. And after that he still seeks revenge and goes after Rodrigo, says that “he thought he was above this, but he isn’t”, 5 minutes later he spares him. I can go on and on but nobody cares because they like their rose tinted glasses. At the very least they should just be honest and say they like the trilogy (and Ezio) for the nostalgic effect. This just my opinion though so please don’t come for me 🫶
@@katlablessedYou can't believe how cathartic that was for me to read. I hate Ezio, purely because I don't see why people like him. Everyone says his journey is one of the best stories ever told, when really it's just a Disney/Marvel-like product. These exact thoughts has been bugging me ever since I played it again a few years ago. He's a power fantasy, a Mary Sue. Connor is a character with a heart of gold, selfless and wants to protect his people (tribe or close friends) even if he follows the wrong people. Like Washington and Haytham. I believe most people, who WERE teens at the time, loved his Romeo-esque character and fell in love with him for that and almost ignored the bigger flaws of his character. I have so much I want to discuss about his character and journey, but I don't want to make this comment too long. But I'm glad I'm not alone thinking this.
@@spelareNR14 Oh I definitely feel you. And I cannot express how disappointed I was when people told me that AC2 was the best in the series, so I should start with that. That I shouldn’t even bother with AC1. I don’t have any nostalgia attached to any of the games except Unity (because I was older back then and hadn’t played the others) and whatever I knew about the whole premise, I had forgotten already. Then I bought AC2. Storywise it was fine at the beginning. I personally like broody, dark, sometimes serious sometimes charismatic characters, but after Sequence 5 or 6, I knew where it was going. No depression, no reflection on the executions… I LOVED that “Me, Ezio! Ezio Auditore!” moment but after that, he just became another Marvel superhero to me. People around him were saying things like “oh my god, he’s so maddened with thirst for revenge, he’s so angry, so brash” and I was just like… huh? What thirst for revenge? He’s just a good guy killing some bad guys. Just a cheap Batman story with Disney’s “power of friendship” elements. Then you have Connor. I didn’t understand his character at first, because I didn’t know how to do the Homestead missions (lol). As it turns out, his real personality was hiding behind them. And for some reason, they chose to cut his monologue out of the remastered version, so I got to listen to him yelling at Haytham much later. (Very long analysis of AC3 incoming, feel free to skip) AC3 is so subtle like AC1 in characterization, you actually need to pay attention to the conversations and even in which tone the characters talk, which I LOVE. But I was so frustrated with the game mechanics, I couldn’t focus on the story. Besides, I’m not American so I only knew the basics about the war. Then I read up some posts about it, MY MIND WAS ACTUALLY BLOWN. The story is such a dilemma, a catch 22 situation and I loved it for that. Connor’s story is so much more complex than Ezio’s (which isn’t saying much because the bar is so low) that’s why the teenagers couldn’t understand the ending, how the Templars, especially Haytham, were playing both sides to secure control over the Colonies, then the whole world because, you know, USA as a country is (one of) the strongest now. How desperate they were to kill Washington and replace him with Charles Lee, because they wouldn’t have absolute control over the Colonies under British rule. How Charles Lee couldn’t be the one who killed Ziio anyway, because the Templars needed the Natives for their knowledge, so they had to protect them. How Connor still runs after Charles like a mad man although he now knows Washington is the one responsible for his mother’s and people’s death. He runs after him because he goes into hunting mode whenever he hears the name. Connor isn’t the one doing the decisions, it’s his subconcious filled with childhood trauma telling him to kill Charles Lee, because kid Connor promised he would find him. You say Connor followed the wrong people, I say there weren’t any right ones to begin with. In the end, he had to choose between avenging his mother and helping his people. Past and the present, but never the future. He never had a choice in the future. For both of the factions would chase the Natives away no matter what. We know what happened in real life when the Patriots became victorious. Would the British do anything different? I doubt it. They were looking for more taxes anyway. Was it all worth it then? Connor wanted to save his people, only to be the one with their blood on his own hands. Only to be left all alone without notice. He wanted to avenge his mother’s death, but in the end he couldn’t, because the Brotherhood supported Washington’s fight for freedom, consequently Connor also had to support him. He wanted to make up with his father, only to end up as his killer. He wanted freedom for all, but was the main reason why the Patriots won, who then later became enslavers. Whoever’s reading this, I’d like you to compare this premise and ending to Ezio’s three. Don’t forget the fact that Ezio’s whole story and its peaks (like AC2’s ending) are HEAVILY supported by the modern sections and Altair’s memories. Connor’s story is so deep in so many levels, I could never do it justice no matter how much I explain here. But basically, Connor was the guy I was looking for in Ezio’s story, the real deal, who was blinded with hatred and thirst for revenge, who makes mistakes with actual consequences, an outcast who could never relate to your pal Joe, a person who cannot let go of the past due to deep trauma hiding within. I thought Connor was just being depicted as childish when he shoved people off for touching his shoulder. Then I thought, hell, if I were him, I’d beat them up on the spot, because deep down he was getting impatient with the games Americans played on him. But whenever someone Connor respects, like Sam Adams, touches him, he doesn’t flinch or shove them off. He starts to speak much more fluently throughout the game. When Connor doesn’t like/know you, he won’t shake your hand but will be the initiator if he does. He doesn’t even like or trust white people, yet fights for their freedom. It is theorized he’s slightly afraid of open flames due to Ziio’s death, he covers his face near campfires. He trusts Juno at first because he thinks she’s a spirit. Has no problems living with Achilles because he isn’t white. Connor’s so unaware of the real world as a child that he thinks Achilles can’t go to the city to buy supplies because he’s old, not because he’s black. When Connor removes the hatchet from the pillar, he turns around to see multiple trees he could’ve used, feels embarrased. This game is truly filled with small details that supports his character, it’s mind boggling. I can definitely go on and on but I think this is long enough lol. Sorry about the whole AC3 fangirl rant.
I think that people (including myself) like the "stats" part of Odyssey because of the feeling of progression it gives many players. When you engage with the systems the game has to offer, it really has a good progression and the stat increases are a testament to that. Though, I only say this as a fan of every AC game and most game genres in general. I love traditional RPGs where you manage stats for similar reasons as to why I like Odyssey. I can TOTALLY see how it can be really annoying and frustrating to people who are not fond of that type of game.
The Community is somewhat at fault for the "downfall" of AC and the introduction of the RPG element becuase of the very positive reviews on Origins.Ubisoft is also kinda at fault for not taking the hints that the slight aspect of RPG in the sense of gear or armour that gives you advantages/disadvantages with the classic formula of AC was what we really wanted instead of just a RPG based in different areas with the name AC slapped on for marketing.
25:39 - cannot agree more. Also with their upcoming AC multiplayer they may be able to implement that idea. I like it and I think it can add a whole a lot of replayability. For those who don't know, it is rumored that AC Invictus takes inspiration from Fall Guys so there should be some races or maybe other competitions or challenges that involve parkour as well as assassinations probably.
Imo, AC 1 had a very satisfying combat system. The fact enemies can do what you can do (besides the hidden blade of course) makes it better for me than "this guy can parry all your attacks so you must do this". Having enemies that can counter attack, combo strike, guard break and dodge back and follow with a lunge attack, just like Altaïr can, makes combat better than what we got now. And just to add on, AC1's vaulting mechanic seemed cool, being able to vault off of a ledge or over a beam above ground is cool to do, I wish it was added later games.
As someone who lives in america who is also indigenous, I don't like ac 3 because of the setting. I like ac 3 because of nostalgia due to it being my first ac game. I like that the protagonist is a native turtle islander (what america was called before colombous showed up) which makes me feel a sense of connection to the main character. I like the expanded recruit system, specifically the riot ability because there's nothing I love more than uniting the masses against a government authority. And finally, I love that the founding fathers are not presented in a positive light, the story makes it pretty clear that they were not the good guys. There are a lot more reasons I have, but these are my main ones.
3:35 as a german, i kinda like the setting, but its really more Connor and the conclusion of the Desmond storyline. I love AC3, but it could have been so much more...
I loved ac3. Everything about it. It was such a charming game it had a unique vibe. Building the homestead was awesome, the fighting was satisfying and the world was massive. Edit: it felt massive
AC Rogue would have been better with Haytham as the protagonist, and Shay would have been amazing for a game where the protagonist neither followed the assassins nor the templars but instead made his own creed fighting for what he believed that the assassins should have done.
So I was actually playing AC 3 when it was coming out, during middle school as I was learning about the Revolutionary War. And my teacher would ask how I knew the answers to certain questions and I'd answer "assassin's creed" And he'd roll his eyes He was a super chill teacher. A younger dude teaching history and bantering about half life with us nerds lol
AC3 was not great at the time but aged well overtime. Playing it now in remaster I appreciate the story, Connor and the open world a lot more than I did playing it alongside Black flag and Rogue
my hot take is probably that origins has better music atmospherically then ac 2 or any other game in the franchise idk if this is unpopular but its just such a good soundtrack
I'm sorry, but we (Poles) are also learning AC3 setting in school. And personally I also agree that Connor is absolute badass. But it still doesn't change that the game itself and it's plot aren't that great.
3) I like AC games as hardcore and as real as possible. When you have full Ezio's armour, 15 meds, arsenal and chainkilling 15 enemies in a row that's not hardcore, that's medieval GTA. That's why I love my Mirage Master Full sync challenge. AC games are easy and catered towards casuals, which is understandable, but I wish they would have hardcore settings catered towards audience like me (and many of us in the dedicated community), same with parkour, I hope we'd have free and simplified systems toggle. Also I believe more realism adding to assassin fantasy wouldn't hurt, so anyone would have an option to make a game as challenging as they see fit for themselves.
Prince of Persia and AC are both from IRAN and its Indo European culture and language, the MAIN AC castle is still inside Iran, sure the Mongols destroyed it, but its there. and Persia and Media and Parthia were all Iranic people who migrated from Europe to Iran to build their empire. There are many Persian words that are the same as english, No other European country has that much. Example: mother= madar, brother=baradar, daughter= dochtar, father= pedar, thunder= tondar, door= dar, mourge= marg, typhoon= toofan, and much more, Also Paradise is a persian word that is called pardis meaning garden.
I love tailing missions too 😂 but yes in moderations. I like the idea that I’m a ghost and that the target has been in danger for the whole time, but my character is disciplined and patient as to not kill but gather info
23:02 Spoiler Warning: This is actually true and an AC Valhalla comic confirms it, where one of the protagonist's who was training to be an Assassin but comes to a realization tells Hytham after that the Hidden one and Order of Ancient are not so different, that they would always find a way to kill. To which Hytham responds with "We have been fighting the order for centuries." Which the protagonist (Niels" replies with " Thats the problem Hytham, if your path was true you would have won a long time ago. A thousand years from now, you would still be fighting"
I think I know where the last guy is coming from because there's a So Says Jay video that kinda shares that idea, which is basically that AC2's open ending was meant to lead into AC3, much like AC1 open ending lead into AC2. The point being that this was supposed to be Desmond's trilogy, with each game being a little window into the ancestor's life but only so much to inform Desmond as a character, and having Brotherhood and Revelations continuing on Ezio's story takes away the spotlight from Desmond's arc and it's also the reason why it ends up being kinda inconsistent.
Its my first time playing syndicate and im loving it. I've been playing all AC in order and this game is one of my favorites. I don't get why people say's is that bad ( sorry for the english, isn't my first language)
Just finished playing AC Unity and AC Syndicate, and honestly, Syndicate has way more bugs. I kept falling through the map, and some missions couldn’t be completed because they glitched out or failed for no reason. I love the London setting, but these issues kept breaking the immersion. Unity had some flaws too, but overall it ran much smoother. Anyone else experience this?
I know it is too late for this but my hot take is that AC shouldn’t have stated their origin. I love ac origins, it’s one of my favorite AC games. But limiting the scope of the history of the Assasins-Templar conflict to 36 BCE kinda negates settings that would be really cool!
Well odyssey shows that even before it was officially the assassins vs templars, their were orders that rose before and groups of people that rose to combat those orders as well. At the end of the day the only key thing needed is a group who wants to use a piece of eden to manipulate and control people and a group or just a single person trying to stop them.
23:02 I'd more or less agree with that, it is an example of 2 extremest warring over society. I feel like any time people talk about them both, that's what is brought up: which is better? Order or chaos? And the groups we discuss are ones where it is all or nothing on either order. Each ideology is optimistic in its own way, and lends itself to its own kinds of evil. To not be more obnoxiously pretentious than that, bc I know I've done that on past videos already, I'll try to keep it brief. The assassins have faith in the natural morality of mankind, but lends itself to people who could be considered a danger to the public (the short version is what's discussed in previous vids on this channel like the one abt being mentally disturbed to be an assassin). The templars put their faith in the rulers/those in power, and quite clearly and simply lends itself to the greedy and power hungry as is seen in most antagonists throughout the series. So it becomes the question of which would be the better world to live in: one of absolute anarchy, or of totalitarian rule?
i think that the animus control panel or animus training simulations should return. its a perfect way to have chalanges, arenas and minigmames in the game without actually having to build arenas or valkirie statues ans probably more lore friendlly. it also allows for a infinitude of game modes (colect the flag, parkour race, combat chalanges, hoard mode, stealth chalanges, range chalanges...) and you probably could use that sistem to mod those chalanges. beeing able to costumize the location of the obstacles of a race, ad animus blocks with preset handholders (like the blocks you clim on ac2 the truth, with the red and holders ,stairs and poles to vault over) or even had specific in game architecture (from all games) as obstacles on that race. ( something that would look like ac valhallas glitches, were you use the architecture and simulation blocks to reach a goal. you could create you own combat experience by deciding what enemies you want to fight, type, faction and amount. what hazards you want on your arena, what gear, what optional objectives. basically, you know how in each arena chalange in origins the arena is the same but the traps, spikes and stuff change? that coupled with ac valhallas valkyrie chalange. ad the thinks you want at your own will. and then share levels and have online leaderboards. its the perfect way to have chalanges that require high mastery of the games sistem. using the animus training as e excuse you can do anything. no need to get arenas, no need for glitches, no need for drugs, no need for isu valkyries... and bether. it could be implemented directlly into ac infinity for free, using accets of games you have played and that would make ac infinity feel like a true animus hub
I don't know if it's controversial opinion, but I think it's true - Eivor is overhated character and most of AC fans hate her only because she refused to join Hidden Ones Of course, she is not as good as Bayek or Ezio, but she is way better than Connor or Frye Twins, she has good moments in her story during the whole Valhalla saga Oh, and also another one, if we are already speaking about Frye Twins - Jacob is 10x better than Evie as a person He is trying to actually do something instead of daydreming about PoEs like Evie does most of the story And then there's blaiming Jacob for everything bad that happens in the whole London by Evie, because she is too lazy to help him and prefers to criticize him instead
I think the same, but about male Eivor. I know female Eivor is canon but male Eivor's voice acting was so much better, and I think he should've been canon. His voice acting together with Darby's writing isn't respected enough. So yeah, definitely overhated for sure. Overall it's been so easy for fans to hate everything about Valhalla I guess. Flawed? Yes, like 99.999% of games. Absolute unredeemable disaster? I don't think so.
@TheSpaniardAssassin Its different for each game. Its either the lack of a good story, repetivie mission, or that it just doesnt "click" the way some games just do
Of cource he would. But they aren't remaking it for no reason or just Skull and Bones assets. They know we loved it, loved Edward and that's very marketable. I say there's a chance we see more of Edward apart from BF story in the future. If they could come up in the story, since Pirate Golden Age and Edward's main struggle was 90% explored already.
Hahaha on the first hot take when you were listing “other worlders” other than USA and you flashed up South America you also didn’t mention Canada, I love ac3 and I hate America lol great story by the way 😂😂
I disagree that auto-fail tailing missions are a bad thing. The game is supposed to be about reliving an assassin's memories, and getting detected while tailing a target wouldn't be in sync with how the assassin behaved. It's like saying the game shouldn't fail you for killing civilians. I feel like better checkpointing would resolve a lot of the frustration those missions generate.
after 84 years the video is finally out! thanks again for 10,000 subscribers
Closer to 20,000 now 👏
all the luck to you man such fantastic work and such an engaging channel
Hehe 84 years😂 Titanic❤
The story is better than saying you had bad time management lol
hahah I agree
@@oklywright8886 beautifully said
About the complexity of Unity's maths in the parkour: I'm studying game dev rn, with maths as a module.
Yoo where did you get the source code from? Can you send me the link?
I feel so bad for whoever had to break their neck trying to figure out how to code Unity. Also, if you still have the code for AC Syndicate, I'd be very interested to see it (altairstealth1@gmail.com).
sadly, our opinion as consumers is also correct. the programmers were not at fault, it was ubisofts poisoning influence over the game.
As a Ezio glazer myself I’d love a video of you breaking down the writing flaws you were talking about for Ezio.
I would love to talk about that.
@ can’t wait if u indeed decide to make it
I think one of the best things syndicate did, was making the outfits fit in with what civilians would wear back then.
The whole thing about the cost and consequences of freedom really hook's me
it has a very interesting argument
Agreed, I thought it was really cool that we got to see the revolution though the POV of Connor, who was someone not very much familiar with the world outside of the Frontier Wilderness.
Yeah I felt that 🐺🐺🐺 sigma 💀
ok bro
Jesus Christ I'm happy you both are alive, what the hell
No fr
I love these longer discussion kind of videos, as I said in my comment on the first one they give me this chill vibe and I can relax for 30 minutes listening to your and other people's opinions about my favorite video game series. You should definitely do more parts.
Glad to hear that, we'll definitely keep making more.
God didn't want you to succeed and yet you(two) delivered a good video as always
lets hope lightning doesn't strike
I also love tailing missions. It's basically the game requiring that you get good at fast stealth, which is the whole appeal of this franchise to me anyway, while adding a layer of harmony with the setting, making you feel like you're really tracking and hunting your targets down to learn information.
There's something ultra satisfying about stalking someone from the rooftops just behind them, I feel like historical Batman
thanks for standing up for ac3 it is among top favourite games
If Bayek had a trilogy then he could rival Ezio for most beloved main protagonist in the series.
Bayek, Edward, and Arno are the 3 protagonists that got left behind when they absolutely deserved sequels.
Ubisoft needs to make more sequels
@@ProperlyGaming Edward is the protagonist I wanted a sequel with the most and Arno should have had a crossover with Shay. Plus I heard fans mention Connor needing a sequel as well and a sequel with Basim working with Hytham could be interesting.
@@TheSpaniardAssassin Agreed. It's been way too long since there has been one.
@@ProperlyGaming Actually maybe controversial, but I think Edwards Story has exactly the right length. But I would love to see an Haythem game where you see the End of Edwards story from an outside perspective (especially if it is handled like the book about haythem). I wholeheartedly agree with the other two.
I genuinely cannot express enough how hyped I was when saw the notification. This has been my favourite type of AC (or any) content, huge GG!
Thanks bro, so glad to hear that
Hahahaha damn had given up hope that this video was ever going to come out, and I see you decided to copy my broken laptop excuse. Good choice.
Thanks for the shout-out and the pleasant disagreement. I am satisfied.
haha yes it was a very good one ;)
this is crazy I was thinking about the last unpopular opinions just before this releases
mind reader
Great takes on tailing missions. I would also add not combining tailing missions with eavesdropping since it really limits the amount of space you are allowed to be from the target(s) as you follow them. Just leave it as keep them within your sight without being seen. Also don't have it be places where it's too dark to see like Charles-Towne at night in AC 4 nor make the tailing mission too long like following the guard with the Apple of Eden in AC 2.
Agreed
Yall deserve way more subs this is a amazing video I'm happy to have found this channel
Glad you enjoy it! welcome aboard
2:53 thats actually so cursed hahah
glad you’re both alright
thank you
2) hillelhadi5844 isn't the only person who loves tailing missions, we're 2. Yes, that includes IV, largely because tailing missions are executed the best there. It makes me feel like an actual assassin, like a stealth protagonist working his way towards his spycraft goals while proactively ditching detection and executing their parkour prowess. I hope I'll see more in the future despite community backlash.
Never understood the hate Tailing missions get, I personally love them, We don’t always have to kill people sometimes just have to gather information
@@thesilentassassin1167 my point exactly bro, nickname checks out
Glad to hear you guys made it through the awful storm. My wife showed me the pictures and videos and I was shocked at how bad it was.
It was awful, we feel very lucky to be okay!
4:00 I would say that as an American that the reason I like AC3 so much is because it has an indigenous protagonist. If Connor was white, this story would have no purpose.
I agree, he's not one of my favourite protagonists in the series but Connor's role was important to making the setting interesting
thats a very fair point and i think it was a great choice
It also just makes the whole Assassin thing more compelling and logical. Minorities would just be more likely to fight for change in society. In other words, Ubisoft, Uyghur Assassin when?
As American as well, I think Connor, his tomahawk, and the fact we don't see many games historically set in America, make it awesome.
😭time sure flies
I never really interact by commenting as I'm most of the time part of "silent" part of the community, but I felt like it for once! I just wanted to say that this was a great video, as always.
Thank you for commenting! Glad you enjoyed the video
La próxima vez que vaya a bucear a Baleares buscaré mi opinión :( (eso si, muy buen video, I was eagerly waiting for it)
Jajajaja, estoy seguro de que tu opinión fue muy interesante y el fondo del mar la aprecia

I remember when I first found this channel it had 200 subs and now it has 17.4K and counting.... You manage to add unique perspective to a topic like AC that has over a decade of content with interesting takes and approaches. Man, I'm so, so happy for your success and may that success continue to grow, and most importantly, last.
Been seen you in the comment since early Altair Stealth, Love you man
@TheSpaniardAssassin Me too, man. Do you remember how much I praised your descriptions in your other channel? I'm happy The Spaniard exists because I always thought Altair Stealth had the potential to become a great analyst due to the thoughtful and interesting nature of his descriptions and when I saw the channel was picking up I was glad.
I hope so, but I don't know if there's enough they could do at this point to make it better.
More Ac games to play but could use your help. can you make a lore accurate guide on how to play ac Odyssey and ac Valhalla? Please and congratulations on the 10k subs.. well 17k
Sure thing! and thank you!
i think my hope is more in the hands of the modders than the devs for the future of ac at this point
Same
I don't even know if it's unpopular but my opinion is that not a single AC game lived up to it's potential, there are a bunch of AC games I absolutely loved but every game could have been much better, alot of the time with only minor adjustments, the only AC game I think came close is 2 but even that could have been better with a few small changes like having repeatable missions for example
I also think Bayek has easily the best voice acting in the series and I don't think it's particularly close, he's the only AC character that in my opinion has as good of a performance as the great Farcry villains Vaas and Joseph
bayek by far and a way has the best voice acting
I defo need to watch it
@@TheSpaniardAssassin I would love to hear your opinion about the video.
I know I’m a little late to the party but I got two opinions for AC:
1. I actually enjoy AC Mirages Combat, the simplicity of the controls and the small amount of mechanics makes it fun in a simplistic way, and all the little techs you can do like thrown a dagger mid-combo or parrying arrows shot at you is nice and it’s addictive to try and get and not get hit once by the mercenary that shows up when you’re at the 3rd notoriety level
My bad!
No worries! thanks for the comment :)
The sequel to Unity should've been Arno in his 30's & Connor in his 40's teaming up to take down a 60 something Shay who has become a Grand Master.
I wish London was real to, all the UK has is a big clock, a palace, a river and bridge all surrounded by a beautiful city.
so ive heard
Shadow of Mordor I played before an AC game. It was made in 2014, and holds up incredibly well. It's one of the few games that hold up to AC.
I wanna try that one
Applying that line of thinking to classic AC stealth, I think it becomes inarguable that it is pathetically weak for a series that's supposed to have stealth as one of it's pillars of gameplay.
those points are very good and agree with a lot of it tbd
(Very long analysis of AC3 incoming, feel free to skip)
AC3 is so subtle like AC1 in characterization, you actually need to pay attention to the conversations and even in which tone the characters talk, which I LOVE.
Its interesting for sure
Why did she think of Sims when Mario Maker is a better example 💀
There is no universe in which my gf knows what mario maker is
I feel very disrespected as a fellow Britain. I also felt this way in megamind.😭💀

For those who don't know, it is rumored that AC Invictus takes inspiration from Fall Guys so there should be some races or maybe other competitions or challenges that involve parkour as well as assassinations probably.
ac invictus has me nervous
@ fair point. seems to me that with everything Ubi puts out these days, they make some people worried 😅
And just to add on, AC1's vaulting mechanic seemed cool, being able to vault off of a ledge or over a beam above ground is cool to do, I wish it was added later games.
it's been a while since ive seen any ac content, but holy shit i forgot how gorgeous origins is

There are a lot more reasons I have, but these are my main ones.
it was my first too!
@@TheSpaniardAssassin Nice.
3:35 as a german, i kinda like the setting, but its really more Connor and the conclusion of the Desmond storyline. I love AC3, but it could have been so much more...
It was my first ac!
@@TheSpaniardAssassin That must've been confusing! Although, AC Origins was my first
@@TheSpaniardAssassin mine as well! And made me fell in love with the series, see my comment about that
17k. Well deserved. Wish you the gold play button
Fingers crossed!
Having narrative choices in the RPG games doesn’t make sense, we aren’t these ancient people were watching their lives
I loved ac3. Everything about it. It was such a charming game it had a unique vibe. Building the homestead was awesome, the fighting was satisfying and the world was massive.
Edit: it felt massive
It was a bug step up tech wise
Another W as always
here we are
Spaniard drop get me going in the morning

We don't deserve such a good AC TH-camr😭
AC Rogue would have been better with Haytham as the protagonist, and Shay would have been amazing for a game where the protagonist neither followed the assassins nor the templars but instead made his own creed fighting for what he believed that the assassins should have done.
So I was actually playing AC 3 when it was coming out, during middle school as I was learning about the Revolutionary War. And my teacher would ask how I knew the answers to certain questions and I'd answer "assassin's creed" And he'd roll his eyes
He was a super chill teacher. A younger dude teaching history and bantering about half life with us nerds lol
Anything that gets kids interested in history is a W
AC3 was not great at the time but aged well overtime. Playing it now in remaster I appreciate the story, Connor and the open world a lot more than I did playing it alongside Black flag and Rogue
its aged very well
i wish badly i had known about this prior and try and get my thoughts in there but i guess i just shouldve expected it still an amazing video
I'll probably do another one in a couple of months
my hot take is probably that origins has better music atmospherically then ac 2 or any other game in the franchise idk if this is unpopular but its just such a good soundtrack
I'm sorry, but we (Poles) are also learning AC3 setting in school. And personally I also agree that Connor is absolute badass. But it still doesn't change that the game itself and it's plot aren't that great.
oh what a random thing!
@@TheSpaniardAssassin Which one? Lol
To your point about catering to hardcore players, I miss the control and precision required by the old games for parkour and movement in general
@TheSpaniardAssassin oh, absolutely, me too!
i love tailing missions in assassins creed 4 because you can do it why eating your food
LMAO
What mod allows you to use that Syndicate running animation in Unity? (or is it a Syndicate mod with Unity map?)
sorry?
Prince of Persia and AC are both from IRAN and its Indo European culture and language, the MAIN AC castle is still inside Iran, sure the Mongols destroyed it, but its there.
and Persia and Media and Parthia were all Iranic people who migrated from Europe to Iran to build their empire.
There are many Persian words that are the same as english, No other European country has that much.
Example:
mother= madar, brother=baradar, daughter= dochtar, father= pedar, thunder= tondar, door= dar, mourge= marg, typhoon= toofan, and much more, Also Paradise is a persian word that is called pardis meaning garden.
I love tailing missions too 😂 but yes in moderations. I like the idea that I’m a ghost and that the target has been in danger for the whole time, but my character is disciplined and patient as to not kill but gather info
It definitely helps immersion, if it's not overdone
@ love your vids so much btw! U bring a maturity and film critique vibe to assassins creed, I love it 🤙
Don't disrespect God (iwj) 0:57

I never knew you liked valhallas story. I actually agree though I liked it too
Yeah i think its dope
23:02 Spoiler Warning: This is actually true and an AC Valhalla comic confirms it, where one of the protagonist's who was training to be an Assassin but comes to a realization tells Hytham after that the Hidden one and Order of Ancient are not so different, that they would always find a way to kill. To which Hytham responds with "We have been fighting the order for centuries."
Which the protagonist (Niels" replies with " Thats the problem Hytham, if your path was true you would have won a long time ago. A thousand years from now, you would still be fighting"
thats deep dude
I think I know where the last guy is coming from because there's a So Says Jay video that kinda shares that idea, which is basically that AC2's open ending was meant to lead into AC3, much like AC1 open ending lead into AC2. The point being that this was supposed to be Desmond's trilogy, with each game being a little window into the ancestor's life but only so much to inform Desmond as a character, and having Brotherhood and Revelations continuing on Ezio's story takes away the spotlight from Desmond's arc and it's also the reason why it ends up being kinda inconsistent.
I see, I get that
Its my first time playing syndicate and im loving it. I've been playing all AC in order and this game is one of my favorites. I don't get why people say's is that bad ( sorry for the english, isn't my first language)
I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Are you excited for ac shadow??love your channel btw love from india 🇮🇳
Yes I am!
Thank the lord bro and his girl are still alive🙏
thank you dude
I know it is too late for this but my hot take is that AC shouldn’t have stated their origin. I love ac origins, it’s one of my favorite AC games. But limiting the scope of the history of the Assasins-Templar conflict to 36 BCE kinda negates settings that would be really cool!
Well odyssey shows that even before it was officially the assassins vs templars, their were orders that rose before and groups of people that rose to combat those orders as well. At the end of the day the only key thing needed is a group who wants to use a piece of eden to manipulate and control people and a group or just a single person trying to stop them.
If The Spaniard played AC he would make the later games bearable
;)
Interesting analysis of the dual perspective, faith in mortality vs. faith in rulers
8:35 Now that AC4 is remade: Who knows? Although i really dont wanna see an RPG or Mirage style Haytham
Please no
i think that the animus control panel or animus training simulations should return. its a perfect way to have chalanges, arenas and minigmames in the game without actually having to build arenas or valkirie statues ans probably more lore friendlly.
it also allows for a infinitude of game modes (colect the flag, parkour race, combat chalanges, hoard mode, stealth chalanges, range chalanges...) and you probably could use that sistem to mod those chalanges.
beeing able to costumize the location of the obstacles of a race, ad animus blocks with preset handholders (like the blocks you clim on ac2 the truth, with the red and holders ,stairs and poles to vault over) or even had specific in game architecture (from all games) as obstacles on that race.
That'd be sick
I don't know if it's controversial opinion, but I think it's true - Eivor is overhated character and most of AC fans hate her only because she refused to join Hidden Ones
Of course, she is not as good as Bayek or Ezio, but she is way better than Connor or Frye Twins, she has good moments in her story during the whole Valhalla saga
Oh, and also another one, if we are already speaking about Frye Twins - Jacob is 10x better than Evie as a person
He is trying to actually do something instead of daydreming about PoEs like Evie does most of the story
And then there's blaiming Jacob for everything bad that happens in the whole London by Evie, because she is too lazy to help him and prefers to criticize him instead
The worst opinion anyone can have on Assassin's Creed is to say that the series is not ontologically cool.
facts
Not my friend writing the music for syndicate 👀
i can never get into an ac game. I keep seeing a game that looks fun, then i try it and i fall off again
what gets you off?
@TheSpaniardAssassin Its different for each game. Its either the lack of a good story, repetivie mission, or that it just doesnt "click" the way some games just do
10:19 I’d argue that with 3 games Edward would be The poster boy of Ubisoft.
I agree
Of cource he would. But they aren't remaking it for no reason or just Skull and Bones assets. They know we loved it, loved Edward and that's very marketable. I say there's a chance we see more of Edward apart from BF story in the future. If they could come up in the story, since Pirate Golden Age and Edward's main struggle was 90% explored already.
What moments in AC2 and Revelations do you think Ezio isn’t written well? I’m curious
mainly capidoccia, also not killing rodrigo and then murdering hundreds in the next two games

Hahah how could i forget😭
@ everyone forgets about us just quietly chilling up here 😂😂😂
I disagree that auto-fail tailing missions are a bad thing. The game is supposed to be about reliving an assassin's memories, and getting detected while tailing a target wouldn't be in sync with how the assassin behaved. It's like saying the game shouldn't fail you for killing civilians.
I feel like better checkpointing would resolve a lot of the frustration those missions generate.
yeah better checkpointing also works
