Despite others’ opinions, I really enjoy AC Valhalla. It is a good game, just not a good AC game. What do you think?

As a matter of fact, Aiden Pearce eliminated Olivier Garneau, character from AC4. We can learn that in Watch Dogs 2. So... Watch Dogs already is kinda AC modern time spin-off.

if you want to get into AC you have to start with the first one. It's old and rough around the edges but short and does a great job establishing the world and core mechanics. If you liked it - move to AC2 - it's an improvement on the first one all around. Chances are you'll love Ezio so you'll want to know more of his story - there's Brotherhood and Revelations for it. By then you'll be invested in Desmond story so you finish it with AC3. Then the order doesn't really matter - just pick your favorite setting - Black Flag, Unity, Syndicate or Origins. It you didn't like AC1 at all - move straight to Origins - it's an action RPG with it's story and gameplay far from original game. If it didn't work for you either there's also Black Flag - you can't really go wrong with it. Pesonally, as someone who played all the games except Valhalla, I struggle getting into Unity and Origins but played through Syndicate and Odyssey - every game is different from one another, and some elements might click with you while other won't - but you'll never know unless you try it yourself.

I really enjoyed my time with Valhalla. Now, I don’t rate it as an AC game, and honestly I’ve not rated a single entry as a good AC game since origins and even then, I would argue the last truly great AC game was Revelations. Although I loved Black flag for a number of reasons. But you have to play Valhalla as a different style of game. Ignore the AC stuff (ignore any supposed RPG elements also), but just play it as an action adventure game. Embrace the rough and aggressive combat, the expansive and interesting world and the at times genuinely hilarious interactions you can have with NPC’s and you’ll have a much better time. I had over 200 hours before I gave up. I also didn’t even finish it (like 95% there ish) Because of the chaotic story etc. but I enjoyed the game. But I’m not really interested in AC anymore. Ubisoft has lost the plot.

AC Unity, I can say confidently, it is my favorite AC game because of how the mechanics work, the parkour.. you really feel like an asssassin. And after watching this video, maybe it's time I revisited it and try playing it without a HUD or at least remove most of it. Great video, thank you for sparking the flame of nostalgia with Unity for me.

Any reason why you left Odyssey off that list? I don't recall you naming it as one of the recommended No-HUD AC games.

I do this with dragonball,despite not being anywhere as realistic as AC but it still adds to the immersion More people should try this with multiple games that allow for the leeway of being able to read your environment without HUD

Maybe a modern day city like we know them today works for Assassins creed, but could be cool to have an Assassins creed game take place in a post-war city where you parkour through toppled skyscrapers to try and hold together what little light the world has left.

In the assassin creed world modern day guns wouldn't be a problem for the assassins because there's technology way a head from the race that came before, like how Edward in black flag could get that special armour, that technology is there and modern assassin could use that same thing but in a more modern assassin's outfit, has for the hidden blade that's always used for up close so it's not a weapon to go against bullets so the hidden blade will always be useful to an assassin

watchdogs legion is the modern assasins creed and it works. there are not only references but you can get a hidden blade and it has an assissins creed passage.

I actually liked Watch_Dogs , and if there's anything close to a modern day AC, it can be WD... Or something like Sleeping Dogs (not Ubisoft IP, I know, but just speaking from the POV of gameplay design)

I remember trying this before but since i was used to play with maxed out hud and the games give it all in default, i returned the settings 5 mins later. Now this video gave me a reason to go back and get lost in the history one more time.

Eagle vision is a canon ability. So I find it immersie because it somehow gives you the sense of being that assassin from the bloodline. In AC2 and Ezios trilogy we had visions which were in eagle vision so while I did hunt for feathers with no hud (worst mistake in my life) I still use eagle vision.

Origins and odyssey are my personal favourites, I even enjoyed Valhalla. 🤷‍♂️ I don’t get the hate these games get at all, I tried mirage and unity and didn’t like it nearly as much as odyssey.

Watchdogs as a franchise is pretty much modern day assassin's creed, and assassin's creed 3 had modern day sections with desmond, watchdogs 1,2 and the legion dlc provide the perfect template for a modern day assassin's creed game the gunplay of wd1, the parkour and stealth of wd2, and the hand to hand and some gunplay from wdlegion in one watchdogs game would be fantastic mix, add in the enhanced stealth options of assassin's creed and that's pretty much THE modern day assassin's creed game

I'm late, but my unpopular opinion is male Eivor is the best AC character and he isn't even the canon choice. Up until then it was Kassandra. 😂 You need to do an update vid and roast me for that!

a very valid place for the hidden dagger in the modern day is from the abundance of metal detectors. it would honestly be trivial to design a hidden blade that uses a ceramic blade, elastics, and a 3d printed plastic mechanism. pearl clutchers thought plastic guns like the glock could bypass metal detectors but its just not feasable to design an entirely plastic gun that can shoot more than once.

Unity is the last AC game I played and I wouldn't recommend it regarding anything. Other than graphics, I couldn't find anything good about it.

I probably will one day when I'm confident I can beat the games without worrying about my health.

I think the biggest reason for not doing that is the art direction, they want to make impressive recreations of historical places and periods for players to see. But yeah, it could be done in modern day for sure.
