As a way to thank you for reaching 1,000 subs so fast, I decided to make you all want to unsubscribe. My girlfriend and I sit down to analyse, rate, and roast some of the more unpopular opinions fans have sent regarding Assassin's creed. This is all tongue in cheek so don't take anything I say too seriously. Let's hope this is the beginning of a wonderful journey together!
Assassin's Creed is an open-world, action-adventure, and stealth game franchise published by Ubisoft and developed mainly by its studio Ubisoft Montreal using the game engine Anvil and its more advanced derivatives. Created by Patrice Désilets, Jade Raymond, and Corey May, the Assassin's Creed video game series depicts a fictional millennia-old struggle between the Order of Assassins, who fight for peace and free will, and the Knights Templar, who desire peace through order and control. The series features historical fiction, science fiction, and fictional characters intertwined with real-world historical events and historical figures. In most games, players control a historical Assassin while also playing as an Assassin Initiate or someone caught in the Assassin-Templar conflict in the present-day framing story. Considered a spiritual successor to the Prince of Persia series, Assassin's Creed took inspiration from the novel Alamut by the Slovenian writer Vladimir Bartol, based on the historical Hashashin sect of the medieval Middle East.

I'll have to disagree about the modern day. I've never liked it. The trailers make me want the time periods. Third Crusade, Italian Renaissance, Revolutionary War, Golden Age of Piracy, the games were always about being an assassin or hooded figure running around to help people and be a total badass through time. Desmond is fun, but the animus kills me every time it takes me away from the time period and character we have to gain knowledge from.
i personally feel like the modern day feeds in to the narrative and lore in a way thats making me more interested in the ac universe as a whole and fleshes out what the time period has to offer and makes the in animus segments feel like it has consequenses and a reason to be explored.@@ac_nerd9794
hello :)
are you working on this channel or do you have another job?
also have you played ac3 dlc? the dlc was full of magic bloat it was a huge example of what was to come you probably should get ac3 remastered so you can actually play the dlc trust me just play the dlc and then youll understand why its counted as the fall of assassins creed
Your very underrated
"Feeling like I'm forming a bond with you guys, so what better way to celebrate than to break that bond" banger of an opening line
😂😂
Watch Dogs Legion w/AC DLC character is the closest we are EVER GONNA GET to a Modern Day setting...😅
Or even a futuristic one.
Don't need a modern setting. In AC Brotherhood, you can unlock Miles's outfit and run around Rome in jeans and a backpack. Besides, an assassin with the abilities of these games, he wouldn't survive against modern electronic intel. He'd be seen coming from miles away. Heat vision, motion detection, satellite surveillance, etc. Better play Splinter Cell.
My hot take is that Shay's character is really well written. I think it's interesting that he doesn't seem to care much about the philosophy of either faction, but instead he seems more focused on stopping the Assassins from messing with Isu temples. Shay feels immense guilt about killing targets, an example is his remore from killing Lawrence Washington, and has an optimistic view on people, an example is that he tells Haytham that Adewale is saving his crew while Haytham believes Ade just wants a last stand. I also think it's worth noting that the Brotherhood poisoning civilians is never proven, and the Templars could have falsified this to point Shay in the right direction. On a final note after Liam's death Shay sees both Achilles and Haytham as enemies.
One of my fav characters and I’ve played since 2007 lol
Yeah, tend to agree. The only thing that really bothered me is his fucking coin phrase "OI MAKE ME OWN LUCK"
@@alixundr9519I actually liked that phrase ngl
I don't think this is a hot take, but all the AC Chronicles games deserve/need to be made into a full-main series title
I agree
That's an underrated take, not a hot take, cause I've only see a few people talk about or even mention the Chronicles trilogy.
@@s0daapoppin because they're side-scroller platform stealth games. Its niche on top of niche, I almost didn't play them because I just don't enjoy 2d platformers typically. Honestly I think the Chronicles games have some of the best characters and settings. China especially has some of the best executed stealth in the franchise. Those games are so underrated and I'd die a happy man if I could play any of the three as a fully realized AC game. They're genuinely amazing and the only thing I think is holding them back is that its a kind of game so many people I've talked to just don't enjoy
Id play Chronicles China as a full game
I agree. Should have been given that instead of shadows.
I wish Altair was mentioned more in the AC games, after AC Revelations, he was sorta just forgotten within the games.
Same dude
My hot take is that Ezio shouldn't have been the poster boy of Assassin's Creed and I believe that characters like Altair and Basim are better fits for it because they embody this series better. Altair embodies the Creed and his journey embodies the idealistic flaws of the Creed perfectly in a way that no other character ever has. Basim quite literally is the physical embodiment of Assassin's Creed since he has ties to every aspect of AC. He's the only character who is an Isu Sage, a Master Assassin and also a modern day character.
i think bayek should have taken over ezio in this new era of AC
@@TheSpaniardAssassin FAKTS BRUH😅😅
Bayek is the first and best assassin. Amazing game. My favorite by far. Saved the franchise.
That last statement about Basim also applies to Mirage's gameplay.
Altair is the blandest character ever. It is so obvious ubisoft focused on creating the world and altair has literally no character beyond being an assassin. Ezio deserves the reputation he has and bitter people like you can keep seething and coping
I feel like AC2 and Black Flag are the two games that you can argue are as great as the best games outside of the AC franchise.
I agree with u
Both ac2 and acb are my top 2 favourite games oat so I can agree
@@BananaPubez23 valid, mine is black flag at number 1 for sure
@@UserNot_Known fair enough that is a great game and I see why people like it I just didn’t enjoy as much as the entries before it excluding 3
@@UserNot_Knowndefinitely not AC2 when you're looking at the writing for the story...
honestly, my ideal ac setting is the Siege of Vienna. the idea of either being in the heavily fortified city of Vienna or the warzone outside while having to deal with both the Ottoman and Austrians would be really interesting (also a Winged Hussar outfit would be fire) (Emu war would also be ideal)
that is a great suggestion. my dream time period is something they brushed over in the intro of unity. imagine late mideival france during the 100year war between england and france and tying in joan of arc and sword in the stone as a piece of eden (wich the sword of eden might be in unity) into the ac lore and templars and assassins struggle. its almost perfect for ac. joan of arc was a teenage girl who lived in poverty, somehow she managed to defy the times and become an army general in the 1400s, she also claimed to have been guided by the archangel michael, saint margret, and saint catherine wich could in ac be the isu.
That sounds cool asf, me personally i think we need a game with thomas de carnelion as the mc, cause his outfit was cool asf and theres so much mystery around his character in ac unity that i feel needs explaining. Also on the topic of ac unity there was a missed oportunity for a sequel, or a big dlc with an alternate universe like the tyrany of king washington, where arno goes back to napoleon after getting kicked out from the brotherhood and goes with the grande armée, taking down important templars behind enemy lines, both aiding the assasins on an international scale and napoleon, would also allow for arno to interact with lots of other assasin brotherhoods, like the austrian, polish, prussian/german russian, ottoman etc, would be cool asf but would probably need its own entire game from how much there is to explore with the concept
I remember those days... sausages everywhere
My “hot take” is that the legacy outfit for Ezio should be his outfit from revelations. His first outfit was from Giovanni and his second was gifted from Machiavelli. Also his brotherhood outfit is used by the assassin recruits so it’s definitely not the outfit that is his.
That's kind of my hot take about Outfits in the series, I think his Brotherhood robes are overrated and I much prefer his AC2 and Revelations robes, not only are they stylish but also practical at stealth.
@@deepflare1028 I think that that is my actual hot take; that Ezio’s brotherhood robes aren’t that good. To me they’re too plain. And not in a good way like Altair’s robes. Ezio’s brotherhood robes are just too boring.
Haytham is my favorite character from AC3 so I like how much time we get to play as him.
yeah hes amazing
I think Ratonhnhaké:ton is the most underrated assassin, and many do not see that Haytham and Connor complement each other. The reason many don't understand Ratonhnhaké:ton is because contrary to many media where we're exposed to a world through someone like us (with a Western education), Ratonhnhaké:ton is very different from us, grew up with a different mentality than the world we're used to. And... Ubisoft did him a disservice by not including his last speech in the game... as it showed that he has grown
Do we really need more of his life tho, we saw him as a child in AC4 , as an Adult in Rogue and we spend a good chunk of three playing as his older self, not to mention we have his diary , so there really isnt much left of his life left to unpack.
he's a great character but we dont have enough material to base an entire game off him
Not gonna go into too much detail but today was a rough day for me, like really rough. Day definitely brightened seeing my comment brought up and talked about, adore the AC community and this channel specifically for really diving in deep for the philosophy of the franchise.
Im sorry to hear that bro, im so glad i could help. i hope everything gets better soon
We're rooting for your, brother.
I hope your week perked up. I feel for you dude. I'm struggling atm too.
Hot take: Rouge had a great idea but ubisoft took a blank route by just making Assassin's bad Templars goods. It could have been much more
I agree w u
It could have been so much more by changing the protagonist with Haytham instead of Shay. Tell the backstory of why he would become a Templar. Yeah, I know it's on a book called, but not everyone read a book from the game franchise...
ROGUE
@@imamfn If not Haytham, could have maybe shown why templars is a better side or how there motives are more practical, but nope we will just show Assassins as the di**heads.
That's a could take
There should be a game with basim, Rebecca and Shaun trying to get Desmond and Layla back or at least a modern day segment
Would be fun af
It would
I'd be down for Desmond's return
The modern-day stuff has always been my favorite parts of the game. There need to be more modern-day sections like AC3 and Odyssey as well as the end of Valhalla when we see Desmond again.
My late hot take is that Connor kenway is my favorite protagonist so plz don’t make fun of me :(((
Thats cool!
I really like Connor he just suffered from being placed after Ezio and people just called him boring rather than recognising that he's a completely different character
What made you like him?
I've seen a lot of people lament what kind of games we've lost, but shouldn't we stop feeling this sorry for ourselves? Ubisoft is trying to fix things, they just get the message mixed up.
fanbase is too big and too divided i think
@@TheSpaniardAssassinTrue. Though I have confidence in them
@@TheSpaniardAssassin And ubisoft just made it worse by trying to please both groups at the same time. They could've created a whole new IP with games like odyssey and valhalla and then give us a trilogy with bayek with a better stealth for each game
@@TheSpaniardAssassin First I agree, but I will also take this opportunity to adress the second opinon you gave about AC games vs regular games, I am a professional game analyst, and most people are wrong roasting AC games, people think AC games is kind of a genre ora single group therefore expectation of that is flawed, AC games are meant to be different from each other, by design, each time period and ideology start different and then protagonist find or stray from the nothing is true everything is permited ideology, this in inside the game design as well but peoples expectations of what the games should be are always the same, from a technical and design perspective they are completely fine, they are meant to defy the concept of a saga and to present a different side of the story on each game, now aside from that the execution on each game has only suffered in around 3 or 4 games that is not an AC thing but different teams, time constrains and mechanics can have that effect specially in such a big franchise, this is also accompanied by the fact that ubisoft is one of the only triple A companies not afraid to take big risks.
the story of why people are more critic about ubi comes from watch dogs, I have even given lectures about how exxagerated people became after that game came out and given examples of contemporary games that had similar flaws but where from that point on antagonized against ubi, that and the huge success of ezio as a character made decisions afterwards stand out like a sore thumb and be exagerated further, this is why I agree that the community is divided, also food for thought and a fun fact, the community is big and it is divived because games have change in their genre and archetype, those changes are by design but audiences that only lean to one or the other dont seem to notice that franchises can and in my opinion should explore such tendencies (mario has been doing it since forever but since is a less mature oriented franchise people just dont see it...).
So just to wrap up, saying AC games are bad is completely wrong is a wrong but popular statement that comes from just poorly placed misunderstood concepts of general knowledge of game design.
@@Roberrrrt103 fully agree with you, I suggest odyssey and valhalla had time to be polished, and be sent into a different timeline or universe, not many would complain, and we would have a good games
The AC Origins and Odyssey era was the time I was the biggest AC fan. I played some of the earlier games but I only really picked them up when they were on sale but never finished them. The shift to an RPG focus and the settings of Egypt and Greece is what really did it for me
Those games were classics to many people, i love origins
I seriously recommend finishing them. The story imo os very well executed. If the xp part is annoying, do the light blue missions and main quests if you wanna focus on story. I 100% ac oddesey and enjoyed the entire process, that's my favorite game of the rpg series
Playing origins between ac 1 and 2 is a good order bc it gives more context to who the brotherhood or hidden ones are and how they started
thats a fun way to do it
For me,
AC Valhalla should've made a DLC about eivor joining the templars instead of Assassins.
I mean she indirectly did help Alfred, then why not join him completely.
She didnt join the assassins
@@TheSpaniardAssassin I know she remained neutral, but still. It would be much more awesome if she did that.
Haytham and Connor dynamic was insane in AC3 and Haytham almost cost the same love I have for Ezio. Overall the Kenway series was top tier and the best thing to happen to the series after the Ezio trilogy
I think they applied nuance to the templars much better with haytham than they did in rogue where they just kinda reversed the roles and made it assassins bad templars good rather than having interesting characters on both sides
Modern Day WAS nice because of Desmond and these missions in AC 3 were the Goat
It's crazy to see that both of my takes made it. It is an honor!! My first take was mainly about the ac games compared to one another. Definitely not compared to other games like rdr2 or elden ring. And the second one is fair to me valhalla was a okay ac game and odyssey was okay as well (My opinion). They build more of the lore of the ac universe and i appreciate having a better understanding of it now. Also happy 2k keep up the amazing work!!
Thanks dude! And thanks for commenting too
@@TheSpaniardAssassinOoh of course it was fun to see the roasts! U have also inspired me to make my own ac lore channel!!
i think its really fun that you got to understand the ac lore a bit better and enjoy it more and ac oddysey is an incredible open world action adventure game but i also think that it changes the fundamentals of the lore established in ac 1. that is why i think that oddysey isnt "a good ac game". and it will be fun to hear what you have to say on your yt channel. its always fun to hear other peoples perspective on things, im rooting for you:)
@tozkal96 Thanks, I really appreciate it!! And I respect your opinion, and ya, it definitely is rocky when it comes to ac lore, but I want to give a shot!!
I started with odyssey as well because it was such an interesting time period and had no prior knowledge of the series
You should definitely make a part 2 of this in your next subscriber milestone. The way this was done is very unique to me. Your commentary or 'roasts" you've given were very thoughtful. And I like how your gf sort of interviewed you throughout the course of the video, adopting the devil's advocate with her questions/commentary.
I think we can all agree the main problem with the franchise is Ubisoft
This video felt fun and wholesome! 17:47 as someone who has been a fan of AC since PoP and also enjoys the RPGs, this question and response explains the 2 sides of the AC community perfectly.
so glad you enjoyed it! and yeah the back and forth was so fun
I think a AC WW2 game set in the Pacific Theater would much better than the European Theater. Because the Japanese kind of still used Bayonets and Katanas during the war, so you can still keep melee combat while also implementing gun combat in a WW2 setting.
thats such an original idea
@@TheSpaniardAssassin I think a WW2 setting in the Pacific Theater is a cool setting to go to, because its a part of WW2 that games don’t usually think of when being set in WW2. Maybe a Nazi occupied Paris would work, but the Saboteur already done that, or maybe it could explore the Eastern Front of the European Theater with the Germans invading Poland and Russia after that. There is also Fascist Italy, but you would barely do anything because the Italians did nothing. But those are all of my opinions honestly. What do you think?
Idk about you but I think a Vietnam war setting could work for AC maybe playing as vietkong?
its cool but i dont like the whole 'japanese army used bayonettes' as a reason for the game to be melee focused. Like literllay every other nation used baynoettes. Its not a nit pick worthy reason @@IvanessenceOurLordAndSavior
I think one set in Finland in the midst of WW2 would be real interesting. They were stuck between a rock and a hard place and had to ally themselves with Germany in the beginning as Soviet invades, but then they fight the Nazis near the end of the war as everything went to hell. That scenario is rife for opportunities to inject some delicious Assassin vs Templar conspiracy into.
This location and period (Winter War, Continuation War, to Lapland War) would have plenty of opportunities to display legendary figures like Hitler, Stalin, and the "White Death" Simo Häyhä (highest sniper kill in any major war) could be a mentor figure.
I think an open world such as AC3 with some amount of big cities and one massive wilderness would work the best. With Helsinki and maybe even let the player visit Moscow; if they're being ambitious, include Berlin as well.
I love ac odyssey
Same its my favourite game atm that'll probably change when I've played origins but we'll see
Ditto. Ive played every AC game, and Odyssey is my favorite one of the modern era. Greece is a beautiful world. The merc background leads to fun stuff in the world. Kassandra is one of my favorite characters in the series. Replaying it right now before I finally commit to Valhalla and Mirage before Shadows
Same!
Like what does he have against it. It’s a great game and even better if you know Greek mythology
@@brysonlineberger2650it’s a great game but it isn’t an AC game, it doesn’t embody the assassins creed the way an AC game should
Hot take, untiy doesn’t have the best parkour. Visually it’s appealing, but it lacks a lot of precise movement, and has an AI that try’s to figure out what your doing so it can play the proper animation. It doesn’t feel as fluid as it could be.
Agreed. Unity's parkour is just smooth but when you really pay attention, it lacks details. I feel like earlier AC games like Ac
C1 and Ezio trilogy had the best parkiur. It was slow and lacked smoothness but was extremely precise, you could actually see the characters grab onto each individual ledge.
you seem so knowledgeable about the series. really enjoyed hearing your thought process.
Glad you enjoyed it!
AC 1 was the first open world game i ever tried where i said "holy shit, this is next generation" to this day one of my favourite AC games of all time (can´t beat AC brotherhood in my book, i love that game). Just found your channel! so happy to have a dedicated AC channel FINALLY, you got a new subscriber and from Spain too! (Sevilla). Saludos crack!!
its a classic. Y saludos!!
The guy talking about AC 3 main theme is talking about the music, and I agree that it’s very underrated! Such a powerful and good melody!
You should definitely make more videos like this one, or even a part 2, cause I enjoyed every second of it. It gave me a chill vibe and we agree on most of the opinions, you just earned a new sub, keep up with the great vids.
Hot take: an ac game w guns in modern day would just be like hitman 3 or prolly worse. Point is, ubisoft couldnt pull it off and it would always be overshadowed by hitman 3 for example.
they kinda did with watch dogs though
16:56 my two part hot take is that watch dogs is literally modern day AC. One of the main Narrative themes of that game is that technology and innovation have allowed many more organizations to try their hands at controlling the populace and starting problems, (therefore, the Templars are no longer the only good/bad boys, or even the biggest). the first two "watch dogs" games are awesome.
14:15 i think when ppl think about “ac with guns” they’re thinking about automatic and semiautomatic guns. all the guns in ac so far require reloading between each shot if i remember correctly, so that would make quite a difference in gameplay
AC with guns is Watch Dogs. And since they're in the same universe (there is a tie-in between AC3 and WD that I won't spoil) having a true modern game where you have an assassin hacker would be insane.
This reminds me of how I make my runs on AC and voice my opinions while my girlfriend sits there and takes in my rants 😂, absolutely love this one, all n all good vid.
Lmao😂 thats love right there
Connor is my favorite assassin AC three is probably my favorite game. So I’ve only played three and four so far. I think when I do get the rogue It will be my favorite assassin speed game because it takes the settings of assassin‘s creed three and the ship combat of assassin’s creed four and put them together!
Edit: what I really want is a American Civil War/manifest destiny focusing on either Connor or his descendant and have the characters grapple with especially Connor have him grapple with the realization that Johnson was right. I wonder which side he would choose or would his descendent decide to take up arms against America.
My hot take is that the leveling made the games so much more grindy and less fun.
38:25 This resonates with me. When I get a friend of mine into the series I'm happy at first that they're trying out the games. I later feel bad about it because if they become as big a fan as I am, disappointment is down the road.
man i really like your vids, for a long time i hadnt found such a good assassins creed youtuber, greetings from poland
Hey, thanks! That means a lot
So I feel like AC 3 was meant for people interested in the American revolution because when you understand the revolution in depth, the story becomes so so so incredibly interesting and all of the themes hit so much harder, the ideological conflict becomes so incredibly interesting you just can’t look at the game the same way agagin
As someone who is not from the US nor interested in the revolution, I didn't even know what was going on half the time. It's really hard to be invested while getting whiplash from random time skips, allegiance shifts and stuff just happening. I think no other AC requires you to know the history beforehand to actually enjoy what's happening.
@@sgtkumpel fair enough, but it hits so much harder when u understand it, if you ever do learn about the revolution go back and replay it and u will just be shocked, unfortunately only the people who understand it will find it interesting though which is really annoying, cause everyone should be able to enjoy it the way us nerds do lol
@@Scarecr0w424 I just re-read my comment and I didn't mean for it to sound too negative, I was just agreeing with your first statement. I think AC3 is for those interested in the revolution, but even more so you actually have to have some basic understanding of what's happening during it beforehand or you will be lost and based on your pre-existing knowledge it can greatly change your experience, more so than any other AC, I think.
@@sgtkumpel I don’t disagree with what you said lol, I think it’s unfortunate that people without the prior knowledge have to put up with the storyline being boring but at the same time when you do understand it the story is incredibly
I agree with the no bad AC games. I've been playing AC since day one back in 2007. And i have never been disappointed by an AC game.
Great video, I had lots of fun hearing it. As I've always said to you, one of the things that I like the most about your channel is your insightful way of expressing yourself even when being humorous, as in this video in particular. I often struggle finding videos and articles that offer true insight and a more nuanced perspective than the general public tend to have when they make standard reviews and I find that in your channel. You, Leo K, Razbuten and a few others.... Thank you.
thank you dude, i really appreciate comments like there
AC Syndicate probably has the soundtrack out of any AC game. It feels so authentic to the era. AC Unity’s is really good, but it does sound like they made it a bit more (just slightly) modern. Or at least added a modern “flavor” into it. They made it more like a movie soundtrack. Like all the AC games, except for Syndicate (at least not anything that noticeable).
Even the music that randomly plays while we're just running around in London is beautiful.
Ubi cooked with syndicate's music and Evie's drip🙏🔥
Odyssey was a great game
I’m 15 and my first ac game was odyssey and I loved it and now I have played Valhalla, mirage and is now on syndicate and I love all the games. I’m on a little quest to go back tru time and see the games I missed out on😢
This kind of video was so needed for me, (now I finished the video) thanks for doing it
Glad you liked it homie!
I think if Ubisoft finally made a new fucking Splinter Cell, AC fans would be more open to a modern setting in Assassin's Creed where they have to use guns.
Also, probably not a hot take, but for the sake of consistency call it that: I think Bayek was Ubisoft's opportunity to create another poster boy for the franchise. His character arc, storyline, voice acting, design, everything about him was great and I desperately wanted to see more of him in future games. Unfortunately, Ubisoft hates good ideas.
This bs of AC not working with guns really gets to me. Like, my brother in Christ WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? Imagine the setting with a silenced pistol (which still makes noise btw and this could be a feature. Imagine needing to calculate your shots so you don't get compromised) and a hidden blade. This would be not only fun as fuck, it would be FUNCTIONAL as fuck.
Add knives and other melee wepons, yes you can argument that maybe those weapons would be less effective in combat but that only apply in an open world kinda of scenario where you have more than 5 enemies. There's still plenty of room for melee weapons to shine *specially* in CQC scenarios. THIS IS THE SAME COMPANY THAT MADE SPLINTER CELL FOR FUCK'S SAKE
Just give a Watch Dog hacker an assassin's training and you have a great modern day setting with existing lore.
Thank you for you agreeing with me about the modern day assassin creed game, and your comment about how new assassin creed fans only really care about historical fantasy then being a ac fan.
How I got into ac was because of history. Learning about the knights Templars and the crusades just intrigued me to learn that type of stuff, and that expanding into me learning about ancient history and then modern history when I found out there were games that was set in those time periods.
I played them and when I realised that these two certain groups that has been fighting since ancient Greece, I was intrigued, even more. instead of learning history. I found something I could be interested in and I studied it with my own time and when I found the site explained everything it lost me. And when it did I didn’t care about the story but overtime I learned to know the story.
Though my understanding and till this day am slowly learning a bit more with the story.
glad you are dude
This duo is actually so wholesome and makes it very entertaining
My dream is a modern day AC, to me the series was never the same after AC3. Desmond and his story were the overarching story of AC and I miss that. It made it special.
Basim deserves a modern day game
that would go unreasonably hard
@@TheSpaniardAssassinDude especially after the ending of Valhalla
A lot of Odyssey hate. I love Odyssey. Kassandra makes a great protagonist. Altair is really boring and although AC1 is a great proof of concept it isn't the best game. I can barely remember the story.
12:10 100% agree, Brotherhood always gets attention, and for good reason, but Revelation’s story is just next level and is the main reason I started to love Altair lol (plus The Mentor’s Return is probably up there for coolest mission in any AC game for me) Great video! 👍
Thanks dude! Glad you feel the same
Desmond had a silenced pistol in AC3 and it worked
when I was younger, I played AC without understanding a word cuz its not my native lang. so for one that enjoys the game for the playing time only, I didnt like the modern day too. but when I grew up and started to like cutcenes and the story no less than the gameplay itself, I realized how important the modern day story is. could be another unpopular opinion of mine: I really like the modern day story of rogue (black flag's too) especially with aiden pearce involved in it...
those games have good modern day stories but i didnt like the first person
Maybe the downfall of assassin’s creed was the friends we made along the way
My hot take: the rpg games could work as side stories or dlc for a mainline game. Almost like an inception in the animus. Connect them to Desmond by having Bayek be an ancestor of Altair, Kassandra be an ancestor of Ezio, and Eivor be an ancestor of Connor. Obviously this wouldn’t work now but this is what should've been in my opinion.
that lightning in a bottle observation is the truest shit i've heard this year so far
"not caring about the modern day is like reading LOTR and not caring about the ring" what a beautiful quote.. well said hahaha
The comment about AC3 and it story compared to the theme of it was absolutely spot on and wish one day to get a game with the same theme of clashing ideals would truly eat that up.
as someone who also is in their 20s and started with odyssey. the core gameplay of stealth and taking out bases drew me in. when i head about ac i knew exactly what it was. first tried brotherhood but never fully played it. but ac odyssey pushed me to go back and see the “glory days” everyone was talking about. and ac 2 and unity became my favorites through that. so id say i’m actually lucky odyssey came out when it did so i could i get into and play the older ones

@@TheSpaniardAssassin ac2 - revalations is god level gaming fr. i know y’all as altair fans will say this is blasphemous but i don’t have the same level of attachment to altair you guys have because there’s no way to play the og game on ps4. i got all my love for altair through revelations and i honestly NEED to play ac1 at some point bc of how ac2 is my favorite game in the series now
I think Aveline had the potential to be a top 3 ac protagonists but the game and the writing didn’t do her justice
First time seeing your channel and from this video I can say you are the best AC fan I have ever seen in terms of opinions, ideas and logic. would love to see Ubisoft actually use the feedback you can give.
Welcome aboard!
Its a shame I’m seeing this now but my *hot take* (not worst take) is the Arno has the cleanest assassin robe, its simple yet purposeful, not over complicated and heavy like some of the others, and the beautiful navy blue and material make it so unique.
Here's my (potentially) hot take: Origins is a better AC game, Odyssey is a better game.
Honestly that comment about "AC players not liking the idea of change/innovation" got to me because who's idea of innovation for a franchise is "make it Witcher 3 but worse"? That's legitimately the opposite of innovation especially when you consider just how innovative AC1 was when it launched, to the point we are still feeling the effects of its design to this day in games outside of AC... to call the RPG creeds innovative is just wrong
true that. i can still finish origins but it was a heartbreaking moment when "this is just a sub-par witcher 3" feeling hit me. I've played all the games since AC1, each iteration had their own experiments but still in line with the core design that i'm more than happy to go along with. had no intention to play odyssey and valhalla but I'm looking forward to play mirage
@riofredericco7147 the older AC games were back when Ubisoft was a trend setter in the industry, not the trend followers they've become.
@@brandonvanzyl7725 yea I still remember doing tower sync first time in AC back then and thought "that's a neat idea" and then tons of game start doing the same thing
@riofredericco7147 legit, even Eagle vision... like... Batman Arkham has "detective vision", the witcher has "witcher sense" all these games have this mechanic and it can be traced back to AC 1 Eagle vision
would be fun to see you make a list of like your favorite games and characters
I would love that
Your channel is amazing. You deserve every subscriber you have gotten and now I will subscribe to you. Hoping that I could have some of my AC takes in your videos in the future.
Thank you my friend!
16:33 Seeing Ezio wear the Valhalla version of his own AC2 robes is a crime.
i felt filthy doing it
I played ac 1 at release, but never got into the series. Played black flag in 2013 as a stand alone historical fantasy lived it. Still never got into the series. Just finished odyssey. And I’m in the process of purchasing and playing all the games in chronological order.
I’m not sure how odyssey made me a series fan but it did.
Oh and I’m 29, cause you know that’s a relevant information on this topic lol
ac odyssey was my first game in the series. I’ve since played ac 3, origin, Valhalla and unity. Odyssey is still my favorite game. While I understand that it doesn’t represent the series the best, it’s still the most fun for me in terms of story, gameplay and characters. However, I am heavily biased cause I’m Greek so every time I saw a place or a reference that I knew it made me more immersed.
The modern games are better than the older games, and although the new formula is getting old, that doesn't change the fact that the old formula also is old. I am honestly excited about Shadows, i think things like separating the combat character from the assassin character is a really cool idea that could help revitalize the series.
TBH I get the modern day hate as a fan of the modern day plot and the texture it adds to the historical stories. It reminds me of how people get detached to sprawling cinematic universes (i.e. Marvel or Star Wars) because they weren't there from the beginning. The first AC game I played was Brotherhood in 2010 because I loved the idea of an open world game set in renaissance Rome, and even back then when the franchise was still new all the modern stuff felt like weird white noise to me because I skipped AC1 and 2. I didn't truly appreciate the worldbuilding established or the mysteries solved by that game until I went back during the 2020s to play the earlier AC games I missed.
As aimless as the modern day plots could get in the games released after AC3, I get why a AAA company would try to dial the connective tissue back to try to focus more on selling "standalone" games set in separate historical settings. I don't think the games were better for it, but as purely a cynical marketing decision I get it.
odyssey is underrated

I''m gladto have found your channel. You do dispute the topics I'm concerned about and so far I haven't been able to disagree with one of them
I love Odyssey tbh. It was the first ac game I played and I just love being an overpowered demigod. The enhanced abilities you get from the fate of Atlantis dlc are fire (still think that dlc is better than the other one, I mean meeting Hades is so much cooler than getting married and having a kid lmao). I do understand the criticisms of how repetitive things are, they really just copy pasted military camps and whatnot and the story is just Witcher 3 to me (looking for someone and having to do ridiculous things to get the tiniest bit of info) and something about the actual dialogue is really off. It feels very forced at times but I don’t think Odyssey deserves the amount of slander it’s gotten either. Maybe I’m more defensive due to my own bias, but I have a lot of fun playing it, and I think it’s still an important story in relation to Assassin’s Creed as a whole. When you have your child, Elpidios, you send him off with Darius who goes to Egypt and somewhere down the line Aya is born, who marries Bayek. When I found that out my mind was blown ngl lol
I’m currently playing Origins and I was actually a bit disappointed that it doesn’t have dialogue options like Odyssey and Valhalla. But the thing I hate about Valhalla is that you can upgrade any weapon to legendary status and I think that’s stupid. I may not love every legendary in Odyssey and I probably won’t like every legendary in Origins, but they’re special, that’s what I’m aiming to collect. Valhalla completely takes that away, and maybe that’s just a me thing which is fine. I also hate how you have to pay to change the look of your armor in Valhalla instead of just being able to do that in your inventory and you can’t even see what it looks like until you’ve paid which is so dumb.
Idk if I’m just weak willed or what but every take you’ve had this video I’ve agreed with 😂

Dude been here since 1k you’ve gained so much so quick love ur content so nice to see a creator grow like this
that means the world thank you so much man
@@TheSpaniardAssassin np man can’t wait to see you grow more I really want you to collaborate with another creator called master assassin :)
Literally your 2,000 subscriber, you literally were at 1.99 and then it went to 2 when I subbed 😭🔥 Great vids on AC bro keep it up fr
duuude, thanks so much man!
This channel definitely has some wrong opinions about AC Odyssey. Still a fun video though
“Wrong opinions” is hilarious
But thank you! Glad you enjoyed :)
wrong? how and why in your opinion?
I’ve played them all. Ac brotherhood was one of my favs till ac origins. Origins is my favorite and frankly saved the franchise. Odyssey gave me the most hours spent in game purely for the story and high action combat. Valhalla is repetitive but still a good game. Unity is unplayable for me. Black flag was amazing but not a real assassin which seems to be a big thing for ac fans. But tends to be the favorite among simps that complain about the rpg games not being real assassins. Older games are hard to play these days for me. Syndicate sucks. Hard to play. And not the right feel for me. Roast me.
Origins is a gem
this is why i love smaller channels, its like having an acquaintance or friend talk passionately about a subject rather than trying to maintain a large audience or gain sponsors/make money
Gotta love the underdogs
Its my first time seeing your videos and i gotta say you have probably the most accurate takes and i like how you're backing them up with solid arguments unlike other creatord
thanks homie i appreciate that
AC1 has amazing world design but terrible mission design
been binging ur vids man love them hex could be so god damn cool and i hope they make it dark and gritty but also why u hate odyssey so much lmao i get it isnt an ac formula i thought it was fun tho
thank you dude and yeah im so excited for hexe
would be dope if you made a vid about each ac title alongside a list of mods you use to play them.
Thats a really good idea
I really like the Frye twins maybe it's their relationship as siblings but it really resonated with me
my unpopular opinion: rogue is better than black flag
Oooof
True
Agree.
Yeap i agree
in what aspect?
gameplay? yes, is basically BF if it got one more year in the oven.
Story? not even close, BF is the best story the franchise ever have.
Nah dawg 💀 you are a waffler everything you said here about origins applies to odyssey too you clearly have a agenda against odyssey and haven’t given it a fair chance 😂😭
Bro nooo
I just found this channel i am really happy to see you replying to each and everyone comment
Hope i can tell my opinion if this title gets parts 2
There will be a part 2 ;)
Just found this channel, but this video is great!!

You commented?!
I did but it was the only comment without a heart so I assume it got buried under "held under review" haha@@TheSpaniardAssassin
@TheHiddenOne690 damn i must have missed it then it didnt appear in my studio
:c great video regardless!@@TheSpaniardAssassin
The only "bad" AC game was odyssey because how it has the most minimal connection to assassin's creed. It's like making a grand turismo game but making it a 3rd person action shooter about the guy that gets you cars
😂😂
@@TheSpaniardAssassin Btw love your videos bro, imma subscribe.
Wow just found a great channel. You seem super down to earth and your opinions are almost the same as mine
Welcome aboard!
Ezio was the Villain of Revelations, got everyone in danger.
Odyssey is a great game that focuses on the isu story rather than the assassin’s themselves and it’s one of my favorite games
